OP asked how to reduce cravings and you said to keep your hand out of the cookie jar. I'm thrilled to find out that placing my hand in some specific configuration will reduce or remove cravings. Link to any studies, also, since this is a fascinating finding and I'd love to learn more about it.

How exactly does eating a whole chocolate peanut butter bar that fits into your day cut down on cravings?

Here's a food plan that I follow: Breakfast: 1 cup grain 1 cup dairy 1 serving fruit Lunch 4 oz protein 1/2 cup grain 1 cup salad 1 cup vegetables Dinner 4 oz protein 1/2 cup grain 1 cup salad 1 cup vegetables Snack 1 cup grain 1 cup dairy 1 serving fruit Once I fill in those blanks, I use the rest of my calories for…

I skipped pages 55 through 104.

I buy my meats in large quantities (10 lbs of chicken, beef and pork) then put them in serving size Food Saver bags and freeze them. Sometimes I toss in a marinade to when it thaws, the meat gets marinaded. Check Good Will for a Food Saver -- the last time I was there, they had about six of them.

Awesome thread!

Hee hee -- I'm doing it TODAY! See you all from the podium, suckers!

A very good book about bananas. I used to eat bananas every morning for breakfast. They are a great source of energy and potassium. Now, I really only eat them in a smoothie with chocolate and peanut butter. ZOMG. Why did bananas get a bad rap, anyway? Did Dr. Phil do it? Dr. Oz? OP, if you like bananas, fit them into your…

^^^ Hee hee donut. Good post, Virg. I eat whatever I want, within my calorie goals. Because I like a variety of foods, I am usually also on point with my macros, but not all the time. I don't sweat it. Yesterday I had pizza, apple stromboli, chicken pot pie, and blueberry pie, in addition to a bunch of other food, and I…

Not arguing -- just pointing out the sadness that passes as a cogent position about weight loss and health. CICO -- eat at a deficit and you will lose weight -- is a theory, not a metric.
-
LOL -- If you care about health.
-
Please clarify for me, ndj -- which of these do you mean? 1. A calorie deficit is all you need to lose weight. It doesn't matter where those calories come from. 2. Your sugar calories should fit within your allotted carbs, and the rest of your calories should be from protein and fat.
-
OP asks if sugar makes a difference. Several people responded no, it doesn't make a difference. Norm adds a touch of context about how blood sugar works. I'll ask again -- is Norm wrong?
-
I also agree.
-
Norm pointed out how a diet high in sugar can lead to insulin spikes that lead to hunger, thus defeating the ability to stay within CICO. Is that untrue? Is Norm wrong? No one -- except Ndj -- suggested that eating sugar = eating a diet 100% in sugar.
-
Just for the record, a strawman argument is an argument that you yourself make, just so you can prove it false, thus making yourself look like a winner. It's not an argument that someone else makes that you disagree with.
-
You did. You said "calorie deficit is all you need." All : means "everything," "100%," "nothing else" Need: means "necessary," "obligation," "essential" So if a calorie deficit is all you need, and the amount of sugar you eat plays no part in it, then a diet of 100% sugar is just fine -- is exactly what you are saying. If…

I've heard it both ways.

Weigh and measure all your food, have a food plan for every day, and when you over eat, just log it and move on. As long as your total calories over time are in a deficit, you will lose weight.

Do you think it's the chocolate that makes them truly amazing, or the human flesh?
-
This is a really good analogy.

That sounds like a total nightmare! There's a grocery store near my house and a grocery store near my work -- same company -- and they are organized totally differently, so I have the WORST time finding things. I hate both of those stores. The Wegman's I used to go to had a couple of computers on either side of the store…

I love Delilah -- the caller is all "my boyfriend lives with me when he's not with his wife, and we have two kids together but because he doesn't have a job I help him with coke money, and I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!" and Delilah's all "You are a *kitten*." We need a Delilah app on MFP. *** OP, thank you for posting this thread.…

This week's high weight was last week's low weight.

I've always wanted to start a grocery store that was organized by recipe. All the ingredients for the meal would be sitting together, along with the recipe.

Do you mean like rosecea? My skin gets really red and hot after I eat certain foods.
