chocolate of any kind except Hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder, Jelly Belly's are a problem, caramel or cookie dough ice cream, Yeah...I'm a carb junkie but I just don't have that stuff in my house. I also don't want to load up my body with artificial sweeteners, so I whip out my Magic Bullit and puree up a bunch of…

The burn is from your stores. You just detract the calorie burn from your daily requirement and that is net calories. If you want your metabolism to stay active, you might want to eat back 1/2 of those calories so your body gets the nourishment it needs.

I am now enjoying a shrimp salad, consisting of 2 cups torn baby lettuces, 6 ounces of chopped jumbo shrimp, and 3 T reduced fat asian toasted sesame dressing, accompanied with a 12 oz glass of 1% milk. The shrimp is high in sodium but a great protein source. I always soak and rinse my shrimp after peeling and de-vaining,…

Walk at least 15 to 20 minutes every day. a little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing. That's how I started. 6 flights of stairs??? Leave your gear in the house /apartment and just cruise the stairs. By the way, I am around the same weight.

There is a fitbit thread on MFP. You might try there.

OOOpsie! Forgot about the question. Have you ever been deep into a conversation and suddenly forgot what you were talking about?

A loooooong time ago. I even flashed the train conductor as he was driving the freighter past the beach!

I sometimes wear my favorite pajama shirt when I have been lazy about washing clothes....No one is the wiser, but it is getting kinda threadbare and I should only wear it at home. No anatomy lessons, just very thin.

my trainer tells me to just workout every day, eat back about half of my burn, and I will lose 1 to 2 lbs a week. The muscle "stuff" will happen as long as I keep up the exercise. My firts focus is to get some weight off of my knees.
-
I had the same experience earlier this week. I saw a nutritionist and she just told me the same thing my trainer did. Ex: If a person works out and burns 1000 calories or more, MFP says you have "earned" more calories to eat that day. I used to ignore this advice and keep under my caloric goal. I wasn't losing weight. I…

I have a Taylor digital scale I bought at Target, and it is soooo easy to use. I love it!

Just use your lazer vision and burn your way out...

The only thing I weigh consistently is my food. I only weigh my body once a month.

I do my measuring after cooking unless it specifically says raw.

Hey! Ketchup guzzling contest in the next padded cell. Be there or be square.

When I was on Welfare years ago, I used to make macaroni and put tomato paste in it along with lotza garlic powder. Hey, it filled the belly. I thought about using ketchup at first, but didn't want all of that sugar...Beats going hungry...

If I am having a "doubtful" day, I just go to my friendly everyday MFP community. I will seek out the encouragement AND EMPOWERMENT I need and ignore the debates. It always works. In fact, after I am done playing in the community a while, I will be heading off to the gym for my cardio workout. It is too easy for me to just…

In culinary school, they taught us to always use a scale (baking) and most of the ingredients in recipes were listed in grams. The liquids were measured in ounces. I use my scale for ALL of my foods, as grams or ounces.

I only use 1 teaspoon of it on my egg sandwiches. Same with mayonnaise, or cream cheese spread.

Being attracted to whole, healthy foods is an acquired thing. Human nature wants to eat what it wants to derive pleasure from it. That's OK to a degree, but just read the labels and see all of the chemicals and crap that is filling up processed foods. The nitrates and nitrites are cancer fiends and are best left out of…

I believe one also has to take genetics into focus as well as what or what not to eat. Some people have the genes of a jackrabbit and can eat Yorkie bars and still stay thin. Others, like me, LOOK at a Yorkie and gain 3 lbs. My father was obese, his mother was obese, I blimped out first and over the years my sister and…

2 small squares of dark chocolate a day is said to be good for your heart, as long as it is at least 70% cacao.

I don't see a dietitian, I see a nutritionist and she hasn't told me anything my trainer hasn't. Should of saved the money on the office visit.

My sis went on that HGCG diet and ultimately lost her gall bladder.

What helps for me now, is Atkins snack bars. Particularly the chocolate coconut bar. It tastes like a Peter Paul Mounds bar, but has sugar alcohols instead of sugar. If you are watching carbs, it's great, but it has a lot of fat and 170 calories. Limit yourself, cause you will be running to the toilet a lot if you don't.

I can't have jelly bellies either...The whole jar would be gone in a flash.
