  • I totally agree with you however I don't do artificial sweeteners, no grains, no sugar. I eat a lot of fat (healthy fat) proteins, and as low of carbs as I can go.
  • Right now I am not talking about intermittent fasting. Basically, I am talking about what the KETO or Ketogenic diet or lifestyle is. https://blog.bulletproof.com/keto-intermittent-fasting-weight-loss-diet/
  • I respectfully disagree. Keto is 1. HIGH FAT 2. Moderate Protein 3. Low Carbs
  • I'm sorry but what you are all describing is not KETO. A keto or ketogenic diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet that can help you burn fat more effectively. By eating healthy fats such as olive oils, avocado oils, Ghee, bacon grease, butter, MTC oil, etc so that you become a fat burning machine. Fats are the number one…
  • You must eat fat to burn fat on Keto. https://healthyeater.com/flexible-dieting-calculator
  • I disagree. Strict KETO, there are limitations. Dirty or Lazy Keto is another thing. And while I don't have an issue with either, if one wants to do STRICT KETO, these foods above are off limits and will kick you out of ketosis. https://dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto
  • No no no. These are NOT KETO. You need to eliminate flour. PLEASE watch some youtube videos by Dr. Ken Berry or another favorite is the Diet Doctor on KETO. KETO is no flour no sugar not even artificial. 2 c. shredded mozzarella 4 oz. cream cheese 3 large eggs 3 c. almond flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. kosher salt 4…
  • Watch Dr. Ken Berry on youtube. He explains it all.
  • You are all just kids :) I'm 63 years old and I am back at it - Seems to be a never ending battle since 55+ I also had my gallbladder removed last August and I've gained 10 extra pounds since. I love retirement, but this weight has to go!
  • I was in ER Tuesday night with pain in my stomach and back - a few tests later (Ultra sound) they found out my gallbladder is full of stones. Now I am waiting for my doctor to refer me to a surgeon. I've lost 2 lbs since Tuesday. Food has become my enemy. When I eat, I get nausated. I'm following the BRAT diet for now, and…
  • I'm good with water but not so much in the winter. Once I master my "coke addiction" the next thing I will tackle is my addiction to microwave popcorn. I need to get a popcorn popper like I had years ago. I'm drinking unsweetened ice tea now. :)
  • I have cut myself down to 1 Shasta Cola (Coke is my favorite) a day. I am sure that is going to have to go soon. Never liked diet sodas. I remember Fresca and it was pretty good and anyone old enough to remember TAB??? It was made by CocaCola. Diet Coke replaced it.
  • Greeting to all you 50 + year olds. I am 62, this past March. My name is Debby and I am from Northern California. I was doing fine and then all of a sudden I got lazy and put on some weight. Last night I weighed myself at 177.8. So I'm back! I need to get a grip and sounds like you gals, do. Maybe joining in, will keep me…
  • Looks delish. I'd probably use beef broth instead. Not much difference in calories. It's too hot right now for soup but will have to keep it in mind for the Autumn. Thanks.
  • Back in the 70's, when I thought I was fat, but was actually skinny, I used to go on 500 calorie a day diets, during the week so I could eat a little more on the weekends. I was always so afraid of getting fat because I was a fat baby. Fortunately I never had to watch my weight till after menopause. Now, I just look at…
  • Add me. I need to lose 28 -30 lbs. I'm 62.
  • Good Morning. I just finished my first cup of coffee - wrote on MFP blog myfitnesspal.com/blog/snavemom/view/down-but-not-out-767969 and thought I would check in. I added my post, because I am down and did not want to have to go into details on this thread. You are not obligated to read that post but if you should, then…
  • Wow, good for you! :)
  • Hey Leslie - welcome. I joined last year and then went missing in action over the summer and now I am back. Hope you like it here. :)
  • Love the cabin. Do you have pictures of the inside????
  • Irish Terri, Ha we have a 34 foot motor-home, but our daughter is living in it, to the side of our house. She moved down here from WA and got a divorce from an abusive husband and she is starting over. So we get the van - Actually sleeping in the van, is a step up from what I had to do LAST summer! We all went tent camping…
  • Hi there, Becca from Oregon. I'm in Redding. I'm originally from San Francisco and San Mateo but we located up here to get away from the rat race. I love it here and I thought I never would because of the extreme summer heat. AC is a god-send. The river is fine, has plenty of water. It's the watersheds - Lake Oroville has…
  • Good morning and happy last day of September. Time sure flies, it doesn't seem possible that it should be Oct. I'm happy because it is cooling down. Where I live, our summer temperatures rarely go below 105. The hottest this summer was 117. Today will be 80 - I call that perfect and we even get some cool temps in the early…
  • What is your secret for keeping up on this list??? I want to thank all for your condolences on the recent loss of my sister. I lost my son, 13 years ago and that is when I found food to be a comfort to me. I've been up and down in those 13 years and find the older I get, the harder it is to lose. With this recent loss of…
  • Debby - I had to laugh about your description of yourself. We are very similar in many ways. I'm 60, 5' 4" tall, and weigh 170, but this is the smallest I have been in about 40 years, so I'm delighting in my tiny-ness every day. I feel better than I have in a very long time. I guess our perspectives are just very…
  • Janet, Wow, you are amazing. Good for you. My new role model.... :) Debby from Northern California
  • So we finally put a battery in our digital scale. Now I can see what damage I have done. I had a sneak peak at the doctors last Monday - 166. I am trying to keep busy and my mind occupied or else I sit and dwell on my sisters untimely death on the 8th. She is the first thing on my mind in the morning and before I go to…
  • Barbie, Thanks for your reply. 1 year old black lab named LayDee 1 year old Susie (in window) 15 year old Miss Buster I love watching the standard poodles run, at the dog park, so graceful. Our black lab just turned 1 and she's been a joy and a handful but that's what puppies do. She has terrorized our older cat, to where…
  • If you don't mind a 61 year old lady, then add me. :)
  • Thanks for the welcome. You all can call me Debby. My user name is my last name that I had when I had my 3 sons - spelled backwards. My son told me after the divorce, that I always would be a "snavemom." So I still have it, even though I am remarried now for 13 years. Currently I am a stay-at-home Mom to 1 dog and 2 cats.
