I'm starting this again. When I stuck to 16/8 previously eating from 7am to 2pm/3pm for about a year I saw lots of benefits. Specifically for me I noticed better sleep, better digestion, easier weight loss due to more manageable hunger levels and I saw my blood pressure drop to ideal levels. No guarantees it will work for…

That is frustrating. Everything I've seen about long covid, or just how hard the impact of the virus can be afterward, makes me appreciate how difficult and slow full recovery can be. I'm sure you will recover eventually.

Optimism isn't required when the balance of scientific evidence strongly suggests something is so. That paper you posted was from the American Society for Nutrition. Not a good source, given the companies that fund them and their track record of misleading information. Beware of science paid for by companies that produce…

Sounds like you've already made some significant steps towards improving your cholesterol. If you can stomach it, or just slowly tip the balance towards it, a plant-based diet is very good for cutting out cholesterol unless you put coconut oil in stuff. Avoid that and you should see improvements quite quickly. (Perhaps…

Thanks AnnPT77, I have just joined that group. That was an inspiring post. 5+ years maintaining is impressive. If I have to maintain indefinitely I will do what I can to accomplish that, because I know from the last 10 years that being close to my ideal weight makes pretty much everything better in my life, including my…

Good luck on your journey. I have 30lbs of pandemic weight to lose, too! I've used MFP before and it worked. The trouble is I never expected the hardest part to be maintenance, which is where I fell down. This time I'm prepared for the long haul!

Great posts here. Insightful and helpful. They may do. However, even keeping a stationary bike at home is very cramped for the time being. Nine months from now I will have a house with enough space for a dedicated home gym and a dedicated yoga room, too. I think, for now, I should get myself going to the gym for strength…

That home gym looks amazing! At least its getting used ;)

So, if weight loss from exercise starts to diminish after 40, what about simple calorie budgeting? Does the baseline calorie burning the body does slow down that much?

I'm not returning but getting back to it after a bad blip due to injury and stress. I'll help. Losing and then especially maintaining is tough.

Four years ago I bounced from a real low weight back up to overweight due to incredibly strong food cravings. I, too, attributed this to having reached an unhealthy weight for my height and build. It just seemed like that had to be the reason. I craved food all the time, like my stomach was growling and clawing at me…

Add me! Guy from Vancouver, Canada. Was doing really well on MFP last year but in the last few months I managed to put on 10lbs! My marriage breaking up, a change of career, new living arrangements and money worries got the better of me. Now back on my feet and looking to lose that 10lbs as well as another 10lbs.

Great girl. You should all befriend her. :D

Hi! I lost 20lbs, felt great about that and my improved fitness and health. A few big life changes hitting me at once (separation from wife, career shift, moving to a new place) made me put things on pause. Want to finish what I started by losing another 20 to get to my ideal weight. Add me for mutual support. :)

This is awesome! Not far to go now. Have you thought about what you're going to do when you go into the maintenance phase?
-
Oh I didn't know that. Thanks for posting :)

You can definitely be thin, just not small. If you have a mental image of a slim ectomorph or mesomorph as your goal then try to forget that as soon as possible and look up endomorphs that are in shape. They look incredible.

Yes, its very normal. Weight fluctuates from day to day. Its the overall trend that counts. If you weigh yourself less often you'll probably see a steady drop in your weight more often.

All that was only 611 calories? You must be eating smaller portions than me! I think your hunger will return the next day, or the day after that, then you might feel hungry for a couple of days even you hit your set limit. Other than that, maybe your metabolism is a bit slow right now. If it carries on for a few days and…

I really try to. If I take a bite or two out of something I might not log it but I approximate how many calories and do a little more exercise to cover it.

No, but sometimes I think *this* might be the afterlife. If so, I must have screwed up something huge to be sent to this rock! When was the last time you laughed so much you had to struggle to breathe?
