My two cents on this: get a different endo to get rechecked, there may be something else going on that's compounding the problem (and remember just because the numbers are normal, doesn't mean that they are normal FOR YOU) and a registered dietitian that specializes in patients with your issues. Here's my story: I did all…

Well, my bootcamp class got cancelled for the summer :( but I picked up burlesque and really like it and signed up for a choreography class (they're extra, but it's sword.... and I really need to work on my sword!)

I second Dragonwolf's motion! I spent YEARS with a gyn that every time I brought up PCOS said I didn't have it (never did any tests, would just say "No, you don't have it"), even after I started seeing an endo that said I have all the signs and symptoms on the endo side of it. Went to a new gyn, she said that she didn't…

I've gotten it a couple times too (I actually have to shut off my computer to make it go away). I've checked my virus protection after I get it and it's never come up that there was anything infecting my system. Hopefully MFP can do something about it to stop it

I have to second this, I'm in the medical field and I do have PCOS. Another suggestion that I was given with the metformin for the side effects was to wait for about 10-15 minutes after I ate to take it, also if you're on regular metformin and have quite a bit of trouble, you can talk to your doc about the extended release…

Another trick to try is to wait about 15-20 minutes after you eat to take the met, the nurse suggested this when I first started and was having trouble and it helped

I have the same thing plus am getting more and more arthritis in both knees, so I understand. You can work on strengthening the muscles around the knee, that was the first thing I was told (other than all of the things I "can't" do). My PT gave me a bunch of exercises and told me to look online as well so I wouldn't get…

What if it doesn't work you ask, well, you have to rethink it... then, don't sweat it now. I know it's tough a lot of people here do too. I was thin up until I got out of college, then I started gaining, then the yo yo dieting. Then after the last yo yo round I realized the diets were getting harder to sustain, I was…

You may have to do some trial and error with foods with the met. I'm on a specific food plan from a dietician, so I won't bore you with the details or get everyone up in arms because it doesn't meet their definition of the correct foods/eating plans for PCOS (remember different things works for different people). I found I…

That depends on what you define as the southern west side. I'm in Pinellas county

There are two types of met, the regular and the extended release, you may need to try both, my doc started me on the ER because it had fewer side effects..... Not for me, it was actually worse for me, I'm on regular met now, and I have fewer side effects taking it than I did with the ER (don't get me wrong, I still have…

I need a challenge and I'm an HP fan, so I submitted my application, now to wait to see if I get picked!!!

I was reading Kathy Reichs before the tv show came out, so I'm partial to the books. If you like mystery/adventure type series (I'm also a fan of archeological/mythological mysteries) check out Charles Brokaw, Paul Christopher, David Gibbins, David Golemon, David Leadbeater, Gregg Loomis, Tom Knox, Andy McDermott,…

Patricia Cornwell and Kathy Reichs both are excellent writers and have top notch series. Patricia Cornwell's main character is a pathologist and Kathy Reichs' main character is an anthropologist (the tv series Bones is based on Kathy Reichs' character Temperance Brennan, but it has no other connection to the series itself.)

I also agree, find a new doctor! I was put on metformin for the insulin resistance, I still have a high number for my insulin results, I'm on the highest dose of metformin and my endo did forewarn me that the metformin may or may not help with weight loss, so just be cautious and be aware that it may control your insulin…

Did the yo-yo dieting, spent a lot of money, the last one was the HCG, lost 30 lbs on that one, when they upped me from 500 cals to 800 cals my weight loss stalled out, when they bumped me up to 1000 cals, I started gaining, they knocked me down to 800 and put me on appetite suppressants and I stalled out again, they…

I don't think mine are separate items but add ons to what others have said: Weight loss doesn't work the same for everybody, even within women with PCOS, some have CICO work, some can do LCHF and have it work, some of us have to struggle and fight for every ounce, I've tried everything, unless I do a very low calorie (ie…

I'm 42 and never been in a relationship, you have time, don't worry, just keep looking

Apparently I am "too"... as in: I am too nice, too mean, too tall, too ugly, too fat, too southern (yeah, I really got that one), too loud, too quiet, too serious, too silly, too strong, too weak, too dark, too light, too uptight, too relaxed, too neat, too messy, too organized, too disorganized... shall I go on? So being…

There are other factors involved, but we do have a better chance. I would suggest discussing with your primary care physician about seeing an endocrinologist, just to get everything checked (remember, primary docs have a little knowledge about a lot of things whereas a specialist has a lot of knowledge about a specific…

I was on metformin extended release for a while (until I started passing it whole within an hour after I took it) and my doc switched me to regular metformin, I was still having tummy issues from taking it, then one day I accidentally/on purpose didn't take it when I ate out (I take it at breakfast and supper and didn't…

It's good to update posts like this sometimes! :) Well, have been taking bellydance bootcamp and bellydance groove at my new home and loving it! I joined Shimmy Mob 2015 to get to know some of my fellow dancers at the studio and we're having a blast learning the choreography. I'm learning so many new things and new…

I'm like Jackie: Central Gulf Coast! (Tampa Bay area) I'm a native too. Plenty of kayaking, SUP, and places to explore, but right now, it's too cold, time to hide under the covers and turn the heat in the house on!

I work 7-4, at the gym or the dance studio pretty much every night and don't get home until 7, 8, or even 9 at night and have a part time job. I'm hypothyroid as well (also insulin resistant and PCOS) and pretty picky (actually, as much as I love to cook, I hate cooking for myself). For breakfast I usually will either have…

I struggle because I see others succeeding where I'm failing and I know I'm doing the best I can. I have PCOS, hypothyroidism, and insulin resistance so weight loss is a battle. I am using none of these as an excuse, I take medication for what I can, I get regular bloodwork done, I see my endocrinologist regularly, I eat…

Yes there are, if you browse groups you should be able to find them in there (hint for looking the groups up, put it in as bellydance or bellydancer)

Wish I could offer hope, but I'm running out. I'm 42, never married, no kids (have wanted both my entire life) and have been relegated to second class citizen by most of my family and friends. I've made every effort to try to meet men (blind dates, online dating- both paid and free types, I even went through a matchmaking…
