  • great job :) that's a great measure of your success..and easily trackable too..great idea :) NSV = Non-Scale-Victory :)
  • I'm having a particularly difficult PMS time this month for some reason, and I'm so frustrated. I reached my lowest LOWEST weight - ever - this week, and now I'm up 4lbs from that..in 3 days?! So upsetting! tonight I ate oatmeal with fruit for supper(good) then... a hamburger bun with nutella 2 pieces of toast with butter…
  • I love this so much! I started a C25K program in August of 2010, lost another 30lbs from that point on...have maintained, and ran 4x5Ks, 1x10K(last weekend!), 1x11K race and a half marathon since! :) I love running now :)
  • I'm an inch taller than you, currently weigh 165.5lbs, and according to the "charts" I'm overweight. I've lost 70lbs to this point, and my husband is literally begging me to stop losing. (as are my parents and friends), as the concern is that I'll look "unhealthy" at a lower weight. It's a tough call, and only one that you…
  • good job!! :)
  • congratulations!! :) running is terribly addictive--and a great calorie burner too ;) "What does it mean to be a runner? Simply that you run. 'To move legs quickly,' says the Oxford English Dictionary. '(the one foot being lifted before the other is set down) so as to go at a faster pace than walking; to cover ground, make…
  • you're absolutely right...it's quite simple, and laid out--if we don't overthink it!
  • awesome post and very encouraging! :) i'm training for a 10k without walk breaks right now(for myself..I want to prove to ME that I can do it!) :) My best 5K time is 32:59 (hehe...not 33!) :) I ran a half-marathon in October with 2 broken toes(ugh..don't ask!) in 2:34...not too shabby! :) I've only been running for…
  • I usually just count all of my cardio as 10cals/minute :) it works for me :)
  • that is insane results for only 20days! good work :) (I read that HIIT should only be max 3 days a week...?)
  • If you have runkeeper, you can program in your own intervals, and it uses your iPod music to listen to...that's what I do :)
  • I always feel like the odd one out on posts like this...my goal is 160(or in the 160s..) I'm currently at 169(down from 235!) :) I have a larger frame, and I just don't see the need for myself to reach anything lower...I want to live, and enjoy eating still! :)
  • if you have a HRM, I'd be interested to know how many calories you burn. I did pilates a few years ago, lost some weight with it, but built up a good core and foundation for other things, flexibility too...I loved it. I would venture to say that you can burn quite a few calories, depending on how uh...HARD you work at it.…
  • The thing that I've been seeing most of is that the abdominal area is usually where we store carbs/starches, so first thing..cut back on those if you can.. crunches and planks(all sorts of them on youtube!) would help strengthen your core! :)
  • done...threw in 2 planks and held a squat at the end of the squats for 45seconds...tough!
  • I actually thought it was fairly done, though one-sided at times, and learning more about carbs/starches and how they truly affect blood sugar, insulin, etc was very helpful. :) For myself, if I steer away from breads/pastas, I can actually SEE a dramatic difference in my body in a few short days...*shrug* I liked it :)
  • the Biggest Loser Workout Volume 1 and 2 I love it...these guys are sweating and grunting and groaning...much less "refined" than my most recent Calorie Knockout video...I love them! http://www.amazon.ca/Biggest-Loser-Workout-1/dp/B000BOFZJ6 and http://www.amazon.com/Biggest-Loser-Workout-Vol/dp/B000IHY9TI good luck! :)
  • I'm nervous to post this...I know it's ridiculous. The left picture is my start to my journey, at 235lbs The right picture is just over a year later, at 165lbs(I'm 3lbs heavier at this point today..)
  • I'm curious if any of you(or any of you lurkers) out there, see these pictures, read the bios, and success stories, and think...I'll never get there, never be that, never accomplish that much.. I'm feeling emotional and weepy today, and looking for encouragement. I'm a stay at home mom to 3 littles, and in the 2years have…
  • going to get this done today, but curious, what exactly is a leg lift? anyone care to share a video link on youtube as to what I should be doing? just curious...
  • I finished these, but boy oh boy...I'm not good at them at all! :)
  • The thing that I'm focusing on, is better food choices, overall. Pretty sure I didn't get to be my heaviest weight by eating an extra ounce or two..or even three, of fruit...it was the Doritos, chips, nachos, pizza, chinese food..etc etc etc that were the culprits. Relax a little with how accurate you're being with your…
  • you'll do great...have fun with it! :)
  • pretty sure, if you can tolerate your local weather, you should just get outside as often as you can, rather than train on a treadmill :) running outside is completely different...my personal opinion(for MY body) is that the treadmill nearly kills me at 5k..but I ran a 1/2marathon(outside obviously..hehe) and survived ;)
  • I have a friend who is a personal trainer at the Y, and she has been helping me for about 2 months with various workouts. We do tricep dips on a step I have here..but when I looked at the video you posted, I thought..wow, that bench is WAY higher..meaning a deeper dip...I'll give it a shot. Holy macaroni. It took me 3…
  • finished..in 2 sets of 40 on each side. my glutes got a great workout--hopefully that was the way it was supposed to feel! :)
  • I'd have to say chips/doritos/nachos...oh nachos. they are all my worst enemies, and my favourite foods. :( there is no moderation with me when it comes to those choices..it's all or nothing, and for now...I'm choosing nothing ;)
  • are you holding onto the treadmill when you are running? if not..check your posture, it sounds like you're somehow straining your upper back/shoulders..which could mean "hunching over" while you're running? maybe? edited: just to be clear, you should NOT be holding onto the treadmill while you are running... :)
  • the thing is with weightloss, you CAN do whatever works for you taking a rest day is necessary, it gives your muscles time to rest, and rebuild, it's often something that people overlook. taking a stroll..a long one even, would be fine..and the yoga might actually be a good idea. the more 'stretching' you do, to lengthen…
