Thanks, Sizco. There are just so many negative comments and this will be a big $ purchase for me. I’m glad to hear a positive comment!!

Thanks all for your replies. What I hear from your replies is what I consider "cheating" or"failing" in my unhealthy all or nothing thinking, others think of as moderation, occasionally indulging, being realistic - much more positive ways of thinking. I'm less than 10 lbs away from my goal but I've been reliving this same…

Can I use the training manual at home with free weights or do I need to be in a gym? Thanks!!

Thanks for the replies!! Really appreciate the insight. Tsta, I have discovered the EM2WL group. This is an area I have really struggled with. I found that eating at the level recommended was essentially maintenance for me. I started to slowly reduce my intake to find where I could see some weight loss and here I am again…

Ascolti do you mean your ipad is 4 years old or iPod touch? I have an ipad 2 and if the One can sync to this that would def work for me - better than my desk top.

Hi again tsta, can you tell me more about how you are using Fitbit/MFP for weight loss/maintenance? Right now I log intake via MFP. I enter exercise here - using either the MFP database, the calories predicted by map my run or shown on my treadmill. I just recently got an inexpensive hrm which stopped working half way…

Hmmmm. Just realized my iPhone, iPod touch AND ipad are not the required models that can sync with Fitbit. I can sync to my PC. I think. Still worth doing? For sure would go with the One not the Flex then.

The colors are pretty! I was just reading another thread that is making me rethink this tho - the bracelet has to sync to your phone or computer to see the data whereas the Fitbit One has a display = instant gratification. Hmmmmmm.

First of all, thank you for a MUCH needed chuckle/smile. My thought was it would help keep me motivated OVER the weekend when diet can be much different. But, I see where you are coming from and I am going to switch days!! I haven't done measurements. I have some clothes that I use as my goal clothes if you KWIM and these…

I agree with you all! I know I am 'preaching ot the choir' but I just was so urked. This, of course, was one example of many. Many people I know of go on these radical approaches. For a variety of reasons, I would never go on such a program (but I have done the whole 1200 calorie thing, low carb/low calorie diet thing). I…

Lorinalynn, can you give me some more info about activity levels? I am that person who "does cooking, cleaning, shopping, yard work, taking care of pets or kids, AND exercises is not sedentary". Right now I do have sedentary as my activity level on my profile.

Moylie, just re-read your post and I think I know the answer to my second question: I would eat 15 to 20% below my TDEE. On the days I exercise, I would log those calories burned. I would eat the amount to ensure my net calories still equals my 15 to 20% below my TDEE. Right?!?! If so I may have had an ah ha moment! :)…

Moylie, can you clarify: you said "Try taking a 15-20% deduction from the TDEE that you want to use. Then, on exercise days, just eat back calories so that your NET is no lower than your BMR of 1455." Using the TDEE of 3 to 5 times a week exercising, 20% less than that is 1804. Questions: 1) when they say 'exercising' 3 to…

I am so glad I posted - thank you all for your thoughts and advice. I will go calculate my % body fat but I did quickly go recalculate my TDEE and BMR. OK: TDEE using desk job 1745 kcal using exercise 1 to 3 x a week 2000 using 3 to 5 x a week exercise (which is what I'm doing) 2254 BMR 1455 My understanding is for weight…

Sorry - someone asked me how long I've been eating back my exercise calories and it has been 2 weeks. But since I've seen a slight gain I am admittedly panicking. In terms of exercise, I am going to run a 5 k in June so I am on a running program 3 days a week. Other days I do 30 - 45 min walking/stairs intervals or 60 min…

Moylie, I did use that website to calculate TDEE but I will redo it as you suggested. I will also check out that group. Thank you.

Jen, I do not have a HRM do I use the MFP database or if on the treadmill or elliptical I use the number on the machine. Thoughts? Hezzie, I am eating 1200 plus exercise calories back and this has put me at around 1600. Ninyaw, great words of encouragement. Thanks!! Mercenary, do I just manually change my calorie level in…
-
Lorinalynn, that would put me at 1500 plus exercise calories which have been averaging an additional 250 to 350 calories which I calculate from MFP database or the number of calories shown on the equipment I'm using. I have to admit eating even more really freaks me out in the sence that I couldn't stand my pants getting…

Thanks for the reply Yarwell. I was losing at 1200 which was the setting for I think 1 1/2 lb/week loss. I was not consistently exercising and am exercising more and consistently now. 1200 is hard to maintain and I do feel less restricted on 1600. But, I do want to see some change in the scale. Although it shouldn't be the…

I am also struggling with calorie goal. MFP goal 1260. . TDEE 1744. BMR 1450. I had been eating only the 1260 but now I've been eating MFP plus exercise calories putting me at around 1600 and not losing. I am 10 lbs away from goal but I am always 10 lbs away! Urgh. Appreciate any advice. Thanks!
