I'm currently at 218 days, but been on here for about five years or so. The last year or so I lost interest, lost friends, gained a few pounds. I'm back at it because bottom line, this place works! BUT...it helps to have motivation and friendship on here. I've added some new friends in the past week, and am reminded how…

I'm looking for running friends myself! Like minds help motivate and I am always learning from others on this sight. Consider yourself friended!

I've been on here for a few years, and seen most of my initial friends drift off and become inactive. I love to run, and try to always log on and offer support. Would love some active friends to make the day brighter and help motivate each other!

Interesting but unanticipated conundrum presented by the new larger phone sizes. That Amazon case *could* work, but today, I was caught in a bit of a sudden downpour, and was glad my phone was in a plastic enclosed sleeve. Moisture and iPhones don't mix!

Add another to the overnight/refrigerator oatmeal squad! Only I use almond milk instead of regular milk. Yesterdays breakfast came in at 265 calories, and kept me filled most of the morning! Easy to make, and especially great to eat in the heat of the summer. I usually throw in a 1/4 - 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries and a…

I second the overnight/refrigerator oatmeal! Especially in the warmer summer months (although I eat it year round!). Here is a link to some good recipes. It may look complicated, but it could hardly be easier. And I just use either a Tupperware container or an old Talenti gelato tub!…

Runner's World actually has a good article on this: http://www.runnersworld.com/running-tips/tips-for-running-in-humidity Lots of info in there. And I just saw another quote that confirmed the "run by feel instead of pace" mantra. Your body is working harder so your pace will suffer. If it doesn't, YOU will suffer. :) Once…

OK, I sent a bunch of Nike+ requests to folks on the past two pages...they seemed more recent...if I could figure out your Nike ID correctly! Any runners feel free to add me here or there - grendel322!

I'm looking to build my running friends back up. I had a bunch at one point and they all dropped off one by one. I lost interest in logging but kept running! Now I'd like to get back into controlling the food part again, so would love to have more friends to talk running with and cheer on. Feel free to add me anyone!

Personally, when I go out, my strategy is to run against traffic, and then I pick grass, then asphalt and then concrete as my running terrain, switching off and on between the three as they are available (and clean and runnable!). I like the slight variation of surface on a well maintained grass stretch, and then agree…

I use the Nike GPS Sportwatch in conjunction with the Nike Shoe Sensor (the watch comes with one), and between the two of them, I am EXTREMELY pleased with tracking and accuracy. It's accurate down to which side of the street I run on, and even shows if I veer off into the grass. The GPS synchronizes with the Shoe Sensor,…

I usually get the Bruschetta Chicken Sandwich with a side of steamed broccoli. Skip the fries! That's under 700 calories, which isn't bad!

I worked with a guy a many years back who used to order his coffee no cream, four sugars. I asked him why and he said "I like my coffee like I like my women...black and sweet!" :) That's stayed with me a lot of years! I like mine bold but appreciate variety and surprises (it's not uncommon for me to have a different blend…

I have used and like Runtastic, Endomondo, but I think the lolo one will help more with the stated goals of building speed and endurance, as it gives you pre-programmed workouts, one tempo, one speed, one distance (endurance) each week. So it helps with pacing, speed and endurance. Just my two cents...eight more and you…

I use and like the Jeff Galloway lolo app. It will give you an option to ease into a 5k with walk/run breaks or improve your existing time. It will also let you use your own library as music, but it can alter the beat without altering the pitch to guide you with correct running pace. There are different workouts to focus…

Grendel322 I'm going to add a bunch from here - love using my Nike GPS watch and the Nike+ site! It will be cool to have both for points of reference and inspiration! Anyone feel free to add me as well I've been nursing an injury the past couple of weeks but hope to start up again soon - my history is up there!

People are taking this WAAAAYYY out of context. It isn't Nirvana - it couldn't be without Kurt - and it isn't supposed to be, it's not being billed that way. . According to the news article: Surviving members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic haven’t played together in 20 years—save a few one-offs and Novoselic’s appearance…

Personally, I'd be thrilled! He's deployed, so if FaceTime or Skype is an option, the bigger screen means bigger YOU which would have to make the calls that much better. I've got an iPhone and an iPad, and I have moved most of my print subscriptions and books to the iPad. The iPhone is way too small to read on, but the…

Great post! Keep at it, you've crossed a great threshold! That is a great distance and a great pace!! You SHOULD be proud! And with that pride will come confidence and more ambition. Stay where you are comfortable running, but if you want to increase, don't go crazy, try to maybe go 2-3 minutes longer each week. I hurt my…

Well, I don't know about quantity you'd have to ingest to make up for a capsule! I bought mine at Trader Joe's, I think they were near the oatmeal section? I usually add 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons when I'm making something. A protein shake with Chia seeds is something I've done at least a couple of times! :) They have some other…

I've been mixing chia seeds into my shakes/oatmeals, etc. Here's what I read on them - maybe this will help with your Omega 3 conundrum??: CHIA seeds. I followed Pepper Lynn's lead and included chia seeds in my refrigerator oats recipes. I've been hearing a lot of buzz about the nutritional powerhouse in these teensie…

I'm surprised no one has said you need to loose some weight.

I use it all the time in my refrigerator oatmeal. Mix it with bananas, or some unsweetened cocoa... Here's one of the recipes... http://www.theyummylife.com/recipes/223/Banana+Peanut+Butter+Refrigerator+Oatmeal

That is awesome! Very similar to my story. Never ran, never a runner, tried a couple of times but never caught "the bug". I started walking with a co-worker, then gradually did my own C25k (without even knowing such a thing existed!) and was given a personal goal by the fitness coordinator at work to register for a 5k in…

That is 5 hours and 17 minutes faster than my best marathon time! Great job! You SHOULD be proud!!!

Congratulations! That is a great time, and there's nothing quite like doing and feeling really great to make you want to do it again, right??! :)

FYI, this was the recipe i used: Pumpkin Pie Refrigerator Oatmeal - 244 calories of Fall Goodness. Pumpkin Pie without the crust - or guilt! http://www.theyummylife.com/recipes/261/Pumpkin+Pie+Refrigerator+Oatmeal Ingredients •1/4 cup uncooked old fashioned rolled oats •1/3 cup skim milk •1/4 cup low-fat Greek yogurt…

Did you use Greek yogurt? I have found this makes a difference. Also, Chiobani thickens up, Trader Joes does NOT. Apparently the quality of the Greek Yogurt matters also. I have made this pumpkin one three times now, and ran out of Chobani and so have a Trader Joes version that has been "cooking" for the past two nights.…

I just bought a Road ID bracelet (http://www.roadid.com) because if something DID happen while I was out running, at least helping hands will know who I am and who to contact (and that I have no known allergies!). :) I like that it is also reflective. One more piece of brightness on the road will never hurt.

Had a Southern Tier Pumking tonight...hard to beat that for this time of year. Pumpkin Pie in a glass! Then the beer manager at the bar said he just got in TWO BARRELS of Founders Breakfast Stout. I think I may need to put a tent in their parking lot.
