It totally depends. You should use a heart rate monitor for an accurate number for your workouts. I know that I burn 500-600 calories an hour (I'm 250 lbs, 5'9").
-
Get a heart rate monitor to see what your heart rate is during workouts and that'll give you a better idea of how hard you're working

1. You weigh less so you will burn less calories during your workouts because your muscles and respiratory system have adapted to the stress. 2. Due to working out and this adaptation, your muscles are more efficient at burning calories all day long instead of just during and immediately after your workouts therefore you…

Just 2 things. They might have been mentioned, but I didn't feel like reading everyone's comments. #1) In the morbidly obese population (and overweight population), research shows that even a small percentage of weight loss can have significant positive impacts to health. Therefore, you don't need to lose it "all" (be your…

I took Depakote for epilepsy in high school and gained 60 pounds- but that is a different weight side effect because it actually increases appetite. The weight side effects in anxiety and depression meds are different. I am on Paxil for anxiety and depression after going through several months of non-stop panic, and I have…

I have a "female" one, but you still have to program gender when you set it up, so it shouldn't matter

There's a book out by Jerry Seinfeld's wife for parents with kids who are picky eaters called "Deceptively Delicious," with recipes that "hide" veggies in traditional recipes. That might give you some ideas on how to get them in your meals.

This person must have moved to NYC from New Orleans...this kind of thing doesn't seem wierd to me anymore

It's to show on your profile's feed so that you can reference it later. I dont' consider it "rude" since sometimes you don't get a chance to read all the way through a thread but don't have the time and so this way you can go to your profile, see what threads you responded to, and then read through it. Plus, this way you…

This looks awesome! Thanks so much for sharing!

I would say having a snack would be ideal or perhaps splitting your supper- have half of a portion when you get home or soup/salad and then the other half later on

I think it depends on what your feet need and how you walk. They can be bad for you if you are a pronator or have tendon problems. I will never wear them because I have a problem with my achilles due to a deformity on my heelbone. My cousin is a renowned pediatrist and discourages her patients from wearing them and my aunt…

Liberty, Don't feel bad, it takes more than a day to adapt to new habits. Try thinking about why you ate the snack. If were hungry then the comments about getting more protein and raising your calorie might help. If it was boredom or habit, try making a list of things you could do instead of eating when you feel that way,…

oops. I should read the whole thing, huh?

what pedometer do you have and where did you get it?

I also have epilepsy, that has been pretty well-controlled. I won't go into specifics here but please message me if you have any questions or topics you want to discuss.

I just want to point out that the main purpose of the diet is to prevent seizures and not to lose weight. It is not a "fad" diet. As a person with epilepsy, I know that it is an extreme situation that works for some people when they do not respond to other treatments or it is used with other treatments. Some seizures…

I have a polar F11, the website where I bought it had it priced the same as an F7. I like it but I think any of them will work just fine, it just depends on what kinds of functions you are looking for.

I have an elliptical, but I think it comes down to which machine/exercise you like more and which one you will use the most. I bought the elliptical because I like the exercise, I like the calorie burn, I like that it isn't hard on my knees, and I live in an area where I can walk/run outside. I think one thing is that you…

Well sodium is essential for your body to function. You definitely need your allotted sodium if you are very active/working out because you will be losing electrolytes. It is important to drink enough to keep you hydrated, and it will "flush" out some of the sodium, just be careful that you are getting a healthy balance of…

Exercise is beneficial for your heart, lungs, joints, bones, and brain to name a few. You need weight-bearing exercise to prevent chronic diseases and osteoporosis. It can also help with boosting mood, alleviating stress, and helping your memory. You can be a "healthy weight" and still develop heart disease, diabetes, and…

I have a Polar F11 and I really like it. I know that certain models of Polar HRMs are able to be worn while swimming, and I think they are the only brand currently that allows you to do so. You have to wear a chest strap, but it is hardly noticeable and it makes the reading more accurate. I would just start looking around…

I'm 24 and training for the Nike womens marathon in SF in October- I'm doing the half.
-
For the polar strap you have to wet the two transmitter strips in order to get an accurate and continuous reading.
-
You can wear a Polar in the water to record your HR while swimming, and that is why you must send it in to have the battery switched, so that it will be properly sealed. You can do it yourself, but then if something goes wrong you may not be able to get it repaired under warranty. I have a Polar F-11 and I love it.

Take a different route to and from the gym?
-
New shoes, especially if you are running/walking, and try to find a store that will watch you walk/run to see how the shoe is supporting your foot. Also, a HRM is a great thing to have. I'm so glad I have mine.

Actually, a bar/restaurant owner, manager, or even waitress can kick someone out of the bar if they have had too much to drink and in some states, the server is liable for any crime or damage the drinker may do after they leave that establishment. This is not a preventative act of course, throwing a known abuser out before…
