You can do the exact same thing, minus the oil, in the microwave. Just thinly slice the potato and arrange it on a plate or even a paper towel and nuke it for like 4-5 minutes. Not *quite* as crunchy as oven chips but still pretty good.

I've never felt guilty about eating pizza but I make mine from scratch and use a whole wheat crust, the smallest amount of cheese possible, home made sauce, and more or less a metric ton of veggies.

I wonder if this would work blending chocolate protein powder with some chocolate gelato or coconut milk ice cream instead of yogurt, for those of us who are dairy-free. That looks amazing! Also, almond butter.

OMG Olive Garden breadsticks. I die. My friend worked there for a time and gained about 30 pounds because she'd constantly snack on those things every time she went back to the kitchen. The secret to their deliciousness is basically an obscene amount of butter. Also, those little mint chocolates. I die again.

Okay, this may come across as harsh but I think it is important to point out and, well, it's a harsh reality. A severely eating disordered parent is not a good role model for a child, nor is it a great environment to be raised in a household with one. Pregnancy aside, you are not ready for parenthood if you can't have a…

I don't really plan cheats, I like to save them for special occasions (like yesterday my husband and I took a day trip) and then I try to plan very clean eating and maybe an extra workout session within the next few days to sort of balance it out. In my experience, one cheat day won't derail you - even a huge splurge isn't…

We're headed to the gym together in about 20 minutes/

The ability to pull off skinny jeans is more about proportion than weight. My friend who is overweight also has very long legs proportionate to her body and skinny jeans look great on her. Whereas I am not overweight at all but my legs are stocky so my proportions make skinny jeans look awful.

I feel like the American Southwest is not the ideal summer destination, weather-wise.

I'm 30 and I didn't notice any changes that weren't directly caused by my lifestyle and food choices.

I think a healthy diet should include a treat, and this is definitely not the worst you could do, treat-wise.

I want to do this ALL THE TIME when I see people stretching at the gym. So many injuries waiting to happen! (My qualifications are - former dancer and dance teacher. But I keep my mouth shut because I don't want to be That Person.) I have considered asking my gym (small, non-chain) if they would be interested in doing…

An article in the most recent issue of Pointe magazine (a magazine for ballet dancers) discusses coffee and its affects on health and fitness. Basically, the caffeine encourages your body to retain its glycogen stores longer, which means that the body can burn fat as fuel instead. This can help your endurance because that…

Absolutely. My husband lost about 30 pounds with minimal cut-backs in drinking. Our house is like Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce half the time. We have a well-stocked bar, collect wine, and love to go beer tasting. We drink a lot over here. I have to be a little more careful because I am dealing with vanity pounds here but I…

I'm not allergic to those things but I do work hard to avoid dairy, wheat, and oats so feel free to peruse my dairy for ideas!

My wrist tattoo is adorable. It is also small enough and placed in such a way that it's easily covered by my watch, if I so choose. It's the three little stars that are in the corner of each page of the Harry Potter books. I am not being even a little bit hyperbolic when I say that those books saved my sanity at a really…

Hair dye and most piercings, I say go for it. I don't think it's wise to essentially teach a teenager that his or her body "belongs" to someone else, even the parent. Give them a little freedom to make some of their own choices about their bodies or they'll never have any practice to prepare for when they're faced with…

I had one of those days last weekend! I ended up eating almond butter on toast (I would have literally ripped someone's head off for the bread particles between their teeth that day. I generally avoid bread.) and while I wasn't thrilled I'd eaten it, I felt much better and was able to put it behind me and proceed normally.

Chocolate sorbet or chocolate ice cream made with coconut milk! The chocolate flavor is usually pretty intense because it isn't diluted on your palate by the fat in the cream.

You might want to meet with a sports medicine doctor and get hooked up with some physical therapy. They will help you properly strengthen your ankle without further damage and be able to give you advice on how to handle your other work outs. They'll also teach you how to wrap it or what sorts of things you need to do from…

I have actually heard that it's better to use moisture-wicking material undies than cotton undies when you're sweating because cotton gets saturated and keeps the moisture close to the skin, which can be definitely not good. Thanks for the constructive replies, those who gave them. I will look around for some of these…

Because I'm interested in recommendations for pants and underthings from people who have figured out how to reduce visible panty lines. I'm pretty sure I never asked to be insulted or ridiculed for my perspective.
-
Okay, well you guys have your workout priorities and I have mine. I don't understand why you have to insult people who work out differently from you, but I guess if it makes you feel better... It really has nothing to do with other people looking at me and everything to do with how I see my own lines, which I feel get…

Not okay. In fact, this can be extremely dangerous. It can (not saying it automatically will) cause problems with your heart because of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. When I lived in San Diego, I remember hearing about a recruit at Marine boot camp who died suddenly from this.
-
Wrong. Also, for me it's not so much about "omg she's wearing underwear" as it is the way it accentuates unflattering body angles.
-
Why are wanting to look nice and working out hard mutually exclusive? I object to the insinuation that I don't work hard enough if I care about what my butt looks like. My entire physical training up until recently has been constructed on the premise that the harder you work, the more effortless and beautiful you should…

I have not found yoga pants, and I have looked, with built in liners or underwear type features. I should add that I am not comfortable wearing shorts.

I feel like for the kinds of workouts I do (mostly yoga and pilates, some lifting in a Body Pump class), I can't go commando. The yoga pants can ride up and camel toe is definitely the greater evil compared to panty lines! Also I am paranoid about my pants being too sheer in the butt when I bend and stretch.
