Hey y'all
I'm from Canada and want to plan a road trip to the USA this summer. Where have you visited and enjoyed? I really really want to do the Grand Canyon... is it all it's worked up to be?

It is something to see but the best way see the canyon is a flight over the canyon, you can also take a train from Williams Az to the canyon kind of a neat way to get there, and if you spend the night in Flagstaff Az they have a steak house there called Black Barts they have a dinner show production, they use the acting class students and music student from the local college. Where are you traveling from in Canada? have a great trip

I live in Utah and if you are going to go to the Grand Canyon you have to see some of our stuff on the way there. Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, they are all Natl Parks. Very neat and unique stuff. Might as well hit Yellowstone on the way down too, although we haven't been there yet we are anxious to go.
If you go down the east side of the state where Arches and Canyonlands are you can swing through the scenic hwy that goes through southern Utah and Bryce Canyon and Natural bridges is on the way and then there is a road near Zion Natl park that goes down into the North side of the Grand Canyon. There is also Mesa Verde in Southwestern Colorado and it is Cliff Dwelling from the ancient Native American tribes. Very neat. We are originally born and raised in Florida so all of the stuff out here is purely amazing to us, lol.0 -
If you are coming through MN, stop at Mall of America!0

Seattle and the pacific northwest are great if you like the outdoors. And the fish market at Pikes Place is worth it. Not quite the Grand Canyon but still a great place to go.0

If you are coming through MN, stop at Mall of America!
If you want malls, come to New Jersey. You will always be within 10-15 minutes of one.0 -

I feel like the American Southwest is not the ideal summer destination, weather-wise.0

Grand Canyon is a "must" visit! When you see it for yourself, it's literally breath taking. The pictures does nothing! Also come to San Francisco,CA and see the Golden Gate bridge. There's a lot to see in the city and all walking distance or cab/bus/cable car. If you want beaches, you'd have to go on the east coast because the west coast waters are cold. But San Diego is another great place which is about 10 hours away from San Francisco.
San Francisco always seem to rank very high on "must" see places in the U.S. If you do think of coming, add me and I'll give you some directions on where to go and what to see.0 -
My favorite place in the USA for beauty is the Monterey Peninsula. Tidepooling and beachglass scrounging are two favorite acctivities. The Point Lobos State Reserve is the pinnicle of coastal beauty, but Big Sur and the 17-mile drive are also great. Lots of restaurants, shopping, and you can find good lodging deals in Seaside or Pacific Grove near Asilomar State Beach.
But it is cold water, nad foggy in the summer so be ready for heat and cold every day.0 -

If you like shopping, this, but it's pretty much a day trip! In MN, I would suggest visiting Duluth and seeing a Paul and Babe statue. Uptown area is also really cool if you're into a more hipster vibe.0
