Good Rule of Thumb: Reserch suggests an active adult needs .8 to 1.0 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. Your weight in lbs. divided by 2.2 = your weight in kilograms your weight in kilograms multiplied by .8 = protein requirement per day Hope that helps

My wife is from there, lived in South St. Paul, but never ventured out to the cities. I think I would like to live right in Downtown Minneapolis, but want to make sure that would be safe. We also thought of St. Louis Park or Bloomington. Any thoughts on these areas?

Hi Everyone, I was offered a job in The Twin Cities and wondering if anyone is currently living in the area or has lived in the area that can give me there thoughts on Minneapolis/St. Paul? I spent a few days there last week and think it looks very nice, but i'm wondering about the people, culture, best/safest places to…

I don't know if you have King Soopers in your neck of the woods, but they have "Green Bags" for their produce. It is a regular plastic bag but releases the gasses that cause rotting. I REALLY helps in keeping produce fresher a lot longer. There is also an as seen on TV product called Grren bags. https://www.greenbags.com,…

Hi Everyone, I tend to do and hour of cardio (usually spin 3 days) six days a week. Every other day I also do another hour of strength training. I also tend to take the dog hiking a couple of times a week too. I have noticed the last few weeks that my body is generally really tired and my muscles aren't recovering as…

I don't mean to be harsh when I say this, but if you're only consuming that many calories and burning 800 - 900 at the gym at night, I'm shocked you haven't collapsed during a workout yet. As an example, I am 5'9 and 168lbs and this site has me consuming 1950 calories, thats 3 times what you're consuming! You are literally…

So tell me if you think my scale is broken. I bought a cheap $20 scale from target to track my progress. I check it once a week. This morning I step on the scale, and it reads 174lbs, which means I've gained 4lbs since starting this diet. Not convinced this was true, I tried it again, this time it reads 162.5lbs. I tried 2…

Welcome. I have suffered lower back pain for quite a few years. You should definitely stay away from the treadmill because it is high impact. I have found that spinning is great because it is very low impact, gives you a great cardio workout, and works on your core, which strengthens your lower back. The elliptical works…

Unfortuneatly I think you need to use a Full Fat Yogurt and needs to be Greek or Middle Eastern Yogurt. You can get it at a specilty store. (I think you can get it at Whole Foods Market if you have one in your neck of the woods. It also needs to be strained really well to keep it from being runny.

I have just started taking spin classes and I never realized how awesome they are. It's an hour of intense cardio and it really works your core. It"s low impact but you walk away each time thinking you"ve really accomplished something, and that gets the motivation up too. Plus it"s nice to have a good instructor because…

I'm in serch of some good, fast, workout music to put on my MP3 player. My current playlist is getting old. I like fast paced music (Techno, Industrial) for Cardio, and harder rock for strength training. (Disturbed, Ministry, Etc.) Anyone have any god music I may not be thinking of? My recent download was The Prodigy -…

Hello MFP folks, I'm in need of some guidence. When I began the assesment MFP calculated that I should be consuming 1950 calories a day. On top of this, I take a spin class three times a week so on those days a burn an extra 700-800 calories, which makes me able to consume about 2700-2800 calories a day. I find after…
