Small steps! Don't expect to change over night because you didn't get to where you are in one day. Remember that. Remember it's 80% in the kitchen, 20% in the gym. Focus on your foods. Log everything you put in your mouth and really notice how much more you're eating than you should be. Start slow with exercise. If you…

This happened to me too. I went from 188-144 in a few months my freshman year of college. Here's a link directly to phase 1 recipes, but her blog has all phases on it: http://www.kalynskitchen.com/2010/03/south-beach-diet-phase-one-recipes.html Also, I came across this cauliflower crust pizza recipe from someone on mfp. I…

I like the Jillian Michael's dvds because they're short workouts but effective and they're good for exercise beginners. Insanity is awesome. It's tough but I saw great results with it, but only stayed committed for the first month.

They're the only food I can eat right before a workout! They settle well in my stomach and they're perfect for smoothies.

i started out with the chobani with fruit and fell in love. i've also had dannon (not my fav). as far as plain, i've had chobani, greek god, and fage. i like them all and usually substitute the plain as sour cream because it does have a tangier flavor. for breakfast, i'll add berries and a little agave.

For long term, I would also suggest doing high intensity intervals. They're sooo helpful for increasing speed. Considering the race is only a few days away, I'm not sure if you'd see the results you're looking for. Come race day, I would probably start out my normal 5k pace (which is usually faster on race day because of…

Assuming this is the board we're supposed to use for November challenges, I'm doing the 30 Day Shred workout tonight. I'm skipping level 1 because the first time around, it wasn't challenging enough. So I started with level 2 on Nov. 1st. For those of you who have done the 30 Day Shred, you know what it's like. But for…

I love to do plank holds! Here's a link to an article which includes a video on how to do them correctly. http://physicalliving.com/the-right-way-to-do-the-plank-exercise/ Considering, you hold them for 30 seconds-1minute....I won't be doing 10 of them. Or should I? I was thinking 5-1minute holds.
-
perfect! thanks a lot.
-
Do we have a November thread yet? Or should I post my strength training exercise here?
-
Yum!! I'll have to try that. I also substitute portabella caps for burgers.

I started this recipe last night by soaking dry beans and started the crockpot this morning to have ready by dinner time. It's pumpkin chili from skinnytaste.com. Here's a link to the recipe: http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/10/crockpot-turkey-white-bean-pumpkin.html Because I'm vegetarian, I'm omitting the turkey…

Congratulations! That's very exciting. Keep doing what you're doing and just sign up for a 5k. I kept putting it off forever and finally just signed up for one so I'd HAVE to do it. I'm so glad I did and now I want to run them all the time. My run yesterday was the fastest I've ever run consistently at 7mph (or 8.5…
