I'm all about quick N easy! My oatmeal supper is this: oatmeal & water (or unsweetened almond milk for a decadent treat!). add 1/4 c raisins, 1/4 c chopped pecans, maybe some chopped up apple bits. stevia, cinnamon, a pince of cloves, and cook it in the microwave. For protein I either add a scoop of vanilla protein powder,…

Yeah, I'm a Beach Bum! Looks like a great team to me!

Paste this on your mirror: "IF YOU'RE TIRED OF STARTING OVER, STOP GIVING UP" . Or maybe this one (I have this one up on my own mirror) I AM MY ONLY OBSTACLE, THE REST IS JUST EXCUSES. That one slogan has been my mantra since January, and it's amazing how much it helps remind me that I have the choice, every minute of…

I think a short-term goal like this is a VERY good idea!

I used to get very discouraged and figure "why bother" and give up. I would use this as an excuse to get lazy again and eat a bunch of crap. Now I know it will happen due to water retention, and if I have a hard work out I already know I will show a gain of a pound due to the inflammation in my muscles. I found a…

dude, 30 lbs since Jan is 10 lbs a month--that's awesome and enviable! I plan on posting my photos this weekend too--not great but certainly better than 12 weeks ago!

all of the above! if you can't do pushups yet, do them leaning against a counter or on a set of stairs--the less angle you have the easier they are. If you have to, start doing them against the wall and work your way to more challenging ones! and Keep your back straight and abs tight--turns out abs are very involved in…

seems like all the fat-free dressing substitute sodium-some have nearly 500 mg for 1 serving!! Found a tasty one at Kroger: Olde Cape Cod Lite Sweet & Sour Poppy Seed dressing, has 80 cal per 2 TBS serving, but only 40 mg of sodium! I am willing to trade the calories for the sodium many days due to the fluid retention.

PW: 150 CW: 150 after last week, I'm glad it's not a gain! Great fun for this 12-week Challenge!

one question-how do you feel? if you feel more energetic, not hungry all the time, not cranky then it's better and give it time. You can't live the rest of your life going around always hungry, right? Hopefully this is a lifestyle change, not a quickie fix to lose weight and then go back to bad habits.

that's a reasonable question, s it deserves an answer! If I get home at 7 pm and try to get into bed around 9 pm (but rarely make it) that's 2 hours to eat, tend to my DH, clean up the kitchen, put the birds to bed, and get ready for the following day. Tonight I am staying up long enough to get in my 100 reps of Ab work,…

Reading thru this post reminded me that I have not re-calculated my BMR since losing 14 lbs on MFP. Now that I am a bit smaller, I don't need quite as many calories for my BMR. Thank goodness for exercise, because I really like to EAT!

Wow, I never made this connection! I'll be watching for this too. Darn biology!!!!

I was fine until mid-day Saturday. Dedicated the weekend to going to help care for my niece and nephew 2 hours away, so 2 nights away from home and all my routine. She is 7 mo. pregnant and was in the hospital with pneumonia, virus, and rapid heart beat for nearly a week. And having some contractions way too early. They…

by now you probably know that you can't "spot reduce." You can reduce your overall body fat while building lean muscle all over, including your abs. As you build ab muscles with exercise, they get "tighter" and take up less space underneath the layer of fat, but they still won't show up very well. when your overall body…

pasted on my mirror: I AM MY ONLY OBSTACLE, THE REST IS JUST EXCUSES QUIT WHINING AND JUST DO IT SWEAT IS FAT CRYING "I'M MMMEEEELLLTING!" (like the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz movie)

oh, yeah! early mornings are suppposed to be my workout time, but some days I find I've used my time allowance on MFP instead! I need to use it as my reward AFTER workouts! LOL:blushing:

if you're really hungry (and not just "wanna eat something") lots of weight lifters recommend lean protein like a shake or low-fat milk. the strategy is supposed to help prevent any attempt by your body to feed off your muscle mass while you are sleeping. LorinaLynn has it right: if you're hungry, you're not eating enough

downloaded Jetfit based on your post, now I'm starting to figure out how to make it work for me! thanks tinytim

I like my digital because it is what it is, I can't misread the weight it shows. And mine just shows whole pounds, not point-five or anything. I have a question for you--I'm just curious, do your scales show stones & lbs? I'm in the US where it's all in lbs and I've never been to a place where stone is the weight measure.

Obviously you know to check with a physician to see if there is a thyroid issue or something like that. Your diary is not public so we can't see what kind of foods you are eating and offer help. It may simply be that 38 is the magical age for you, when your body begins to think about changing. If your workouts do not…

I'm also thinking about it and got good replies from MFP peeps encouraging me to do it, so if I can find a way I will. I recommend you go to the warrior dash website if you didn't already, and also search YouTube for a couple of the really cool compilation videos to give the whole flavor. One vid is from a guy who…

Tuesday 3/20: 1 banana 1 apple 1 serving red bell pepper 1 serving grape tomatoes 2 servings shredded carrots 5 servings (yes, 5 whole cups) of Baby Spring Mix salad 2 servings of fresh blackberries 3 cups (6 servings I guess?) of delicious watermelon! totals: 10 servings of fruit and 9 servings of veggies  for…

that's a serving each of a vegetable and a fruit, right? green clover, red cherry--gotta be OK! but seriously, that's the way to think about living the rest of your life. I can't plan a life that NEVER lets me have treats! It's re-defining "treat" as that once in a great while thing, not (as popular media shouts all day…

PW: 153 (or was it 154? I can't find my post from last week and it was a gain, so I've deleted it from my brain) CW: 150 so close to breaking into the 140's, but maybe next week. NSV: had to try on 3 pair of summer pants yesterday to find some that are not too big!!

I'll tell you what;s REALLY funny--I work with a guy named Doc and inside my brain your logon name made me think you are a guy, except that you've been wearing dresses to work! Now I'm not being judgemental if you ARE a dude, but I'm supposing that you are not. this will be my first ever experience at the salon…
