  • I love my time at the gym and wouldn't want to "squeeze in" my work-out while I am trying to do my job. To me that would not be a true work-out. If you can make it happen, join a gym or get some equipment for home and give 100% to your work-outs.
  • Alright...I am finally going to bite! I have been using Polar for several years and have always LOVED them, but I am going to take a look at the Gramin website today and see what I'm missing! :) Thanks!!
  • UK version of "The Office" "Derek"
  • I sent you a message. :)
  • I wear a heart rate monitor for all my work-outs. I just log the work-out as cardio. I enter the time length of the work-out and the calories burned and I just "create a new exercise" and call it whatever I did that day: Back/Biceps or Chest/Triceps, etc...but I do not enter every exercise, number of sets and reps etc...
  • I recently discovered Optimum Nutrition's Extreme Milk Chocolate flavored whey protein. Have already gone through a 2 pound tub and bought the 5 pounder last night. This stuff is excellent, mixes well and comes in some great flavors. I also bought the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor to mix in some baked recipes. Look at…
  • I put my hand on my heart, that means I feel ya, real recognize real, and you're looking familiar.
  • Second the vote for Polar FT7...best there is! Don't need anything fancier than that!! Good luck!
  • I've done New Rules (loved it) and Strong Lifts (not so much) and I've got the giant Arnold book as well (great resource). But, the thing that remotivated me and is helping me transform my body is Jamie Eason's Live Fit Trainer. It's not a book, but a free 12 week program that you can find on bodybuilding.com. Google it,…
  • FT7 is perfect for fitness. I am on my second one now! I wear it during work-outs/sports and let it run on for about 10 minutes after my work-outs during the cooldown period and turn it off when my heartrate normalizes. The body is still buring hot during that time. You can also buy an alternate "soft strap" that, for me,…
  • I love the farro from Trader Joe's! It's in a little light blue bag near the pasta area. Farro is an ancient grain that is high in protein. Very healthy choice! Google it! You just boil it in water, so simple. Even my picky 12 year old son loves it!!
  • A delicious alternative to all the other great ideas is cooking the salmon in parchment paper. My very favorite way. Rub the fish with olive oil and season as desired. Cook at 420 degrees for about 20-25 minutes. Beautiful fish. Serve with farro and a vegetable and you are good to go. Google for ways to wrap the fish in…
  • I nearly choked on my sweet potato when I read that stupid hater article. The sweet potato that I carted to work, along with the other 3 meals, in my giant food transporter. Damn you OP, you have thrown me off schedule. I should be searching for the perfect "Leg Day" meme to post all over Instagram, FB, here, etc...
  • I just sent you a message. Good luck! You WILL do it!
  • Sent you a PM.
  • Black coffee and a banana does the trick for me. It's pretty cheap, too!
  • erickirb...where did you find those numbers? I like this and have never seen it listed that way before. Thanks for posting this!
  • All of the above, plus I always think about driving my heels through the floor. Just focus on pushing right through the heels if that makes any sense.
  • Excellent post! You have fricking nailed it.
  • We have a pretty nice gym set up in the garage. We have an elliptical, bike and treadmill, bench press/leg extension, pulldown/cable row set up plus a full rack of dumbells. We have jumprope, boxes to jump/step up onto, the big exercise ball and a balance board. We also installed a flat screen on the wall and some mirrors…
  • I like to do elliptical on the "intervals" setting. Check it out-very good work-out!! Stair Master on "intervals" is also a killer work-0ut.
  • You might want to look into the Paleo Diet or as it is sometimes called, The Caveman Diet. This is high protein and although it is not strictly a low carb diet, from what I understand it does eliminate the "bad" starchy carbs. The carbs eaten in Paleo are from fruits and veggies which have a low glycemic index compared to…
  • Stick with your plain old black coffee! It's awesome "GO" juice. Why start the Starbucks habit just cuz they're having a sale? Run the other way as fast as you can!! Lol...
  • I haven't had a rest day in 2 weeks so today I am committed to being lazy! Even though it is tough just to type this out, I will not exercise today! Oh, and also, I will eat whatever I want and not worry about logging. I need to do that once in awhile to keep things interesting. Tomorrow I will be back in the gym at 5:00…
  • Just a tiny weight loss this week: 4/21 = 174 4/28 = 167.8 5/5 = 167.2 Total weight loss so far is 6.8 lbs. Smaller measurements in my waist, upper arms, forearms, calves and neck this week. I have been doing pure cardio for the past 2 weeks so I will go back to weightlifting/cardio next week and see what the results are.…
  • Since we started the challenge on 4/21 I have been doing only heavy cardio and abs every morning at the gym. I stuck to my nutrition plan and dropped just over 6 pounds that first week. I agree with Keith, this second week has flown by. My plan for today is to try and stay under calories which has not been a problem…
  • Tonight I think dinner will be salmon, farro and a salad.
  • Great ideas, committment and motivation everyone! I knocked my work-out out early this morning. My son has volleyball practice at the park this evening so my extra challenge will be to walk/jog back and forth to the practice. Might even take the little doggie along for the fun!
  • 4/21 4/28 Weight=174 Weight=167.8 Bust-40.5 38.5 Waist-34.5 32.25 Hips-43 40 Thighs-25.25 23 Calves-15.75 15.25 Upper Arm-12.75 12 Forearm-10.5 9.75 Neck-14.5 14.25 After a week of hard work and clean eating I am very pleased with the results. 6.2 pounds gone and the fat is melting everywhere. Thanks again for putting this…
  • I love classic rock, especially '70's. BUT, when I am working out it is all about rap and hip hop. My favorites are Jay Z and all of his collabos, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot, Flo Rida, and on and on and on...
