  • Sweet Potatoes http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=64 vs. Reg http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=48 What it looks like to me is that sweet potatoes have A LOT more vitamins, kind of like the ones that are in green leafy veggies!
  • I feel you on the weight! I have never stayed a full cycle on hormonal birth control because of allergies/intolerance even at the very very low doses. Recently I had Mirena IUD put in and it has mild hormones. I also noticed like a 5-10 pound initial weight gain. After the 2nd cycle I'm okay back to pre IUD weight. I do…
  • Well a few questions to understand a little bit more.... How tall are you? How many calories are you eating a day? How much time per week/day are you working out (burning)? It may just be as simple as you're eating too few for the exercise you're doing currently.
  • I feel your frustration. The past two years I trained for a couple of marathons and halfs and experienced the same thing you are now. Because of the fact that you are burning so many calories per mile (appx 100 per mile), you're appetite will be increased. I found it very hard to lose weight while running, and actually…
  • Its funny you should mention this, I was watching Rachel Ray today part of her show was about this very topic!!! She had a specialist on who basically said that you crave certain foods because of the hormone spike/change your body goes through. She did recommend indulging in some calcium (i.e. low-fat cheese, ice cream,…
  • On top of pancakes with a drizzle of light syrup!
  • Hi although I don't have any credentials to back up my advice here... I'll tell you that I've managed to maintain a 30lb weight loss over the last 5+ years. I think your plan is very ambitious, and can be done. I would recommend having at least 1 real rest day given the workout you've put for yourself. I also would see…
  • I am with Courtney! As a runner they tout chocolate milk as a perfect post run recovery drink. The carbs and the protein in the chocolate milk are essential. for muscle recovery. http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-242-301--13200-2-1X2-3,00.html  If it's low fat chocolate milk all the better! Drink up, and…
  • Romaine Lettuce Grilled Chicken Goat Cheese Fresh Strawberries Light Raspberry Vinaigrette A delicious summer salad I could eat every day!
  • That sounds about right SBS. I was just hoping I could squeeze it into 3 days, I know the 4 days split (2 upper/2 lower) works well. I have been weight training since HS so I'm use to it, I'm just trying to be time efficient, as my schedule just got busier here recently. So I guess the only question is could those 4 weight…
  • I have a question for the runners out there. I am a regular runner 5-6 days a week and periodically training for half/marathons. I also like to weight train but am finding it difficult to balance with my running schedule (2 days running 8+ miles). I'd like to be able to weight train at least 3 days a week, but am unsure…
  • Ran 4.25... fell short of my 5-6 mile goal today (woke up late). Still a good run. :flowerforyou:
  • Hot or Ice tea works well too, as long as you don't add too much sweetener (artificial or not).

  • Here is the link from another post. It's a "Happy Weight Calculator" which helps you shoot for a weight that is healthy for you but still REALISTIC. http://www.self.com/calculatorsprograms/calculators/happyweight
  • I agree with what all have already said. Maybe your body takes longer to shed full pounds, and I understand the frustration. But just be patient and like they said come here for support when you feel like giving up. Oh and one thing I thought of, because I recently went through something similar. Do you have excess…
  • Two of the best salads I ever tried had fruit in them. One I remember had Romaine, Granny Smith or Golden Delicious apple slices, chopped toasted walnuts and a raspberry vinaigrette. Another one had spring/spinach greens fresh strawberries, a balsamic vinaigrette and some chopped walnuts also.
  • This recipe worked beautifully. This frosting dries hard in couple of hours and does so even quicker in the refrigerator. I tried this earlier this week. Although the frosting is hard to make low cal because it is basically pure sugar... I found a great low fat/low sugar Sugar Cookie recipe and they came out…
  • I like half a banana and a tablespoon of almond butter. Or sometimes I mix 1/2 banana and 1 cup of papaya with light vanilla yogurt. There's also a slice of whole wheat bread with some PB.... just gotta make sure you get your carbs and protein after a workout!
  • I think that may be right, but it really will depend on your weight. I know when I do the elliptical and my heart rate gets int that range I'll burn about 15 calories a min. That is why sometimes I will just do a faster pace and less resistance... and still burn the same calories.
  • We have a bulk box (from Sam's I think too) of the mini fudgesicles and they are yummy! Only 50 cals a bar and very smooth chocolaty consistency... I definitely would recomend these.
  • I listen to just about everything.... Although hip hop is not always best for jogging/fast paced walking I found Lil Wayne's - Let it Rock Others... No Doubt - Just a Girl The Caesars - Jerk it Out Madonna ft Justin Timberlake - 4 minutes (great for that last lap!)
  • Yea! I'm "training" though... so at some point I should be able to say I did 20 miles!!! But yea I worry because I'm a girl, running alone (and far out) on a lonely bike trail. But I agree it would be perfect "me" time if I wasn't such a chicken.
  • I got up prepared to do my "long run" on the only bike trail in my town, with a friend. Only to find out I'd been flaked on! :noway: I had to drag myself out to do it. Regardless I opted to the gym (running alone is not something I'm okay with) I was able to do 10 miles at a steady pace, 1 mile short of what I should have.…
  • Don't be so hard on yourself! I:flowerforyou: t happens to all of us on this road to healthier eating. Just look at in a better light, you got a lot of really good nutrients that you most likely don't get throughout other days. So you've kind of stocked up on 'em. What helps is measuring things out, it might seem like a…

  • I just bought a HRM recently also, I opted for the F6. Primarily because of the color choices ( I love green! ) but I also do spin class and didn't want to have to run the risk of cross communication between monitors. I love it so far, and from what I hear if group exercise isn't your thing the F4 is probably a…
  • There are two sites that I know of: http://www.reusablebags.com/store/reusable-bottles-c-19.html or www.kleankanteen.com I think the actual Sigg water bottle company has stopped selling on their website due to high demand, and shortage! I got the best deal on "reusablebags.com" got mine for under $20!
  • Well in my opinion regardless on where you sit on the plastic vs other material water bottles. Plastic is bad for the environment, so maybe using a different type of water bottle might be good for that reason alone!:flowerforyou: I got mine from a company that makes stainless steel water bottles, called Kleen Kanteen, they…
  • Hi everyone, thanks for the welcome. I have never done anything other than a small 5k which a lot of fun! I will definately keep you guys updated, I am 3 months from my race date and starting to run longer, I have 10 miles this weekend.:noway:
  • Hey everyone this is my first time really getting involved with a community like this, but I think it will be a good thing. I'm full of a lot of momentum at this point in my life. I recently got my BA in Psychology and am now training for my very FIRST marathon. I'm super excited for this event. Which is not only for me…
