  • Thanks for all of the kind words about by grandfather, everyone. I know he was ready to go, he had been struggling for awhile, but it's still hard. I've been faithful to p90x, though, so far. Legs/back/arx was pretty good yesterday, and I just finished kenpo. Does anyone know if it's possible to rip the dvds and put them…
  • Yoga done. I got some pretty sad news today, found out my grandfather died this morning. If it had been any other day besides yoga day, I probably would've skipped the workout, but I thought maybe yoga would help even me out a little. I admit I was crying through the first 20 minutes or so, but then my mind did calm and I…
  • Thanks for all of the input on how you guys eat. I eat fairly responsibly, and I have not been following the p90x plan, but counting calories with mfp. I've been doing 1200 plus exercise calories, although to be honest a lot of times I haven't eaten all of them, especially since I seem to be doing a lot of extra cardio…
  • Ugh, it's been frustrating for me too. I haven't lost any lbs and so far my measurements are the same, although it's obvious from the progress in my workouts that I'm getting stronger. I was just trolling the beachbody site, and the consensus there seems to be that the noticeable physical results happen around phase 2.…
  • Just finished Plyo. Felt pretty good! Feels even better now that it's done, lol. Funny story--my calves have been SO tight the past few days due to legs/back and a big run on the same day, and was even a little hard to walk without hobbling (especially after sitting with bent legs for awhile, like after the movie I saw on…
  • Ugh, I'm definitely feeling down today. I've plateaued hardcore. For MONTHS I've been hovering around 163, and it doesn't seem to matter what I do or don't do. I'll go down 1 or 2 or up 1 or 2. I'm doing everything right, according to the numbers. My next step, I guess, is to get a heart rate monitor so I can actually see…
  • you look great! the IMG needs to be img, I changed them for you :)
  • Just found Tony's fan site on facebook. You bet I clicked like! I think I have a little crush...
  • Just finished chest/back and ARX and GUESS WHAT!!! I did ALL of ARX! 100%!!! I'm SOOOOO proud of myself! This is a first, if that wasn't obvious. It makes up for the fact that chest/back was a little less than stellar... I think it's because I did legs/back on Saturday instead of Friday, so my pull up muscles only had a 2…
  • Extreme but doable. I love that! I also did 30DS right before I started, and I thought it prepared me so well! P90X seemed like a perfect amp up. Welcome! Bring it!
  • Gidget--awesome results!! Did you post any before/after pics?
  • Debi--Ditto to what everyone else said, and to add to it: we're all on this journey together! That's kind of the idea of this unconditional support group, right? So there's no shame in admitting whatever you need to admit. Hey, there's no shame in slipping into old habits, either, we're only human! So with that being said,…
  • Karincakes--I am feeling better and my show was awesome, thanks! Where are you going on vacation? Just finished Kenpo, and it is way fun. I should be back on track for next week now that the sickies are 95% out of me! My legs are furious with me, though. As it turns out, I probably shouldn't go for a 50 minute run on the…
  • I'm on day 14. So far I am not taking supplements, although I do think a recovery drink is a good idea. I have not been doing that either but I know my body is craving it! Welcome to the P90X community!
  • That apricot chicken recipe looks awesome, can't wait to try it. Took yesterday as my sick rest day, so today I decided to do legs/back/ARX. It was pretty hard, but that's probably because I led my 50 minute run this morning so my legs were already a little spent. For a minute this morning I thought I'd also do Kenpo X…
  • I've been estimating based on similar things in MFP, and it's frustrating. Hopefully I'll feel like I can afford a heart rate monitor soon, because I'd REALLY like to know. Yoga X, for example--MFP says I burn about 260 for the entire 90 minutes, but my MFP friends with a HRM are logging closer to 700. That's a pretty big…
  • Well, I napped today instead of bringing it. I NEVER nap, so I must have really needed it. And my show went well. :) Tomorrow I'm training a bunch of people for a 5k, and I wanted to take them on a very cool 5.2 mile course, but that might be too much for me, since I'm still kinda goopy! We'll probably just run for time…
  • Hey--anyone have any advice on being sick and still pushing play? Or not? I think I'm on day worst of my cold today. I did yoga yesterday and it made me feel better, but I am not getting those kind of vibes when I think about doing legs/back. I slept really poorly last night because of the congestion and stuff, so I'm…
  • Was it someone in this thread who recommended using a weight as a stand-in for a yoga block? I did that today and it worked really well (I would need the block for added flexibility, not help with balance--I just put a weight at the edge of my foot and magically had many more inches to stretch  ). Just finished Yoga…
  • gatedialer--Aside from the dvds, you'll need some weights (or handled resistance bands) and a pull up bar (they demonstrate using bands instead of a pull up bar, but I tried that and found it WAY less effective). And you'll definitely want a yoga mat, especially if you're on a hard surface. I think you can probably get by…
  • heart rate monitor, definitely. that's going on my list! and something fairly inexpensive that i think ROCKS is Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred dvd. there are 3 20 minute workouts and they are butt kickers. I can't believe how quickly my strength improved when I was doing that dvd almost every day.
  • Shoulders/Arms and ARX done. I like ARX more every time I do it. Well, lies, I love it AND hate it more  One of these days I'll pony up for a HRM, I REALLY want to see how many calories I'm actually burning. I don't sweat that much during shoulders and arms, but I certainly do during ARX. Karen, you inspired me to…
  • I always count herbal tea, but since green tea has some caffeine I don't know if that skews it at all? I do count it, but I always wonder.
  • It's definitely expensive. I lusted after the dvds for over a year before ebaying them for half price. But even after 9 days I feel like it's worth every penny! I've been wanting to try zumba too, but have felt to cheap to pay for a class! Lol.
  • Emmy--I think you have to go to the exercise ticker site and log each day, which is sort of annoying. That's what I did. It makes sense for people who have tickers for how many miles in a month or something, that they'd have to manually log it each time they make progress. Hope that helps!
  • profjan--It's such a roller coaster! Feel free to vent. And then come back here to get your unconditional positive support :) xavier--thanks. I've actually been really proud of myself for how well I'm doing with the program, I'm a lot stronger than I thought I was and that is a very fine thing. And I'm pretty sure the…
  • Thanks, Chris. That's along the lines of what rational me was thinking, I just have to get emotional me on board :) Strangely, though, I never noticed this when I was training for marathons, but it is totally possible that I am working out harder during p90x than I ever did on my long runs. Those runs took forever, but the…
  • Welcome, Alisha! I got off to a frustrating start today :grumble: I've gained a few lbs the past week or so. I'm on Day 9 of P90X, so it could be that my body is trying to adjust to the massive amounts of exercise I've been doing, but it's still really disheartening. But I'm gonna stick to this mantra: Do your best and…
  • Be selfish, Sara, it's ok! :) I had to, it was too hard to coordinate with my boyfriend (his work schedule right now is super intense), so I cut him off. Ha, not really, we just agreed that I'd do it on my schedule and he'd join me when possible. Just finished Plyo, and I've gotta say this is by far my favorite of the…
  • Day 8. Legs and back and ARX. Feeling good, proud of my work today. My neck sprain is acting up a little, but it sort of feels like it's working itself out? Like the pain is moving in order to heal? That or I'm causing permanent damage, lol. I'll pay very close attention and stay careful. The injury is now five months old…
