  • I want in! Sept 17 is perfect for me, I'm getting over a really bad cold right now. But even if we start out of sync, we can still support eachother in the same group! When I did p90x I had a similar group with slightly staggered start dates and folks doing different versions of the program, and it still worked really well…
  • I'm about 161 right now, and maintaining without really trying. I'm a US size 10, sometimes 8. My highest was 178. I have my goal at 150, but to be honest, I feel VERY appealing at 157. I'm in front of cameras a lot, though, so 150 would probably work really well, if I can ever get that low, and I'm assuming that would put…
  • Garlic and onion both give me pretty major headaches and stomachaches. There's a theory going that I'm a vampire...
  • If you can attach resistance bands to something up high, Tony generally offers a modification of pull ups that way. But it probably won't feel as badass  As far as nutrition goes, I'd say just listen to your body. But I guess it really depends if you're trying to lose weight, or maintain and tone.
  • I have pretty uncomfortable bloating too (like the difference between flat tummy and 6 months pregnant tummy). When I eat grain free, it goes away. Obviously a doc will have the best advice, but if you're like me, without health insurance or much money, trial and error is a good way to start! I Know there's a particular…
  • Whoa whoa whoa... cauliflower crust? That sounds AMAZING. Does that mean it's grain free?
  • I say do it! It's great cardio, too, so it'll help you drop weight, probably. And there's no shame in doing it for longer than 30 days!
  • I try to eat this way too. It started when I did the Whole30 program (google it, it's basically eating clean and no grains). I felt AMAZING and while I didn't lose any weight, I looked like I lost about ten pounds, since (probably for the first time in my life) I wasn't bloated anymore! My stomach got SUPER flat. And now,…
  • Hmmm... anyone?
  • I LOVE mine! My transition wasn't too tough since I did all of my workouts (except running) barefoot anyway, so my feet didn't really get confused. My calves certainly noticed, though, as I changed my footfall. I started with just a few minutes at a time, with walk breaks. In fact, I'd carry my traditional shoes with me on…
  • Holy cow. Way to go! I so love Tony!! Be honest, though--Shakeology--is it gross?
  • I do have an HRM, and here's about what it boiled down to for me: I'd burn between 400-500 for plyo, kenpo, and legs/back, somewhere in the 300s for the other strength days, and around 250 for yoga. Even though I would sweat buckets (literally, if I collected it it would probably fill a bucket), yoga just doesn't keep your…
  • That's an amazing 5k time! I wish I could get mine down that low! Way to go!

  • Remember that you see you everyday. I bet if you asked someone who hasn't seen you since 10 lbs ago, they'd see the difference! But since you saw yourself yesterday, and the day before, and the day before, the slow progress looks like nothing. I'm 5'8" and just dipped under 160, and I feel like I can see every single pound…
  • I totally get this--I have similar casting concerns all the time (although I'm not as thin as you are). I've had GREAT success not with low carb, but with a grain free diet. I didn't lose a million pounds immediately, but I DID lose what felt like a million inches from my belly, because I was suddenly not bloated for the…
  • I haven't seen it yet, and I probably will when it gets to the $3 theater near me, but as a rule: movies based on Broadway musicals are generally terrible (hard for film to capture the magic and energy of a live show like that), and Broadway musicals based on a Jukebox are also generally pretty blah... which makes this a…
  • Thanks guys! I was thinking about it, and I want to work out more to battle lethargy than to battle weight gain. These days, feeling like a lump is even worse than looking like one  I'll probably give it a week and then search for some nice Richard Simmons gear. (I wish yoga or pilates or any other strength training…
  • There's ABSOLUTELY a difference! It can be hard to see yourself, since you see yourself every day. But I'm certainly impressed! Keep up the great work!
  • I'm voting with invite only the kids you like. I'm dealing with a similar scenario--I'm recently engaged, and while we haven't started the official wedding planning, I know it will be an issue when it comes to my fiance's family. His mother, more specifically. Half of the time I'm of the opinion that I don't want anyone…
  • I usually use two mats (on top of each other) for yoga and ARX. I have a lot of disc problems due to a car accident 1.5 yrs ago (mid back and neck, mostly), but the only things I've associated pain with are some of the yoga moves (like shoulder stands) and Dreya rolls (although with two mats they are fine for me). I have…
  • I'd say listen to your body. I did 10 of each and was really satisfied, but if you feel like you're still getting a huge benefit from a level, stay there. That being said, your body adapts pretty quickly to the same routine, which is why she advises switching after 10 days. You'll probably find that you're ready to move on!
  • I use a heart rate monitor and then log it accordingly. My burn is drastically different depending on which day it is (Ex: Shoulders and Arms burns way less than Plyo, regardless of how much I get through).
  • From this point on, whenever I use it it will only stand for New Super Villain. AMAZING.
  • I do a yoga DVD fairly regularly (right now I'm using P90X with Tony Horton leading), but for me there is no replacement for an actual class. I tend to be more focused, work harder, and feel better with a live teacher and other humans near me. Maybe it's the competition factor or maybe it's more misty-woo-woo, like…

  • Shoes. I love my HRM, but when I got fitted for the right shoes, my shin splints went away completely. Even on concrete. Even after 20 miles at a time.
  • I think it depends on the brand, for sure. I researched the ones at Walmart because I assumed I'd get the best price there, but I couldn't find anything I liked (or that other people had reviewed well). I ended up at Target for around $40 (a New Balance N4 with a chest strap), and I've been VERY happy with it for the past…
  • Sit ups and crunches don't burn much for me. Strength work just doesn't burn a high number, sorry. It makes up for that by increasing your burn all day long (the more muscle you have, the more you burn at rest). I can do all of P90X Ab Ripper X (about 16 min of pretty vigorous ab work, and my HRM says less than 100,…
  • 5k for charity in the morning with a bunch of friends. BEST way to start this holiday!
  • You'll get there :) I just finished Core Syn, which is Day 1 of week 2 of Lean. Felt pretty good.
