  • I'm 22 weeks today with my first and baby and I have ran almost 375 miles together. I'm slowing down but a lot of that has to do with crappy weather and not enough daylight. I obviously changed some of my ab routine but really haven't changed much. I was thin but athletic when we conceived and have been diligent about my…
  • Half marathons are my favorite distance and I'm registered for one in Oct at my 12 week mark. I'm going to give up my sub 1:45 goal and just run for fun. I've been tired but sticking with training. The heat scared me the first few weeks of Sept so I cut back a bit. I live in a rural area and have a few running friends but…
  • I'll be 8 weeks on Monday with my first. We found out we had conceived naturally while getting an ultrasound at a fertility clinic that was intended for a follicle count.....what a surprise! I'm a runner and baby and I have already ran 127 miles together. I lift 1-2 times a week and occasionally take a yoga class. I'd…
  • Will be 8 weeks on Monday. I run between 20-30 miles a week (so at least 5 days a week) strength train 1-2 times a week and love to add a yoga class when I can. I will keep this up and modify as I have to but it really does good for me to be able to still exercise. I'm still tracking my food and now watching my macros…
  • I lost mine for a time in college and everyone just assumed it was exercise/diet related. It was NOT and it took years to come back. Give your Dr or physcian's asst or nurse practicioner a call.
  • I'm 5'10 and 150. BF% is about 20%. I've been as low as 120- that was hard to maintain and I didn't feel very good. I'm going to stick between 145-150, I'm a size 6-8 and feel stronger than I ever have.
  • I used Hal Higdon to train for a half and Jeff Galloway to train for a full. Jeff Galloway's was longer (more weeks) but the Mon-Fri mileage was managable with my busy work schedule. You can find good, free training program in some magazines like Runners World, Self, Shape, Fitness. Good luck and enjoy- races are SUCH a…
  • Totally agree about the race shirt. And there is NO way I can run without my gps- I'm pretty sure my legs won't work without it.
  • I'm sorry you had a bad day, I feel your pain. You're beautiful on the outside and I'm sure on the inside as well. Do something nice for yourself like try out a new class at the gym or buy yourself a cute pair of tennis shoes----there is sooooooo much more to you than a pic.
  • Same thing happened to me about a month ago- some of mfp friends gave me good suggestions for handling it: To the person who most likely said it with good intentions (my assistant)- I gave her a hand written note thanking her for her concern and assuring her that my health is my top priority. I took her out to lunch later…
  • "so are you enjoying the new baby?" I don't have kids......
  • Law school does not mean you'll get a cushy job as a lawyer----I think the unemployment rate for lawyers is higher than most occupations (at least in my area). I have maaaaaanny family members and friends that chose that route (I chose MBA) and 5 years after graduation they are still struggling. Like the others said- don't…
  • Both are good- one isn't better or worse than the other. Running will burn more calories but the elliptical has good qualities too. No reason why you can't use both! I'm a runner and recently a running magazine I subscribe to did an article on the value of the elliptical. If you're interested, just visit the Runner's World…
