  • i just had the same exact thing happen
  • I've had 3 really bad episodes of this in my adult life. Seen 2 different dr's, had cortisone shots (which never lasted more than a month), gone to weeks of therapy, & in-home therapy. Even had it in both feet for almost a year. It's a real bummer when it's flared up. What helped me the most -- good shoes, & not going…

  • Congrats! Yes, your face says it all! Celebrate!! 'throws confetti' :)
  • 51, wife, mom, grandma, bus driver, & menopausal. been on MFP since 2009. I'm somewhere between 5'3 1/2-5'3 3/4". My wedding weight & post baby weight was 130-145. I've been up & down with my weight for 25 years 168-220. I'm back & determined as getting older has brought on some health issues. Current wt is 207. Friend…
  • this is me, but my range is 30-40 lbs. lost & gained each year.. doing so for over 20 years. I can lose it, just not maintain it. when I'm losing, I'm very healthy & active. when I'm gaining, I binge, pretty much every 2 hours/daily, which prevents me from being very active. :/
  • try to find another activity to replace your eating episodes....a craft, a game, exercise, call someone, meditate, listen to music, paint your nails, read....things you enjoy. be fully aware of your behavior and have a plan. A **positive** plan. If it occurs at the same time every day, set a reminder or alarm on your…
  • I've been a binge eater for 20+ yrs, which has resulted in 30-40 lb a year weight losses and gains. I learned in May about some health issues. I decided to be pro-active. So, far it's working, and I've lost over 25 lbs. The first thing I did was I made a daily reminder on my phone. I see it every single time I do anything…
  • as a 20+ yr binge eater, for me, it will always be a struggle. health issues plagued me this spring. I decided to be pro-active. what is working this time? 1. I have a 'reminder' that is on my phone. I see it EVERY time I access my phone. It's mostly for motivation and keeping me on track. 2. I removed all trigger/binge…
  • I'm a pro binge eater, inverted triangle shape/apple. the 'girls' never seem to go. tummy, rear first. and my calves, thighs get toned the quickest. upper arms last or never. yes, it's annoying. I'd rather lose it all over, at the same time. down 23 lbs since May 13. 5" off my belly.
  • also, to the over night oats...I've added Greek yogurt for added protein and a smoother consistency.
  • Remember those belts you could wrap around your fat bits and vibrate the fat away? My grandmother had one in her basement. My siblings, cousins, and I would sneak down and take turns on it (1970-1980's). When she passed I was the one who elected to keep it. I don't use it, but it still works!
  • In July of 2015 these were my labs - chol 176 (120-200) trig 160 (High, <150) HDL 47 (>39) LDL 97 (<100) I was overweight/obese, eating very unhealthy....fast food, real butter, a diagnosed binge eater. not exercising. In December of 2015 my LDL was 147. Yes, it jumped 50 points. I do take Simvistatin 40 mg. My…
  • just acquired AARP status about 2 weeks ago....the big 5-OH!
  • 8-12 cups of water a day, feel better with 12. 8 oz almond milk, rarely a soda. I have a 32 oz aluminum water bottle (don't have to buy bottled or recycle). goal is to fill it & down it 3x a day. Has a lid, so it goes wherever I go...work, shopping, errands, home on the counter.
  • Yes, I care. fresh fruit & veggies, low-fat dairy (cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese/lower sodium version), grilled meat (chicken/pork/beef), seafood, eggs, oatmeal, whole [unsalted nuts], protein shake with almond milk, peanut butter, triscuit crackers, homemade salad dressing using EVOO/fresh salsa.... I typically keep my…
  • I've had success in the past with eating more fiber : black & red beans, lentils, high fiber breads, ground flax seed, & oatmeal. My goal was 30-40 grams/fiber a day, which might not work for everyone.
  • I have eliminated some foods, just because I thought they were so unhealthy (hot dogs, mac n cheese, sugary cold cereals). but I have plenty of other foods I restrict, and then I cave and binge. Currently, I am 'avoiding' potato chips - all of them. There are very little in the house right now. I am watching my sodium…
  • re the question about binging on chicken, lettuce, apples. that's a no for me. But, I will eat too much of say carrots AND dip, apples/celery AND peanut butter. Never the healthy foods (alone) for me. I think my binging is mostly unhealthy, junk food, sugary, carb-y, salty foods. Usually crunchy too. Fast food can take me…
  • alphastarz & vannyn42, you both give some great, healthy alternatives, suggestions for beating OR satisfying an urge/binge. thanks. I've seriously considered putting yellow caution tape or post-it notes all over my kitchen. Too bad my kitchen does not have it's own door. It'd would be locked when I am home alone. Last…
  • I think an outpatient program could work. However, those that go in for drugs, alcohol don't need that to survive. We need food to survive. I admit, I have a really bad relationship with food, but it goes way beyond that. It's psychological. There is a root to this problem. I never did this as a child or teenager. I truly…
  • Interesting reading all of your responses....all that I can definitely relate to. I have been a pro at binging for a good 20 yrs now. I can binge for no real reason....mostly emotional. Bored. Tired. Anxious. Happy. Sad. My therapist of 8+ yrs gave me an assignment to do...one that I had to be fully aware - of what I was…
  • I've struggled with my weight for 20 yrs. Only 2 yrs ago my therapist diagnosed me with binge eating. Just yesterday, I finally told my husband. A few of my close friends know, but no family. I'm too embarrassed. It's obvious to anyone who knows me that I have a weight problem. I really think the disorder is related to…
  • I have the Leslie Sansone 1-2-3 mile set, 15-30-45 min. I can choose to use my handheld weights, 3 lbs and have gone as high as 8 lbs...depending on my fitness level. I like her dvds and if the weather is bad outside, I just walk with Leslie.
  • Don't think of it as a New Year's resolution, but a New LIFE resolution. In your original post you comment that you lost weight, unhealthily eating only 1000 cals. My time line is very similar to yours. Except I started in my early 20's, and am nearing 50 now. I know how to lose weight, exercise..the whole mechanics of…

  • Although I'm still a work in progress...I finally feel like I have my head in this...for life. I've been a yo-yo dieter for many many years....15+. That alone is very destructive....mentally and physically. Getting tired of 're-starting'. Making a commitment every day to strive towards better health...and having the desire…
