Bench press twice a week. No more or less. 8 reps is too many for adding maximal strength. You start to get into the endurance range at 8+. I would recommend doing 5x5s for any beginner. That's 5 sets of 5 reps each. Only try to for more reps on the last set. When you can do 8 reps on your last set, add weight. Grip the…

2410 - 2200 = -210 Calories/day. 3500 / 210 = 16.67 days to lose 1 pound. That's rather slow and doesn't leave much margin for error. Also, at that rate, water weight variations will make any change undetectable for a month or more. I had great results with a 500 Calories/day deficit which from what you're saying would be…

Correct. Totally pointless.

I was at 25/35/40 for a while, but recently changed slightly to 30/35/35. 40% is a lot of protein imo.

Yes!

You burn calories faster with higher intensity exercise. Heart rate is just used an indicator of exercise intensity. No exercise will ever "burn fat". Eat less calories than you burn, and your body will burn fat. Exercise only helps create the calorie deficit. Edit: Heart rate is highly variable between individuals. Don't…

Running works nearly every muscle in your body to some extent, if done properly. The primary muscle worked is the heart, hence the name cardiovascular exercise.

No, we spend a smaller percentage of earnings. Those lowest 20% are poor and spending nearly all of their money on food and still not eating enough to be healthy by our standards.

There is no magic food(s). Lose body fat to correct the problem, and keep sodium intake low to keep the condition from killing you in the meantime. You should really be asking your doctor that question.

Below 1200 net is too low is what the experts say when losing weight. I use http://calorieneedscalculator.com/ or just MFP

I'd recommend either Stronglifts 5x5 or Starting Strength by Mark Rippletoe. Rippletoe has some good beginner videos on youtube on how not to hurt yourself.

I think they use the Harris Benedict equation or something similar. http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/harris-benedict-equation/

Samuel L. Jackson Edit: In the cartoon version, Eddie Murphy would do my voice.

It's already factored in. A good guideline is to count anything you are doing specifically for exercise, not things you would have done anyways.

Go as heavy as you can, then next week go heavier. Yes, you will be much more prone to injury. It's risk vs. reward. If you don't know how to lift properly, get trained by a reputable professional. Good form is essential to preventing injury.

Many people believe that when exercising and trying to build muscle, additional protein in the diet is helpful or even necessary. Protein powders provide an easier way to consume large amounts of protein than eating pounds of chicken breasts or tuna. You don't need protein powder to lose fat.

Right. Food isn't only Calories, it's vitamins and nutrients too.
-
Drink Calories as milk, juice, shakes, or smoothies. Eat high-calorie low-bulk foods like nuts.

I checked your diary. You are staying under Calories. That is more important to fat loss than what you eat.
-
Pounds are something you check for progress when you aren't losing inches. Inches are the point, right?

So you know, many foods in the MFP database do not have the potassium listed. You are probably getting more than MFP shows if you are eating fruits and veggies. One place I go to double-check things is http://nutritiondata.self.com/ which is based on the FDA database

Thanks for the link to the counter-argument.

Nobody commenting thus far has had the 90 minutes it would take to watch this video and make a judgement. Who's being alarmist here?

Bookmarked to watch later.

Yes. Slower is better. The only reason people don't just eat the maintenance Calories for their target weight is impatience.

Consistency is key.

The label on mine lists nutrition info for pan-fried bacon. The nutrition in bacon will vary greatly cooked or not, so it's an average.

Good idea. Given my penchant for cooking cheeses in odd ways, I'll almost certainly try this.
