  • I get rid of them. I know I won't ever need them again because I can stick to this lifestyle for the rest of my life. I have saved a couple as a reminder of how big I used to be, though!
  • My problem is that when I see a shirt or pants that fits me, I can tell it fits me... but it doesn't look any smaller than the big cloths I wore at my highest weight. I remember the first time I tried on a medium shirt at the mall. I was like, "wow, this medium is HUGE. No wonder I fit. Must be one of those billowy style…
  • My dad is 5' 4" and he had no problem walking at 5mph (or even faster). He's been a walker for a long time, though. Back when he was in middle school, he walked to and from school every day to save on bus fare (school was 5.5 mile walk from his home). My walking speed has definitely improved as my fitness level improved,…
  • Does your elliptical have an option to input your age? Tell your elliptical that you're 18 years old, and it should let your heart rate get higher.
  • I've always wanted to go hang gliding (tandem with someone experienced), but have put it off because I felt I was too heavy for it. In retrospect, I probably wasn't too heavy since I was "only" 186lbs, and there are plenty of healthy, fit people in that weight range... I wasn't necessarily heavy, just FAT.
  • My COMPRESSION PANTS were falling off during my run. I had to pull them up constantly.
  • I weigh myself daily as well. Staying at the same weight for a few days straight isn't always an indication of a problem. Sometimes you don't lose weight gradually; you lose weight in whooshes and mini-stalls. That's what's been happening to me lately. And since you're less than 15 lbs from your goal weight, the pounds may…
  • Awesome! This birthday, you got younger instead of older :flowerforyou:
  • Cold Stone is the only thing I quit cold turkey. Everywhere else, I still eat at. There are some decent menu choices at Olive Garden... the breadsticks are definitely evil though. Good thing I never liked them in the first place (don't like how salty they are).
  • That sounds good to me, though we probably need more votes before we do anything :)
  • One million isn't enough to support this family for the rest of my life, so I'll have to invest a good portion of it into a new, sustainable career that will.
  • Before I started losing weight, my bro used to think I had broad shoulders. Turns out it was just fat on my ribcage and my arms pushing my arms outward.
  • on its edge, not "it's" I've actually never heard edgewise/ edgeways before!
  • What's a cruise like? I've never been on one, and am curious about it. I do want a nice vacation reward, but not sure if it'll be a cruise or not.
  • You don't have to love yourself the way you are RIGHT NOW. You just need to love the best version of yourself, and you need to truly believe that with dedication and patience, you can get there. I sure as hell don't love the jiggly fat on my belly, but once that's all gone (and replaced with nice muscle tones), I'll be…
  • There are quite a few people who lose a large amount of weight by starving themselves. :( In Korea, every girl in my generation knows at least one girl from their class who lose weight that way, usually over summer vacation.
  • I think I want the whole package. I mean, I definitely want to look good. But if that were all I cared about, I'd just get cosmetic surgery and be done with it. Obviously I care a great deal about doing it the right way, and achieving health and strength along with it. Even if I were offered free cosmetic surgery to get…
  • I have my "going over" days, but I don't call them cheat days. My extra calories come from nutritious food, and I go over only when I feel my body needs the extra fuel. As for not-so-healthy treats, I have them pretty often, as long as they fit into my daily limit!
  • What Ziaki and NoAdditives said; however, MFP's default protein limit is too low, so feel free to up it. Just don't go crazy and eat like 300g every day. When I first started out, I reduced my fat intake to an extreme degree, and it gave me constipation even though I ate plenty of fiber and drank lots of water. Consuming…
  • It's definitely personal preference. Me, I'm too lazy to apply makeup, and even on the rare occasion where I wear some, I don't like to look too different; I just want to make my skin look clearer, and my lips less chapped/ more moist. But I'm very "whatever floats your boat" when it comes to other people choosing to wear…
  • BMI is not your body fat %, and it is not useful for estimating body fat %. Also... pick one scale and stick to it! When you're tracking weight loss, precision (telling you how much you LOST) is more important than accuracy (telling you how much you actually weigh). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accuracy_and_precision
  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_fat_percentage Several methods listed there... some of which require high tech equipments! Most people seem to either use a digital scale that measures body fat percentage (which I don't trust), or a caliper pinch (never used one myself, but heard good things about it).
  • My TOM got seriously messed up for about two months or so, some time after I started losing weight. I got it EVERY OTHER WEEK. No increase in blood loss though, because each period was shorter and lighter. Still very annoying! After 3-4 such cycles, it seems to have stabilized and gone back to normal for me. If yours is…
  • That's what it is, though. BMI charts do not correspond to your body fat %. It's just a numeric scale representing the ratio of your height to weight.
  • It's up to you. If your weight fluctuations drive you up the wall, then you should probably weigh yourself every week, or even every other week/ every month. On the other hand, if you're okay with minor fluctuations, and the scale motivates you instead of frustrating you, then checking your weight every day shouldn't be a…
  • Mine shrank in proportion to the rest of my body, so my cup size officially didn't go down (was 40C, became 36C... 40C cups are bigger than 36C cups). They look less saggy now, so I'm happy. My buttcheeks, on the other hand ....... Time to up my leg press.
  • Thanks to Irene, the streets I normally go for running have no power, and there's tree branches liberally sprinkled everywhere. Very dangerous combination. Couldn't go out for a run tonight >:( Food-wise, my house has enough to last a few days.
  • "Only eat when you're hungry" does not work for everyone because in some cases, lack of appetite indicates metabolism slowing down. I hate the term "starvation mode" because it makes the whole thing sound like a black and white deal with no grays in between, and I don't think that's how it works. However, you can't deny…
  • It's actually not easy to gain 5lbs of fat in 3 days. It's probably water weight! Also, are you weighing in at the same time of the day (preferably first thing in the morning after toilet), wearing the same thing? Weight can fluctuate a lot throughout the day.
  • Well, I'm no expert, I just know what's been working for my body. Have you tried going on maintenance mode for a week? Some people tried that when they hit a plateau, and have successfully broken out of it. Also, maybe you should consider taking a rest day every week to let your body recover? And just making sure... are…
