Anyone here who has young kids find this challenge getting harder? I was doing great in July and Aug. but since the beginning of Sept. I've been crappy. I can't seem to hold the same intensity I did then. I know one problem is that school is taking up more of my time and energy so I'm not working out as intense as I was…

10/14 correction - 15,022 steps, 624 cal., 4.81 miles I did some extra steps this evening when I had some time. I don't get the chance to get out and just walk like many of you mention so my idea is to just do laps around my house. I just walk my paths when I can and if possible try to do 10mins at a time at a good pace.…

10/14 – 12,587 steps, 513 cal., 4.03 miles

10/12 – 3310 steps, 131 cal. (still feeling sick) 10/13 – 12,053 steps, 506 cal., 3.86 miles

Thanks for all the tips. Once I got started it did seem easier than expected. I do a ton of laps around my house during the day in different lengths of time that I can fit in with the kids. This has been a great challenge for me.

I'm still here but I'm not losing. This week I've been super busy and not feeling well so I haven't been very good. Since school started for us I haven't been exercising like I was. I'm doing good on my 10,000 steps a day though so I think it's keeping me level and not gaining. I know I won't make my goal for Halloween but…

10/11 – 6,021 steps, 256 cal., 3 miles (wasn't feeling well most of the day so I got a late start)
-
10/9 – 2188 steps, 85 cal. 10/10 – 11,585 steps, 482 cal., 3.71 miles

you should definitely be getting 10,000 steps, I walk about 3.5 miles a day and get at least 10,000 and my stride is 20
-
10/8 - Crappy 3000ish cuz I was out with the family doing regular run-arounds. Who new that doing normal errands and shopping would get a ton less steps verses staying home so I can do laps around my house.

My 10,000 steps a day group is getting me back to where I was so I'm doing good but I haven't lost any new weight. Hope to see a new loss by Monday.

10/7 – 11,104 steps, 460 cal.

10/6 – 11,616 steps, 477 cal., 3.72 miles

10/5 – 10,395 steps, 406 cal., 3.32 miles

Does anyone know why your steps don't match your calorie burn every day? Like having X # of steps = X calories but the next day it's different. Can a pedometer count your speed or something?

bjshooter - You started at the same place I did so it's great that you are where you're at. It's harder to lose I think when you get that low. I can't wait til my ticker matches yours. :)

10/4 – 10,418 steps, 380 cal., 3.34 miles Anyone feeling it in there legs yet? I am.

Well Sept. was a bust for me. I did horrible about losing any weight but I managed not to get to out of hand with the gaining. But now it's Oct. and today I've gotten off to a good start. I'm also in the 10,000 steps a day group for Oct. just to motivate me to do better. So far it's working. Don't think I can make my goal…

9/30 - 13.371 (test run) 10/1 - 3576 steps 10/2 - I didn't do enough walking to count, I spent the day cleaning 10/3 - 10,766 steps, 412 cal., 3.45 miles (took a lot of creative walking at home but I did it with a combo of walking while folding clothes, laps around the house, and taking the long way to go do something or…

Yesterday I took my pedometer on a trial run when we went to Stone Mountain and I got just over 13,300 steps. Today (10/1) I got 3576 steps but I didn't quite count every single step and I had a sore knee from yesterday. I'm hoping I can get more if I'm really paying attention but I agree this is going to be a real…

I like this idea. Did you do this mainly on the weekends? My older 2 are homeschooled so it takes up a big chunk of our day during the week. But I'm sure they would love the idea too.

WOW, that's amazing! That's a huge achievement. Did you do anything special as far as with your diet or exercise or were you just really strict?

I have 3 kids, ages 2,4,6, and you'd think I'd walk a ton at home but not really. I tried using my old pedometer that's not great and only got 4200 steps during the majority of time I counted. I'm on my feet all day just not constantly walking and the walking space in my house is a bit small. This is going to be a major…

Yeah I know it still has to do with the scale but my NSV was more to point out my birthday. I've lost weight a couple of times before but it never lasted long and didn't stay gone by my birthday. Thanks everyone.

Today was my birthday and this is the lightest I've been for my birthday in over 10 years!

Are there any SAHMs here? I'm a little concerned that 10,000 steps will be difficult. I don't sit down much during the day but just walking around the house for things doesn't yeild many steps and I don't leave the house much. I plan to be more aware of my steps and hope that helps but I'm wondering if anyone else has this…

Amazon has some heart rate monitors at some really great prices and with tons of reviews so you get a better idea which ones are worth it. That's where I bought mine and it had 4-5 stars so I felt better about buying it.
-
I just ordered a heart rate monitor for this reason but for my calculations I use zumbacalories.com to figure out my calories burned. It includes intensity which I think is a bit more accurate. Hopefully my monitor will confirm what I'm burning. I'd say go by your monitor cuz it's probably the most accurate.

Just ordered a pedometer and heart rate monitor. I'm joining a 10,000 steps a day Oct. group to help boost my weight loss and I'm hoping to get a better idea of actually how many calories I'm burning during my workouts. Hopefully I'm not too far off with the calculator I've been using. I've been stalled for almost a month…
