My father died suddenly right around my 14th birthday. I believe that if there were such a thing as ghosts, he would have contacted me somehow....IMO

I feel bad...I usually try to offer advice with my snark. :-( My point is that bulking is gaining muscle. It takes A LOT of work to look like Arnold or Sylvester, so don't worry about beeing too muscular. The best plateau buster if just shaking up your diet. Try eating cleaner, get 5 servings of veggies in a day. Re…

I like numbers and knowing exactly what my heart is doing during a workout, so I love having a HRM on during every work out. The main thing you should know is that heart rate does not determine calories burned for strength training, so do not rely on a HRM for that.

I subtract my resting calories. However, I love numbers and end up making really complicated calculations just for fun. If you are losing weight at the pace you want while eating like you have been, there is no need to adjust. If you are losing slower than intended, than try for 75% of exercise calories.

I think the basic idea is that you just feel more full when eating in smaller windows and less deprived.

Why is 14 X 10 recommended for women? What is the difference?

Around 1500. I am 5'6" and currently weigh 177. I am aiming to lose .5-1 lb per week.

Half the fun is finding new healthy recipes that you can enjoy with family and friends. :-) I love showing off new recipes and then bragging how low the calories in it is. (I'm that person)

Hypothetically speaking, let’s say that you walk into my gym and head over to the free weight section. You start doing your thing and immediately I start judging you and laughing at you in my mind. What difference does it make to you? I am just some random *kitten* at the gym that you owe nothing to, so f-me. Another…

Just change your settings to lightly active (or up one level from what you are) you you spend a majority of the day doing more than usually.

From sparkpeople.com: A heart rate monitor (HRM) is capable of estimating calorie burn pretty accurately—but only for aerobic (cardio) exercise, not for strength training. Here's why: A HRM won't give you an accurate idea of how many calories you burn during strength training, because the relationship between heart rate…

I have the FT4. It works good. Amazon or Ebay might be cheaper, though I would hesitate to get a used one on Ebay.

In a similar post, I read that many doctors recommend children stay away from lifting heavy, as it could interfere with muscle development. As for HIIT, I am not sure. I would talk to your son's doctor. In the meantime, I think toned down (fake) HIIT would be fine, keeping his heart rate relatively low all the time. On is…

ig·no·rance [ ígnərənss ] 1.lack of knowledge: lack of knowledge or education 2.unawareness: unawareness of something, often of something important So, yes. You were ignorant of the fact that she was a vegetarian. I don't think her response was rude, nor do I consider all ignorance bad. You are not expected to know…

I think honey oat actually has more fiber....

Eat 2 to 3 servings of fruit every day, at least 5 servings of veggies and plenty of protein. If you are getting all that and staying below your calorie goals, you should be fine. I would still aim for a net of 1200, but that is to make sure your body gets all the nutrients it needs.

Your blood tests should tell her everything she needs to know.

HRMs overestimate calories burned for strength training. The strength training entry under cardio here is the best option. From sparkpeople.com: A heart rate monitor (HRM) is capable of estimating calorie burn pretty accurately—but only for aerobic (cardio) exercise, not for strength training. Here's why: A HRM won't give…

A quick google search turned up this website...you can look around and see if there are any better ones. http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/heart-rate-based-calorie-burn-calculator.aspx

What he said^^^^ This is also part of the reason that HRMs do not accurately measure calories burned during strength training.
