  • I think it's easier for guys to use their phones as a pedometer. I don't have pockets that can comfortably hold my phone in any of my pants...lol I like my fitbit. It's not super accurate, but it helps keep me accountable and aware of what I'm doing.
  • Personally, I usually get a better burn from a treadmill. But if you need something quieter, ellipticals get the job done.
  • As ClassickQC said, if you actually read the program, warm up sets are a big part of the work out.
  • This is a complicated question. If you are recovering, 1440 might be a good amount as your metabolism finds its groove again. I deff wouldn't suggest going lower than 1440 though...
  • I LOVE canned tuna...but the mercury is a problem. I keep to 5 cans or less a week.
  • Getting in an intense workout is good. A HRM still wont accurately measure the calories burned.
  • What mmapags said. However, 200 burned in 30 minutes doesn't seem too high. Probably just assume it's between 150 and 200. There is no way to be 100% sure what the number is anyway.
  • The last 50 will come off slower than the first 50. Especially towards the end, you should be aiming to lose .5 lbs per week.
  • My mother is type one diabetic. Her Dr told her not to worry about sugar as much as carbs (since sugar IS a carb and carbs raise your blood sugar). He told her to aim for 30 carbs per meal (Probably 100-120 per day). Not sure if this would apply to you as well.
  • Let's be honest...these boards would be super boring without constantly proving those groups wrong!
  • +2 I am in the process of setting up my home gym and this is what I went with.
  • The treadmill works out a the core and back muscles a lot more since they are needed to stabalize you, especially if you are running. When I wear my HRM, it is much eaiser for me to burn more efficiently on the treadmill, hands down. Once I got my Polar, I abandoned the elliptical all together.
  • It might just be me (or a girl thing), but nothing motivates me to do more squats than seeing how great my butt looks in the mirror :blushing:
  • As I said, the heat makes you feel like its more intense than it is. I'm not saying you're not burning anything, its just less than it feels.
  • Even if you don't eat meat, nuts, beans and whey protein are good ways to get protein in. Full disclosure, 1500 is super hard for me. I don't think I could ever to 1200
  • Someone who is only looking to lose 16 lbs should be aiming for .5lbs lost per week. Also, the lowest MFP will recommend is 1200. So even if you needed to eat 800 calories per day to lose 2lbs per week, MFP would still recommend 1200 calories since that is the lowest that is generally considered "healthy" (though this is…
  • It wouldn't cause you to gain. The problem with Bikram Yoga is that the heat is really more for your flexability, but it makes you feel like you are working harder. So you might feel like you just went for a jog, but in reality you didn't burn as many calories as you would running. It does burn calories though. The exact…
  • Just curious...Are there any websites you can reference that show how this fast is healthy? I feel like the others have given plenty of support to back up their claims that you will be hurting yourself, but all we have is your word. Even Fat Sick and Nearly Dead wasn't 200 days (or 2 sets of 100) and most juice fasts I…
  • I've gained about 10 back and am getting back into it. Just remember...you don't NEED to lose weight for your wedding. As long as you and him (or her...whatevs  ) both show up, the day should be perfect!

  • If you have been doing a variation of stronglifts for 4 weeks, by now the intensity should be so high that you NEED those breaks. Squats are basicallly a full body workout. Your core and back are both being utilized in addition to your lower body. There really are no lifts that could be done in rapid sucession with squats…
  • Towel, lifting gloves, kick *kitten* music, water If it's your first time doing weights, you might want to bring a print out showing proper form. Have fun!
  • While I agree that there are not necessarialy "bad" foods, I think the point of this thread is foods with suprising nutrition information. The 600 calories per slice pizza isn't bad, but it is unexpected. No one on this earth can convince me pizza is bad!
  • I have never had any but I see no problem with modest procedures. I saw a woman who had a facelift done you would never know except she look 10 years younger.I just don't like it when you look at someone and know they've had work done. I have had laser hair removal on my legs.I don't think that counts though.
  • The Fighter - Gym Class Heroes Bleed it Out - Linkin Park Shake it Out - Florence + the Machine How You Like Me Now - The Heavy Stronger - Kelly Clarkson I defy you to listen to any of the above and not feel like kicking *kitten* at the gym!
  • If you call the dr who prescribed your inhaler meds and tell them that you are almost out but have an appt, they will probably give you one refill.
  • Strength training burns less calories than cardio. No question. The afterburn effect is there, but it is rather small. You will get used to the fewer calories burned. As stated before, HRMs do not accurately measure calories burned during strength training. I just use MFP's estimate. However, strength training is amazingly…
  • Bumping because broscience (on both sides of this argument) makes be laugh
  • I am going to walk six miles in the morning and try to stay below 4,000
