Agree with things already written - have a regular dinner, perhaps lighter than usual, drink lots of water, and enjoy the time with your daughter! Don't let the concern over calories override the great time you had with her!

Our cottage trip is about the same distance. I try to pack a sandwich and a piece of fruit. WHen you arrive at the destination - there is always stuff to do, and a meal isn't immediate. Thus, a little mini meal for us on the ride. Have a good weekend!

My weigh in today was better than I had expected after a week of holidays. Have a good week everyone! Jul 1: 167.5 Jul 4: 167 Jul 11: 169.5 Jul 18: no idea - away on holidays Jul 25: 164.5 Jul 31:

I DID try this program. Immediately into it I knew they were starving your body, and filling it with "supplements". Not sure what the calorie count was, but it is very very low. I'm guessing the 850-900 range. It is stupidly expensive, and if anyone succeeds on it (which I doubt), I cannot imagine they keep the weight off…

Add some Quinoa to your diet - high in protein, it is an amazing superfood!

Just checking in to tell everyone good luck and keep up the running! I'm still on hiatus, due to the little hip issue. Walking lightly. But physio/massage are moving forward. I continue to surround myself with positive people who have never once told me that it seems "silly" someone overweight wants to run. Instead, I just…

Just checking in to report my progress, having visited the PT today. This morning I realized I actually had a bruise on my hip, although I had not fallen. Obvious sign that something is not quite right there! I'm thrilled to report that I was told I WILL be able to make the 5K in September, thank goodness! What I learned:…

Hi - note regarding the schools and do I have kids in them, the answer is no, not at this time - but I used to. They are in my neighborhood, that is all. (wait, I pay taxes, so yes I am definitely still tied to them, lol!) There are no high fences around them, no gates, etc. Just open fields. We have public high schools in…

Alright, I'm now officially headed in the wrong direction! Have to wonder if the weekends at the cottage are playing a role in this. Actually have been teetering between these two weights for awhile. Not discouraged, however, as I can only imagine what the scale would say if I were NOT exercising and watching what I eat…

I have to admit that I have had to stray just a little bit from the program - am still running, just changing it up a bit! My hip continues to give me problems, and so I have to watch that. Am trying to work on more stretches for the hip flexor, hoping it helps. Also up until now on my days off running, I am walking 5.5k.…

Attempted Week5Day3 tonight. This is the big jump - 20 minutes straight. I didn't quite make it, but am still thrilled with how I did. I ran 10 min, walked 2. ran 9. So not quite there, but holy cow, what an accomplishment from where I started! Keep it up everyone - we are all in this together, each little accomplishment…

My aha moment was a few months ago. I felt like my insides were going to split through my skin. Sort of like a water balloon filled with too much water! I had this feeling during the winter, and learned I had high blood pressure and had to start on meds. It still took me awhile to do anything about it. But I remembered…

I'm sorry you have the pain of gout - my husband does as well, and it can be so debilitating. I don't know about the weight loss part of it, but he has been drinking Black Cherry juice, and black cherry tea, as he learned that the compounds in them can help. Of course at this point you need real relief, but in the future,…

Just finished Week5Day2, a big change to move to 8 minutes straight. But I did it - and did a little Rocky dance after the second run :-) My plan to head in to the big 20 miinute straight is to walk tomorrow, take one day off, and then complete week 5. About being sore - I am a little sore, but not anything "painful", if…

Checking in on my normal weigh-in day. Jul 1: 167.5 Jul 4: 167 Jul 11: Jul 18: Jul 25 Jul 31: Happy Fourth of July to the Americans on MFP!

Barely made it through W5D1! But I made it! I did cut short the 5.5 k walk, tho, and called my daughter to pick me up. Have to admit the lightening scared me! Only missed .5 k, so not too worried about it. The next one is a big jump, 8 minutes straight jogging. I can't imagine that - know it will be tough! Good luck on…

Happy Canada Day everyone! SW: 167.5 My normal weigh in is on Mondays, so that will be my updates here as well.

Tonight I completed W4D1 successfully! The feeling of being able to run 5 minutes at a time was incredible :-) My 5k race is September 10th, and tonight I really felt as though it is possible. Good luck on your next run everyone! Jayme

A real basic smoothie is to use 3/4 cup frozen fruit, 3/4 cup milk (I like almond milk now) and a few drops of vanilla. From here start tossing things in - wheat grass powder, maca powder, protein powder, banana, avocado....not kidding! If you add any of these, I also like to add 1 tsp honey to help with the flavor a bit.…

I freeze bananas ALL the time! I literally just toss them in the freezer, in their skins - which I believe saves the insides from freezer burn. A neighbor once told me she only uses thawed bananas to make banana bread. I also now use one in my power smoothie in the morning. But be aware - they are really slimey when they…

Midnightsukle - I am pretty sure that I jog REALLy slow, lol! But it does feel like I propel along at a faster pace. I have a pathtracking app on my phone, I just need to figure out how to have it go at the same time as c25k, then i can get my speeds as they really are. Good luck on the walking to work - only good things…

My co-worker and I registered today for the race! September 10th, in Toronto, and it looks so cool. It is a nighttime race, and they give you headlamps to wear. It is through a park in the city. We are getting so much support at the office because our boss has actually ran several full marathons, and really enjoys coaching…

I am doing mine outside, even though I was embarrassed at first, I just love getting out in the fresh air. Jayme

Count me in! This will be great as I have company coming in July, a good motivator to keep things under control :-)

Are you familiar with the show Til Debt do us part? I LOVE her philosphy regarding finances! Here is a link to her blog, where you can get some real ideas: http://gailvazoxlade.com/blog/ Jayme

OK, I found you again! With several groups doing this, I am afraid I was all over the place, but this for sure is the right one, lol! Last night I completed Week 2, Day 1. The first jog portion was tough, but after that I breezed through each one! Jayme

First let me say how very sorry I am to hear about your miscarriage. I have not walked in your shoes, but I can only imagine the emotions that you are going through now. Is it the time to worry about weight loss right now? Honestly, I would say be kind to yourself. Plug in your ipod and go out for nice walks. Change the…

Hi and welcome! I have tried weight watchers over the years, with little success. This plan seems so much better. I have only had cravings a couple of times, but never actual hunger. Once you get used to it, it is actually so easy! I really like that it ties exercise so closely to your calorie needs. And I also believe…

I thought I wrote in earlier, don't know what happened! Anyway, I'd love to join this. Completed Week 2, day 1 tonight - felt awesome!!! The first jog seems like there is no way I can do it, and then after that, honestly, I amaze myself that it is fun and enjoyable - who would have thought?! I am planning to run my first…

Congrats! You started just before I did, and like you I know this is the start of learning to live a new lifestyle! Keep up the great work!
