  • Someone on MFP posted a link to this a while back and it helped me: http://fitnesswithnatalie.blogspot.com/2011/05/most-dreaded-word-in-weight-loss.html Good luck. You have to keep tweaking things until you figure out what works for me. I had to up my calories by about 150 a day and decrease my cardio to get the scale…
  • Good for you. I don't drink...just because I don't like the taste of alcohol...and people give me weird looks at first, but then they get used to it. I agree about the moderation...I eat about 90% clean also. I gave up fried chicken because it's a trigger for me. I also don't keep ice cream in the house. I find that french…
  • I was a walker. After I lost some weight I felt stronger and started wanted to jog..but I DID NOT have pleasant memories from jr. high. My boyfriend is a runner, so I asked him some questions. I wanted to get more bang for my time. Seemed like a nice idea to sometimes do a 30 minute jog instead of a 1 hr walk. I used the…
  • Cool! Thank you! I hardly ever log on my phone, so I never noticed. Good luck...and remember to update us when you figure it out!
  • Yep, mine moved around about a week or so. Only when I start jogging. It's mostly adjusted back now. BTW - my GP said it's common when people suddenly increase their activity to experience some changes.
  • Thanks for the clarifying...and I didn't even know about the bar code scanner! Umm...where IS the bar code scanner? :blushing:
  • Thanks. You'll get there. Everybody has a first day, first month, first year.
  • That's freaking fabulous! I'm looking forward to starting heavy lifting soon. Thanks for the inspiration....and great job on the weight loss - you look mahvelous.
  • Congrats on your loss so far! I found this link posted by someone at MFP a while back (I can't find it again to give proper credit!) and I found it really helpful. http://www.fitnesswithnatalie.blogspot.com/2011/05/most-dreaded-word-in-weight-loss.html For me...increasing my calories by 200 a day and reducing my cardio…
  • - Try starting with what MFP says you need to do - so just eat the 1820. Don't try to adapt it by trimming it more yet. - Make absolutely sure you are counting everything correctly. Are you counting the portion sizes correctly? 3 oz of meat in a portion, etc. Are you counting calories in your drinks? Logging everything?…
  • I'm sorry to hear about the job loss. I'm on a displaced list myself, so I've sold my home and have moved in with my folks until I find another job. After much reflection, I joined the local YMCA during the winter because I just couldn't do the exercising at home. Now that my home is sold I feel like I can keep the…
  • I'm 5'3 too and also resisted calorie counting for a long, long time (I have no idea why!) I found a link to this article very helpful: http://www.fitnesswithnatalie.blogspot.com/2011/05/most-dreaded-word-in-weight-loss.html I've come to think that everybody is different and you just have to keep tweaking things until you…
  • I've lost 65 so far and have another 15 to go...so I'm with illonavamp.
  • I'm wearing size 8 for the first time ever. Today.
  • I'd say paper and pen. Watch portion sizes more than anything. Use the exercise equipment available. Don't go too crazy, but don't stress too much either. Enjoy yourself, but use moderation. You'll probably gain some and work to get it off when you get back. Also - if you really want to track, they have calorie counting…
  • I work 10 hour days - start at 6:30 am- leave at 5. Some ideas on the workouts...try doing something that you enjoy. I'm not articulating that like I want...but if you can't stomach the thought of working out to a video or running, or something intense - try a walk instead. Walking is free, can be done anywhere, and helps…
  • Bumping to save for later.
  • Great job! Congratulations, I remember what a great feeling that is. Fabulous job. You look beautiful.
  • You need a new doctor. Or a specialist - maybe a nutritionist. I'm sure he thought he was being friendly, but he clearly isn't a good fit for you. It sounds like you have so many special circumstances that you really need someone who has been trained and is supportive to help you. I also want to encourage you to not give…
  • I'm 5'3, 36 yrs. old, 145 pounds. Size 10. I was about 150 when I took these measurements: Neck 13.75 on 05/08/12 Waist 37.0 on 05/08/12 Hips 39.0 on 05/08/12 Chest 41.0 on 05/08/12 Thighs 20.5 on 05/08/12 Forearms 12.0 on 05/08/12
  • HA! I'll letcha know when it happens.
  • I was scared too, but I'm only 5'3"..had been plateaued for SIX MONTHS. Finally tried it, and have dropped 7 pounds. I upped more gradually than some suggest. I eat a minimum of my BMR ..and eat 1340-1440. (which, incidentally, is what mfp suggests for me to lose .5 a week). Try it. You can always adjust again if you need…
  • ^^^ THIS. Sounds like you need to work on the mind aspect. Otherwise no "helpful suggestions" will work long term.
  • ^^^ This. Also, it's helped me catch a habit in the making before (i.e. Soup that I didn't realize had so much sodium, until I gained 2 pounds)
  • OK, have a nice day. [/quote] ^^^ Classy response.
  • I started as a 42DDD/E and am now a 38D. I have a great sports bra now that I got at a running specialty store (brand is Moving Comfort) . I lost the first 45 pounds or so from walking and aerobics though, so I was already smaller by the time I got the bra. I hated doing aerobics for a while, due to the girls, but I just…
  • I haven't had surgery, or pondered it ..BUT , when I started losing weight I was a 42DDD/E...then at 38DDD/E....then a 38C...now, I'm 15 pounds from goal and I'm a 36D (all measured by the pros). I used to not like exercising with them in the way either, but I went to a running store and got a really good bra...and it…
  • ^^^^ THIS . Great post! You know, a nice walk is great and refreshing...and much easier to think of doing than "exercise".
  • Luckily, I don't ever have episodes where I'm just "off the wagon" for a long period of time. I mostly have planned instances where I go a bit over (i.e. I have one day a week where I eat what I've been craving irregardless of calories, but in moderation...and generally only one meal). If I DO happen to make a poor food…
  • 5'3 SW = 210 CW = 145 GW = 130 ( i think I'll want to be at midpoint of BMI or so, we'll see...looking forward to being in the non-overweight column in 5 pounds)
