  • Hi! Feel free to add me. I was diagnosed with MASH fatty liver in FEB 2024. Got my follow up on Monday. Down 35 pounds. I can share some resources if you are interested. I know it can be super overwhelming and scary. I know I was terrified. I was F0-F1, S3.
  • I know that, in my work, I try to improve things as I can. I appreciate feedback so I know what folks need. My husband, who works in programming, also talks about that. It doesn't hurt to let them know what would be helpful. It's the only way they can improve. If they decide not to, for whatever reason, that's fine too!
  • It's also super important to track for my fatty liver disease. I imagine there are a host of conditions it would be helpful for.
  • Totally agree! I found this while making sure nobody else had already suggested it. :-)
  • I just added a similar suggestion to track all servings. I'm managing a medical condition and the number of servings I have is important.
  • I think a lot of us relate to this. I feel you. I'd lost 70 lbs back in 2011 and gained it all back. Fear is what motivated me this time. I just got a NASH diagnosis and my mom died from Cirrhosis from fatty liver. I've never been able to manufacture that feeling, however. It was also way harder to lose with that fatty…
  • Weight loss can be so weird. When I lost 70 pounds about 13 years ago, there was a period of time that I actually had to add about 100 calories a day to lose. If you have been super consistent, are tracking accurately, and are still at the same activity level, I'd encourage you to try some stuff out. Try upping or lowering…

  • Hello! I'd encourage you to see a doctor and maybe have a liver panel done. Low vitamin d and fatigue can mean fatty liver and the symptoms are super vague. I was recently diagnosed myself and wish i would have tested sooner. Good luck!
  • When you click the button at the bottom of your food diary that says "complete diary", you get a pop up message.
  • With that amount of weight gain, I'd check in with a doctor. There are medical conditions which could contribute to that gain as well. I would have them check your liver values also. I wish I'd done so earlier - I was recently diagnosed with NASH fatty liver.
  • Thanks! I swear I really didn't know what a huge difference it would make to just eat non-processed foods. I don't even really have to pay attention to calories much right now. Which is a novel experience. I'm sure that will come again. If there is one thing I've learned, it's that the process is not linear. I also used to…
  • Yep. I'm staring Week 4 today. I'm similar. I started running in 2011 or so, when I'd lost about 70 lbs. Did a marathon in Dec 2015 and took a "break" to get married and rest some knee bursitis. Gained all my weight back. Had some health issues. So, I'm now down almost 30 lbs and starting running again. It's so much easier…
  • I had my gallbladder out about 9 years ago. Just got diagnosed with fatty liver in Feb. I resisted the Mediterrean Diet for a long time because I wasn't fond of many fruits and veggies. I had lost 70 pounds back in 2010 and kept it off for 6 years. Starting gaining and really struggled to lose. What finally worked for me…
  • That's great! good job on the changes! I'm hoping to see better numbers on my return visit in August.
  • Also, it might be a good idea to have an appointment with a registered dietician. I found it super helpful years ago.
  • Hello! I was diagnosed on 2/1/24. I have found this guide to be very helpful: https://www.bcm.edu/sites/default/files/a-guide-to-what-and-how-to-eat-non-alcoholic-fatty-liver-disease.pdf Some recommendations I found helpful: - a Facebook group called, "Life with NASH: An American Liver Foundation Support Group" that is…
  • Good luck! I was diagnosed with NASH on 2/1/24. I'm not sure if you are aware of these, but I've found some great resources: -LiverHealthPod - podcast about Liver Health. Hosts are doctors from Austrailia -LifeWithNash - An American Liver Foundation Support Group - This is a facebook group and it's amazing. Full of success…
  • I feel you. I lost 70 pounds back in 2010 and have gained it all back. I was diagnosed with Fatty Liver and have completely changed my diet. I've been amazed to discover that I've been finally able to lose weight again. I'm doing a strict Mediterranean Diet due to my health condition. I honestly thought that it was as…
  • Hello! I'm late to the thread but thought you might find this helpful. I was diagnosed on 2/1/24 and I've found it very helpful. I asked my gastro to clarify on how much I need to "avoid" sweets and he said the same as red meat - a very small portion twice a week.…
  • I just got diagnosed myself. As others have said none in an ideal world. I found two resources really helpful: "LiverHealthPod" (podcast with liver doctors) and a Facebook Group: "Life with NASH: An American Liver Foundation Support Group". Both of those have a ton of amazing information and resources. Good luck to you.
  • I started a Mediterranean Diet last month for fatty liver. I switched to Net Carbs to help me better understand the quality of the carbs I'm eating. I'm prediabetic and hadn't bothered to track Net carbs instead of carbs before. I also started tracking Saturated Fat because that's super important for fatty liver. Sounds…
  • I was just diagnosed with NASH this week. I found this guide online and my gastroentrologist said it's a good guide. My primary care physician also agreed. I asked the gastro to pleae be specific about how often a treat like a 1/2 cup of ice cream or a small piece of chocolate would be ok and he said I should treat that…
  • I’m right there with you. I’d lost 70. Kept it off for 4 years. Did a marathon (gained 15). Mom died. Two surgeries. Got married. Now, I’ve gained 55 of it back. I consulted a dietitian. I feel like I know what to do, but am struggling. Exercise seems harder I never stopped going to the gym, but my intensity dropped a lot…
  • Losing too fast can be hard on your organs. I start weight watchers long ago with a coworker and she hit goal weight in 6 months...then she had to have her gallbladder out and I felt better for taking longer.
  • It took me three years before I really saw the negative affects of eating too little. No side effects doesn't necessarily mean you are getting optimum long term results. Also, great on you for seeking advice. I tend to forget that.
  • I'm a 5'3 female. Lost 70 pounds originally and have put 50 back on. Finally saw a dietitian last week and had my metabolism tested. She upped me from 1200 calories to 1600. I've been dropping weight without hunger since. I think a visit to a dietitian might be in order. I wish I would have gone sooner. If I'm a 5'3 female…
  • I started about 2 weeks ago - New Rules of Weightlifting for Women. It's an older version, as I bought the book a couple years ago and just started. I didn't increase my calories as much as he indicated the first couple weeks and my hunger was crazy. I also gained about 3 pounds. I did all my calculations and upped my…
  • I should say that I'm 5'3....so, yeah. 1200 at the end of weight loss was what I was given...I did all the calculations too...came out the same.
  • This was true for me also. I did not have to do more exercise to maintain. I kept my exercise the same. I was scared but it worked.
  • I found this article super helpful: http://fitnesswithnatalie.blogspot.com/2011/05/most-dreaded-word-in-weight-loss.html When I hit a plateau a few years ago (I gained a bit back recently, and am working at it again), I had to up my calories by about 50-100 per day to get the weight loss again.
