Just knocking things off my to-do list for the challenge. Today I invited two guys from work to walk with me. It turned more into a challenge of who could jog the fastest. I did not win. I also looked at the sleep disorder and weight link. Today was a strange day to look at it, because it is the end of daylight savings…

From Wisconsin Dells, but lots of family in the Milwaukee area.

I am already planning on having to exercise a lot more this week to balance out the extra food. Tuesday, I have a 5 course dinner and wine thing at a local resort. Wednesday is a pizza tasting date to plan a baby shower, and Thursday is a dinner and sales speech at a dinner club. Overall, it will be light lunches and…

Planks for 2 minutes and 20 seconds. The arms were rubber, the tummy started to sag, and my mood sank even lower, but I did it! Cardio for over 350 minutes this week; so I know I got in the miles. Read food labels, tried to de-stress through prayer, and did hip hop abs instead of crunches. Eating this week was over the…

Wow, just looking at the list, I can see that I am negligent in a number of areas.

Okay, I went into Walgreen's today, and they were playing CHRISTMAS CAROLS. I talked to the manager; his reply was that there were just testing the system. Thank goodness. I would have had to boycott the store. But the offshoot of this was that when I did my plank, I did it to the 12 days of Christmas. I got through all 12…

Here is a long distance KICK IN THE BUTT! Really what I think you need is permission to mess up once in a while. You just have to climb back up out of your hole and get with the program. When I have days like McDonald's (or even too much wine or Halloween treats), I just resolve to do better the next day and add some…

My son (age 25) has been wheelchair bound for three years. He does a lot of cardio. He does jumping jack arms, pelvic tilts, shoulder shrugs, waist twists and a series of other exercises. Just moving the wheelchair is cardio. Ask your physical therapist. If you want, I can ask him if there are web site or other resources…

I thought I throw on workout pants, a sports bra and K-Swiss tubes = Jillian Michaels. Somehow the irony of it pleases me.

I am 55 and down about 20 pounds. It looks like I have about a quart size bag of flap hanging down.
-
Okay, I have been at maintenance for about a month. My question is when is the baggy skin gone. I was doing leg raises today and when I looked down, my stomach was hanging lower than other parts of my female anatomy (you get the picture). Do the extra skin ever shrink?

I always joke that this 5-10 pounds is "my winter insulation". Living in Wisconsin where temps dip and stay below zero for many days, I think I need it. I am going to very actively try not to gain this winter. I will need the support of everyone out there. I have to break this cycle.

I am doing well. Thank you for asking. As a fellow shortie, I know we have to work hard to keep our bodies in balance; a little weight gain shows up quickly. I urge all of us to watch it over the Halloween weekend. Remember candy is for babies and those with good dentists. (Okay, I admit, I might just try a bit...Yum!)

Don't worry! At 55, I can tell you things start moving again. I am not down to my get married weight of 30 years ago, but I have been able to lose close to 20 pounds in the past year. Walking is my best friend, be it to work, on the treadmill or the elliptical. I do notice that I am not as strong as I was when I was…

Okay, Halloween at my house will see somewhere around 300+ trick-or-treaters. I have purchased 15 packages of Halloween pretzels packs to hand out. They are so cute: shapes of bats, pumpkins, and ghosts. As to reading labels, I found out Healthy Request soup is not near as healthy as I would like. The sodium is still too…

Here's my weekly challenge numbers (For Saturday - Thursday, I didn't wait for Friday as I will be busy today and tomorrow): Miles: 23.18 - daily average almost 4 mi Cardio minutes - 373 - daily average about 63 min Strength minutes - 70 - daily average about 11.5 min Sodium levels - 8859 - daily average 1477 mg Overall, I…

thanks again for setting this up. One thing I would like to add to the challenge is to invite someone else to walk with you. Miles are so much easier when they are shared. We all know someone who would benefit even from I short walk.

@healthymaria: I also retired this past June (This was actually the 2nd retirement for me) I retired from the medical profession in 2009 and from teaching in 2011. Now I work part/full-time at a Sports Complex. I am enjoying some of the freedoms that come with retirement, but still need the time management that working…

Good for you. I usually end up taking stuff like your cupcakes to work; so that I can get rid of them with no waste, but I can see how tempting they would be after a long trip. I am sure all the walking helped a lot. That is my main exercise.

Jenn, I read your blog. I love the insights one gets from reading what other people have to say. I will await a few more; so that I can become more insightful (and hopefully more aware of what it takes to be fit).

My vote for a name is for "Nutrition in November", or if we want to be negative "Naughty November"

I'm in. Any ideas for an awesome costume for a 55 year old lady who has to look, hot but covered up at work? I would like to go as a contemporary character (movie personality), but haven't been to the movies since ...

I know one of the challenges this week was to blog. If you would all provide the links to your blogs, I would love to read them and comment. I am interested in all of my teammates.

Yes, this month's book was Sarah's Key. Set in France; so French toast, French silk pie, French cream cheese cake, French cut green beans, French bread pizza, French wine, French crepes. You get the picture, which is why I have 900 quick calories for dinner. Oh, I for the French vanilla cappuccino.

I have a book club meeting tonight. That means I will have to be really selective about what I eat. The Theme is French food. I am bringing a French Cut green bean casserole. The Book - Sarah's Key (obviously set in France).

My youtube stretch is for neck stiffness. The link is listed. Watching this made me feel like a real idiot. I have always had neck pain when exercising and I try to stretch it afterward, but I never thought to use my hands to extend the stretch. I will continue to do these stretches to see if they make a difference.…

I tried to view your blog, but it said that I did not have permission.

One challenge done. I created a blog: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/mkaluzny/view/mfp-must-be-psychic-161530

I am in. I also have never blogged. My life is not all that interesting and I don't share readily. I will give it a go however. After all I can tell myself it is for the team. If I don't ask for support than how can someone give it. I am ready for this week. I have to be because last week was "MY WEEK OF OVERINDULGENCE". I…
