I'm with you on needing to get out fast in the mornings, so every night I make a green smoothie and toss it in the fridge for the morning. I make it at the same time as I make my lunch for the next day and I just log it in advance. So far it's been avocado and veggies with almond milk, but I think I'm going to save the…

Fiber is not counted as carbs. Why are you taking a fiber gummy thing? Have you tried green leafy vegetables? They have lots of fiber along with all sorts of other great things for you. Some examples of awesome ways to get fiber (and feel a lot fuller than fiber gummy things can make you): 160g celery - 5g fiber 1/2…

Have you noticed that the protein powder is nearly 50% of your total allowed protein for the day? When you're restricting protein to that low of a percentage on a deficit diet it's pretty tough to stay under if you drink almost half of your allowance at breakfast. If it were me, I'd double check my protein needs and adjust…

Well, I doubt I have anything helpful, but good luck! :-)

broccoli in a green smoothie... The chewiest smoothie I ever made and I even forgot to check carbs beforehand and didn't realize I was using almost 1/3 of my net carbs up with one breakfast drink.

Me too! I have 1 picture from around my highest weight, but I hated pictures so I don't have any others and I don't have any measurements. Feeling your clothes fit differently is a great non-scale victory! Sunday is my new official measure day, and if I can break my compulsion to weigh myself every morning I want to make…

The scale is a poor measuring stick. Best bet is to log what the scale says but only for reference over time and rely on body fat estimates, looking in the mirror, and measuring your various body parts to get a good idea of body changes. Sometimes I think that if we could just shift the thought process from losing weight…

Starbucks I tried in Japan today... 20 minutes of frantic conversations between managers and employees produced the result of not having any concept of what I was even asking for in terms of the subbing. Granted, my Japanese isn't that great, but it's also socially unexpected to order things different than on the menu. It…

Awesome!! I just ordered a food processor so hopefully it will show up in a reasonable amount of time and I can try these out. I had some bad luck with cauli in the past, but I'm prepared to try again! ;-)

You guys are awesome, you've given me so many good ideas in this thread!! Thanks! :-)

http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/ That will help you calculate your minimum. From Protein Intake While Dieting – Q&A (by Lyle McDonald): I'd read his whole website, it's full of good info even if you don't buy his books. EDIT: That's bare minimum, you'll probably want to go higher.

Sure thing! Keep in mind that the Mio water flavor enhancer stuff (the strawberry banana thing in the recipe) has the *same* sweetener as Splenda, so if you don't like Splenda you might not like the strawberry banana stuff. P.S. Celery does *not* work in this drink, it came out way too chunky strange.

Sucralose and Acesulfame potassium. Sucralose is the sweetening agent in Splenda, however since it has no granular binder in liquid form it (apparently) has no carbs.

I gave up on cauliflower crusts a couple years ago since I could never get it right and my home always smelled so awful whenever I tried, but your pizza looks so good that I'm going to give it a shot again! Thanks for sharing! :-)

This is the best, most concise advice link I have ever found about carb ups/carb loading and keto: http://i.imgur.com/H5HY685.jpg Sourced from: http://www.reddit.com/r/ketogains/wiki/index Some additional words from that FAQ:

Yep, Okinawa. Attached to the US Naval Hospital..

Ah, I probably just got it wrong. If you've got your macros set go with it! :-) Still seems low cal to me, but then you're the one eating them, not me.

Those measuring things are great! I wish I had seen that one before I ordered my scale. I'll either build a spreadsheet like yours or just put extra fields in MFP measurements to track glucose and ketones. I don't currently do supplements, but I could just add those as things to track in foods and create a custom food for…

http://www.ketogenic-diet-resource.com/low-carb-fruit.html For fruit taste, you don't need a ton to make a smoothie or something else fruity tasting. Try mixing a bit into your low carb cheesecake recipe or something. Also, sugar free Jello, while not devoid of carbs (sneaky packaging, when you see things like maltodextrin…

I think I'm sleeping less than I used to, though I'm often just tired at the end of the workday. Then again I work 10 hours a day and it's a pretty mentally demanding job with a lot of variance of workload from day to day, so I can't make a good judgement on the diet impact. I will say I think everything is just more…

Ah, ramen, the bane of my dietary existence!! I'm currently living in Japan and the foods which make it tough for me sometimes are ramen (especially with koteri broth and fried chicken strips with sesame to dip in the broth), udon (the udon with curry from this place near my apartment is amazing!), the patisseries (Just...…

Since June 2011. I started with Medifast, got rid of about 50lbs that way, then did Dukan until recently. Lbs drop really fast with both of those, but, at least for me, they're not wise choices. At the end of the day they have me hand over responsibility for my diet to someone else, and that doesn't let me do the work to…

Same! In fact, it would be great to have a thread showing some pertinent info over time from people who use the meter. I went ahead and ordered mine. If it's not too much trouble I'll copy-paste my macros for the day along with my results when I test... Hmm, guess I should start tracking my water intake.

Smart lady! For variety, just adapt. My dinner tonight was taco salad. I used some taco seasoning with 5oz of ground beef (81% lean, not the low fat stuff), a couple tablespoons of sour cream, 1/4 cup of cheese, and 100 grams of thinly sliced romaine lettuce. Basically just taco rice without the rice (if you've been to…

Have you checked to see what your BRM is? You probably ought to if you haven't because, unless you're very small, 1100 calories is extremely low. 4lbs per week is also an extremely high goal, many sources say it's not safe to go above 2lbs per week caloric deficit. I'm no expert, all I know is that in the past when I've…
-
Good luck! You'll make it! If it's tough then go over calories with some keto snacks but keep your macros.

Hi there, feel free to add me. Been doing various low carbs for about 2 years, I'm pretty sure I was in ketosis for much of it but only recently bumped my protein down to fit a more likely ketogenic macro distribution.

Hmm, I'll have to look into those flavored cream cheeses, I just assumed they would be high carb from the sugar. Keep in mind there's hidden carbs in fake sugar: I count one packet of Stevia as 1g of carbs because it's like .8 or .9.
