I don't see it as deprivation. I see it as choices. You do what is necessary to lose weight or you choose not to. More and more scientific information is coming to light on why we should eat so many carbs. They cause insulin to spike and we keep wantint to eat more. Weight loss is mroe than calories. If we aren't eating…

If the tea is sold in Mexico, it has to comply with their nutritional labeling requirements. I could care less about anything but protein, carbs, fiber, fat and calories.
-
Too simplistic. The veggies won't keep you feeling full for long because they breakdown quickly. Protein keeps you feeling full the longest, followed by fat and lastly carbs.

I have a Body Media I absolutely love. I also have a FitBit but it isn't as good as the Body Media.
-
They are NOT accurate. The number you get depends on how much you have drank that day. The only accurate BF reading is very expensive and has to be taken under water.

I have the Body Media and I love it. I also have a FitBit and it is not nearly as accurate.

Nothing better than a GMO tomato which is made with fish genes - yum! I buy organic for foods labeled organic cannot contain GMOs.

Try egg protein or soy protein shakes - no lactose in those. Both are available at Super Walmart where I live and GNC.

We can't use winter as an excuse to not exercise and not having a gym membership is no excuse either. There are so many free exercise videos available that not exercising is just being lazy.

I snack on protein for the most part. If I eat something sweet, even if low carb, it leads to cravings for more. If you are specifically craving a sweet after dinner, it's probably not hunger but a learned response we have. There really is no need to eat after dinner unless you stay up into the wee hours of the morning.

You should also be adding carbs according to the carb ladder, not just any old way.

Cheat days don't make sense. This has to be a permanent lifestyle change and you need to be OP to do that. You can go out and eat OP and not eat junk. It makes no sense to put in the effort to lose weight and then jepordize that by cheating. One cheat meal can lead to a hard time getting back OP and every time it is harder…

1500 too many calories. She really needs to do strength training to build muscle and to lose fat and not muscle. I'm 72, 5'3" and I only loose if I eat 1200 calories and to and hour of cardio daily and 45 minutes of strength training 3 times a week. I also do low carb because carbs cause water storage - 1 gram of carb…

If you think losing weight is just about calories, you're in for a big surprise. What you eat plays a big part in weight loss. Eating junk won't get you to your goal here or at WW.
-
How did you get to be overweight when you can't even eat 1200 calories?
-
I'm 72 and still have 20 pounds to lose. Let's keep each other on track. At my highest I weighed 356 (1977), reached 142 in 1978, and have pretty much maintained between that and 170. Too big a gap plus 142 is too much for my small 5'3" frame.

Most of the protein bars are little better than a candy bar. Eat real food.

Atkins no longer recommends keto strips. They are not that accurate so save your money, Follow the plan and the weight will come off. I take a vitamin and calcium with D daily.

Cardio will not tone your body or build muscle. You have to do lifting for that. If you really want to get rid of your belly, pick up the weights. You don't have to like it, just do it.
-
There is a ton of scientific evidence that low carb does help some medical conditions such as seizure disorders and diabetes. I do low carb but Taubes has to be taken with a grain of salt.
-
There are no magic pills for weight loss. Don't you think there would be announcements on tv and in the newpaper and long lines at stores to buy them if they worked. They will lighten your wallet.
-
Cut back on the cardio and up the strength training. Lifting heavy will add muscle and tone you and you won't be so anorexic in appearance. Be sure to eat at minimum of 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh.

Paleio allows more fruit, relies on lower fats, excludes all dairy. I do Atkins and I lost 9 pounds the first week - started at 170.
-
You need to get some realistic expectations. losing 2 pounds a week is not realistic. Aim for .5-1 pounds.

Yes I have read it. It is by the same NY Times writer that exposed pink slim (and he won the Pulitzer for that) and exposes how the food manufactures have hooked us on those foods. I have changed to a low carb diet and feel so much better and losing great. I highly recommend it for every one. If you know how food is made,…

You will die if you don't get adequate protein and fat, but the body can function very well and there is no requirement without carbs.
-
It's 2 servings. Food manufacturers often do things like this to make their food look lower in calories. For stuff from the $ Store, I'm sure the 470 calories is right.
-
I'll join in, too. We're having a challenge at the gym as well. We got weighed and put $10 in the pot by November 25. We have to weigh in again the first week in January. If we don't gain weight and workout 18 times, we get our $10 back. If we lose, we get a share of the pot from those who gained. There are also prizes for…

The serving size includes the liquid from the can. If it says 3.5 servings, you divide the 200 grams to get the weight of your portion.
