Absolutely, excellent point. It is so much easier to control hunger (not to mention a whole lot more healthy) on whole grains and quality protein than on highly processed stuff and sugar. I eat a lot of whole grain, unsweetened cereals, and not just for breakfast. It makes a huge difference. I like Kashi products, but…

Critical. Its what makes this whole thing work. Furthermore, people I have known who had trouble losing weight on here either weren't eating the recommended amount (sometimes over, frequently under), or were not being accurate/honest about what they were eating. I have experienced this myself. And once you decide to fudge…

Unfortunatley, I can't say why, but, yes, this happens to me as well. That's why its important to always weigh yourself at the same time and under the same conditions, on the same scale. While this weight may not be 100% "accurate", it becomes your reference, so you CAN accurately assess how much you have lost or gained.

Your diary shows that you are consistently around four hundred calories low. That's not so good to begin with. In fact, there was a day there you only had nine hundred. That just doesn't seem like enough. As far as calories in/calories out, I firmly believe that is correct. However, it is good to have some strength…

Hombre316, you misunderstand. The idea is moderation. Furthermore, eating stuff you enjoy and which is easy every now and then is a huge help for staying on track. Is that all you should eat? Certainly not. Can it be healthy in moderation? Yes, it absolutely can.

Try their fresco menu. The only drawback is the sodium. I had three of their fresco tacos yesterday for 450 calories and they were delicious. If you are able to be satisfied with two, that's only 300 calories.

I am former Army, but Navy physical fitness standards are similar...I just looked them up and you should be able to do at least 62 situps in two minutes, 24 pushups in two minutes, and a 1.5 mile run/walk in 13:30. Those are minimum standards to pass the test for an eighteen to nineteen year old female. I am not certain…

Its interesting to hear all the comments about alchoholics always being alchoholics...is that comparable to fat people will always be fat? Just sayin'...

Hello All, Still no workout today. I did finish loading my crap and drove for eight hours. Doesn't exactly qualify as strength training. Oh well. I checked in this morning and even though I have been eating garbage lately I still managed to lose 2 more pounds. If I can get rid of about eight more I will increase calories…

Hello. Sorry, I am in the middle of a move and haven't been able to get in here like normal. In fact, all my weights are in Ohio and I'm in Tennessee! BUT, I am very interested in a thread like this. Hopefully I will get back into a steady routine in a week or so. For now, my progress as of my last workout (about a week…

I guess it seems like I am harping on this, and I probably am. Anyway, look, to make out that HFCS isn't all that bad and certainly not worse than sugar is a diservice to the people on here trying to get healthy. If calories are all that count, we could eat all the twinkies we wished and simply stay within our calories and…

Ultimately, I guess what keeps me going is not wanting to let myself down. Every other aspect of my life has been totally screwed up by external factors out of my control. I say that honestly. If I allow my health to get away from me, there's really only one person to blame, isn't there? Besides which, being out of shape…

It only becomes failure if you let it get you so down you give up! EVERYONE slips up. Success here comes in the long run. Keep after it and you are a SUCCESS!

Actually, unless I am much mistaken, the recent comercials in defense of HFCS are what sparked the recent debates in MFP. I can't recall when I first heard about it, but its been a year or two. I guess honesty and openess are the issue. I don't think anyone debates whether HFCS is worse than sugar. The point is, people…

OK, let's see if this works (I've never added a picture). A during picture. I had my boy take a picture of me in my old PT uniform which I now fit in again without looking too completely fat.

I guess when you are brought up properly, its kind of a shock to realize how careless some people are. And the sad part is, if you told the person your story, how important every dollar is to your budget, they probably wouldn't even care. Sad. Good luck, I hope you are able to get it straightened out; times are tough right…

You can't go wrong with chicken and vegetables (unless you fry everything!). Tyson sells grilled chicken strips. You can eat them cold or zap then for a minute. Only 100 calories for half a bag. Put that into a healthy wrap with a handful of lettuce with a spritz or two of some type of light dressing. Quick and painless…

Holy schizophrenic radio! I’ve just been going through and listening to these. Some I’ve heard, some not. Quite the eclectic mix. It was quite good. I have to say, though, I was a little disappointed; I was listening through my headphones while the kids watched a movie and I noticed they were singing. I pulled out my…

I've never heard these (I lead such a sheltered life). More research...

If it's going to be a regular thing, you will need to make a commitment to maintaining your healthy lifestyle and stick to it. THIS IS NOT EASY ON THE ROAD. There are a million excuses to NOT exercise. You need to make sure you do anyway. I liked the Hilton Garden Inns; they usually had a decent little gym and are…

Dorfus Dippindunkin here. Sounds like a J.K. Rowling character.
