HEYO!

So I dont know if there is any retired navy or active coast guard people out there, but if there are or if you have family members in either of these services, HELP!
I need to get in GREAT shape for one of these two's basic trainings in the fall of 2010... (havent settled on which service to join the reserves of yet...)

SO what should I really focus on to get in great shape?? I know I REALLY need to start walking/jogging, any other suggestions?!?!?

I am former Army, but Navy physical fitness standards are similar...I just looked them up and you should be able to do at least 62 situps in two minutes, 24 pushups in two minutes, and a 1.5 mile run/walk in 13:30. Those are minimum standards to pass the test for an eighteen to nineteen year old female. I am not certain how the Navy does it, but the Army only required soldiers to meet those minimums by the end of basic, however, its best if you can already meet those standards or better them going in. Also, there are maximum weight standards based on sex and height. If exceeded, the soldier/sailor will be "taped" and body fat cannot exceed 22% for males and 33% for females. I realize it doesn't sound very glamorous, but the best way to train for pushups, situps, and running is by doing pushups, situps and running. The upside, no fancy equipment required. Concentrate on good form, especially on the pushups. You are better off doing ten correct pushups than twenty incorrect. Good luck!
