I have a friend doing the low carb thing. no more then 20 net carbs a day for the first part, in the past her weight has flown off.

If you eating your bmr you are going to maintain your weight (this is with no exercise at all). If you are not exercising, you are going to need to eat less to loose. You HAD to have entered something wrong??? I eat 1350 a day with no exercise, you should NOT be eating less then me.

It's ok in moderation. I would die if I had to cut out EVERYTHING I enjoyed. Just make sure you are eating more good then bad and are consistent with your working out and you will be ok. I have the same problem!! I LOVE bread! I eat Nature's Own whole wheat. 100 cals and 20carbs for two slices. Try using whole wheat tortillas when possible!

Well if you cut it out, overtime you will crave it less. I switched from regular soda to diets. I say drink it if you want as long as you are getting all the water you are supposed to.

Actually, Atkins is decent. A friend is on Atkins and her weight is dropping off. She eats virtually no carbs and has a lot of veggies and meat, and it's working for her!! But to be clear, she eats nowhere near 5k cals. More like 1500-1800.

Lack of self control. People just shoveling whatever in their mouths. People CHOOSING to make bad food choices. We are not made to eat for pleasure, we are made to eat to survive. Not saying you can't enjoy a snack here in there, you just need to be smart about it.

Start slow. Build up your strength and stamina. Any kind of cardio would be great!! Anything that you gets up moving and your heart beat raised. Dancing I found has been the best!! It's fun and not something as repetitive and boring as, say, walking on a treadmill.
