  • Hi, I'm a longtime lurker. I don't eat sweet oatmeal anymore, only savory. Just use veg/chicken/beef stock instead of water and then top with whatever you want. I'm partial to roasted chipotle salsa and goat cheese.
  • I used to broil it with lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper. Use more spices if you're not tasting enough. You can never have enough garlic (intolerances aside).
  • Yeah, your breakfast is fairly carb-heavy (particularly if you leave out the eggs), so you aren't going to stay full for as long. Scrambled eggs with veggies and some fruit on the side makes a nice breakfast. You could also try some non-dairy yogurts - I've seen coconut milk yogurt at Whole Foods that looks pretty good.…
  • The diet issues coincided with the time she came off hormonal BC? Seems like a large factor to me.
  • My favorite ice cream alternative is frozen banana. If you put it in a food processor, it comes out just like ice cream! Not sure if you're trying to make something for yourself, though, or plan for a party.
  • I LOVE my Trek 7.3FX. It is a hybrid, so it is light enough for consistent road use, but also has treads for bumpier terrain. http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/town/fitness/fx/7_4_fx_wsd/#
  • Yeah, I think the only really bad part about cheese is the sodium. I really like those little mini baybel pieces that come packed in wax.
  • I second the paleo diet recommendation. It basically removes everything that you are allergic to.
  • Leaving the meat in your diet is actually a good idea, or at least replacing it with a high-protein substitute if you want to go the vegetarian route. High protein + high veggies + reasonable amount of fruit generally makes me feel pretty good.
  • Thanks, everyone, for the adds! It really makes a difference to see people who are at or around my goal weight (or who are working on getting there as well).
  • Hello! Being vegetarian doesn't mean you have to eat a ton of carbs. Beans provide a ton of protein (along with fiber) and are very inexpensive. Also, look into buying/making seitan. You could also eat veggie meat for protein, but I know some people don't like that.
  • I get dishydrotic eczema (caused by water exposure and mostly limited to the hands), and I have a prescription cream that makes it disappear immediately. It's the only thing that's ever worked. It's called Vanos. I get regular eczema around my eyes every now and then and use shea butter to clear it up.
