I am having a little challenge with this currently. After 17-18 hours fasting, I feel just fine right up until the moment my mind knows I can eat... then I go crazy! It's not bad stuff... mostly steamed broccoli and cauliflower with salted butter and vinegar, a normal portion of sausage (the big kind) OR steamed shrimp,…

By the way, I just realized that my comment about how much weight I needed to lose and "seeking perfection" could have come across and insensitive or as bragging, but I didn't mean it that way at all! It was just to give context that I lost 4 lbs with not much weight left to lose... and then making fun of myself a little.…

Yes, whole milk will break your fast, but worse yet, it will spike your insulin, which is the main contributor to weight gain. You need to use heavy cream (or half and half I think works, too), because the fat helps to reduce the insulin response. This is why I love bulletproof coffee: one tbsp of coconut oil (the good…

Hey Everyone! Looking to add some more friends who are open to encouraging each other in good times and in the challenging ones. I'd like to be able to see some more diaries, as I'm always interested in finding new ways to eat to stay satisfied. Cheers!

Why don't we just re-name this thread: Rate the Person Above You!!! Are They a 9 or Are They a 10???

Come on people! Everyone's a 9 or 10?? What's the point? I know that sounds really mean, but it's true.

Amazingly helpful and insightful, thank you!! I had found a few articles that reinforced what you said (but not as in-depth), but it took me a few to actually get it, lol. Thanks for informing me about EPOC! xoxo

Hmm... well, I've recently been reading some studies and one showed that a 150-lb person working out for 30 mins at a consistent 65% intensity burned 82 cals/41 from fat. When they did the same at a consistent 85% intensity, they burned 157 cals/10 from fat (yes, less!). But when they went from 65% to 95% and back to 65%,…

No love. :grumble:

Personally, I would use the BF% read from your Biggest Loser scale and use the age of 35 (rounding up is better than down).

SO glad I stumbled upon this topic... amazingly helpful! Thank you!

Oh, awesome! I actually went with Well Fed and also The Primal Blueprint Quick and Easy Recipes. I'll have to check out the Paleo App- hopefully they have it for Droids.

Thanks for the response. I guess my point was that if I burn 600 calories doing cardio, that's 600 more calories I *could* eat back if I so wished. Doing BodyRock doesn't give me nearly that amount, but yet, it might be better for my body in the end. I just want to be able to eat a little more, lol!

Ahhh! After looking into the whole carb thing again I think I was way off on my calculations... I usually eat around 150-200 grams a day! Oops! As for the bagel thing... I like the light multi-grain english muffins. They have 100 calories, 5 grams of protein, and 8 grams of fiber. I love them with the Laughing Cow cheese…

I'm a huge PB addict too! For now, I can't even have it in the house because I usually end up eating it by the spoonfuls. I don't think it would hurt to try the TJ's substitute... you might even end up liking it!

I just took a peek at the past week and aside from looking pretty good, there were three things that stood out to me (mind you, I'm no expert  ). First, you might want to try to breaking up your meals into 5 per day rather than 4. Maybe have Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner all be around 350-400 calories and then have…

That BMR seems awfully low, but then again, I'm new to this concept. I just started doing this research for myself and calculated my BMR to be 1530 and my TDEE to be 1828. My MFP daily goal has been at 1200 for roughly the past week (I started back up with MFP on May 1) and I have been netting around there pretty…
