Could someone have a look over my diary?

I've been on this lifestyle change for about a month now and i'm feeling great! I'm just looking at ways to improve my diet where I can and would appreciate other peoples perspectives and opinions :) I often feel like I'm eating the same thing all the time,so some other ideas would be helpful.

I'm maintaining my weight well on these calories (i am not exercising at the moment due to an operation) but I am walking when I can and keeping as busy as possible.

Thank you! :)

I just took a peek at the past week and aside from looking pretty good, there were three things that stood out to me (mind you, I'm no expert  ). First, you might want to try to breaking up your meals into 5 per day rather than 4. Maybe have Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner all be around 350-400 calories and then have two Snacks around 150-200 calories. Second, it seemed to me that your carbohydrate allowance was pretty high... it's quadruple my daily allowance. But then again, I know that everyone is different. And thirdly, I personally cringe whenever I see bagels on the list because to me, there are almost entirely an "empty-calorie" option. That is, they don't have much nutritional value but they pack in a lot of calories and carbs.

Do you know what your BMR and TDEE are?

Hope some of these humble observations may help some!
  • Thanks for all of your input :) my TDEE is 1648 and my BMR is 1379 roughly, although normally my TDEE is higher as I would be exercising everyday.I try not to eat too many bagels, have you found any good alternatives to them? Sometimes nothing else will do but i try to get wholewheat/seeded ones :) I think I'll try changing my meals around and see how that works out.Not sure why my carb allowance is so high but I haven't had any problems so far :)

    Thanks alot ! :)

Ahhh! After looking into the whole carb thing again I think I was way off on my calculations... I usually eat around 150-200 grams a day! Oops! As for the bagel thing... I like the light multi-grain english muffins. They have 100 calories, 5 grams of protein, and 8 grams of fiber. I love them with the Laughing Cow cheese wedges... only 35 cals per wedge and a good replacement for cream cheese!

Food choices look reasonably good. You would probably benefit from adjusting your carbs down and your protein up. Looks like you are set up to MFP defaults and they tend to be low on protein and high on carbs.
  • Thanks everyone!

I did wonder why that was,I keep going over on MFP protein allowance so I'll have to adjust that.I didn't even know that you could do that, how do you change them?

    Thank you :)

Go to goal/change goals/ custom and you can set them to whatever you want.
