If you filled din your weight, age, activity level, and weight loss per week goal, MFP automatically set a caloric goal for you. Just click the FOOD tab and search for the foods you eat each day. If you have the app on a Smarphone, you can scan the bar codes. That's it. Then click on the Exercise tab and add in the workout…

I put the treadmill outside.

You hand your man a list of what you will and won't eat. May as well give him portion sizes too. If he can't just do it without understanding, it's sad. When my wife say she doesn't like eggplant, I don't cook it. Rocket Science 101.

For me, my 5K got better when I trained for a 10K. My 10K got better when I trained for a 1/2 marathon. Nothing got better since I started training for a full marathon. I will say that running form and learning to breath helped. I went from 32:00 5K to a 22:00 5K. My 10K went from 1:06 to 46:00 minutes. I added in hills…

If your only goal is weight loss, just starve yourself. If you want to get healthy and fit, spend 30 minutes 3 ties a week in the gym, running, biking, swimming, or at least walking. Count your calories, dump the junk food, and learn about food that is good for you and you'll win.

Whether you have an iPhone or an Android, the MFP app works pretty well. You'll like the bar code reader for logging too. You can read the blogs and forums with your web browser, not with the app. I have tried a lot of run apps and I have an expensive Garmin. That said, the free Endomondo app with a $65 Wahoo heart rate…

So what exactly are you doing different then you were three months ago? In my view you are just eating too much. I am 55, 199, 6' 1" and for the last year I have been at 1350 calories. A year! I run 35-50 miles a week and eat back some of my exercise calories. It's slow going, but everything is in the normal range.

You need to make a life change, and forget dieting. Everything that you eat that helped you gain it back needs to be looked at very carefully. "The I can have whatever I want in moderation", isn't always helpful.

Bad. Soup, bread, cheese, diet meals, canned foods, processed vegetarian burger etc.. Good fresh fruit and veggies.

I eat balanced diet, so my baseline is none. That said, I do take some vitamin D because I work indoors and my blood tests showed that it was low. I also took CoQ10 because it actually lowered my blood pressure a little bit. Unfortunately not enough to get off the BP meds and I discontinued it. I take fish oil because that…

I used to have medicated depressions. I started running. I had injuries, surgeries and other obstacles. I kept running. Life is not a lot of fun right now because of unemployment and health issues. I run 40 miles a week, and feel better than I ever have in terms of depression.

On hot days with long runs. But I use some high-calorie foods like nuts and added extra virgin olive oil to get caught up. Those calories add up fast. I also find that I am hungry on my rest day - I can easily eat twice my calories if I don't watch it.

I have been doing the same. Thank you for running for others!

It is a good estimate of your activity level and it syncs wit MFP.

Rock it! I am with you. Just build up slowly and take care of yourself. Excellent!!! I was in ICU for a week with congestive heart failure in April '11. My first marathon is coming up on October 27th.
