  • Hey there! I actually graduated from college last year, but close to your age! I successfully lost 20 pounds a couple years ago, gained some back, lost some again, now I am trying to maintain! Feel free to add me :)
  • I don't think eating after a certain time helps/hurts weight loss, but most articles on the subject suggest eating before 7:00pm because of digestive problems. Because your metabolism is slowing down you can get heartburn, indigestion, so on and so forth. For me personally, if I eat anything more than cereal or some…
  • You can totally do this :) It may take some time, just because big changes can't happen overnight, but if you are consistent you will see results. And have you used MFP before? It's awesome!! Also, start making small changes, they add up in the long run. like cutting out soda and drinking only water. But you should…
  • Hey there! Hopefully I am not repeated what others have said too much but here is my take on it: part of it could be you need a food scale to use at home. I am looking into buying one myself, because I know it is more accurate than measuring. Also, since it would be silly to take that to a restaurant, you can always have a…
  • You don't tone fat by lighting weights, you tone your muscle, so no worries there! :) you should keep up your cardio though, because you could be building your muscle but not burning off the fat. Then you just have a layer of fat over the muscle. but even then you wouldn't look "big boned". I think you are confusing that…
  • Wow you were already beautiful and now you just look fantastic and gorgeous!! Congrats! Have you been maintaining for very long? Is it difficult? Because that has always been a problem for me...I lose but then gain it back later
  • 1. thin crust cheese pizza 2. crunchy peanut butter 3. baked mac n cheese 4. bacon 5. hashbrowns I love foods that are really bad for you, haha but I do indulge by eating them once in a while! :) or I make them at home, so I control the portions, calories, and fat.
  • I know what you are going through! I just graduated from college, I gained the freshman 15, lost it, and then once I graduated gained some back lol. It was very easy for me to drop in college though. When I was in our café I mostly ate lowfat yogurt and granola (for breakfast and dessert sometimes), making my own grilled…
  • I am still in either junior sizes or jeans that go by numbers like men's, not typical 6, 8, 10's. Whatever that sizing is called, haha. In juniors my highest size was a 9, right now I am a 5/7. I like where I am :) much happier than when I was in 3's and 0's, during college. I was way too old to be wearing jeans that tiny!…
  • First of all, congrats on maintaining through Christmas and New Years!! that's fantastic :) I have been in similar situations, because my sister's birthday is around Christmas so we have a lot of celebrating with food too. If I know where my family is going out to eat beforehand, I will always look at their nutrition info…
  • Oh I think most of us have gained a few pounds over the holidays. Although I do agree you have probably mostly gained some "water weight". I would just log my calories for the next week then weigh again. You will probably see it come right off! In my experience, when I have gained 5 or more pounds within a week, it's…
  • I have graduated this year, but I know exactly how you feel! Finals could bring on some stress eating, and having pals to motivate you really helps :) I'll send you a friend request!
  • I am taller than you (5'7") but I also have a smaller amount of weight to lose. I began wanting to lose 20 pounds, I have lost 11 so far :) I will add you! We could share some tips, I could use the help I have almost gotten stuck at this 11 pound loss
  • One of my favorite foods is fried cheese sticks, so I found a neat substitute online. I took Sargento's 2% milk cheese sticks (only 2.5 grams of fat in one I believe), wrapped it in an egg roll wrapper, and grilled it on the stove top. It was delicious and crispy, and only about 200 calories for two of them, with marinana…
  • thanks for the advice from both of you :) @Lizzy, lately exercise routine is non existant because of school. I used to go running but it's senior year of college and I have been so overwhelmed I haven't had any time. I am commuter, so it makes it hard to wake up and run then shower and get to school on time since I don't…
  • It is a huge hassle trying to eat out sometimes! I actually eat out at least once every single day (I am a commuting college student; my university's meal plan is actually way worse than any restaraunt near me!) so I understand how you feel. Especially with bothering others--every time I go out with my boyfriend or grocery…
  • I'm not sure how strict you are on certain foods, but I personally love the nutri-grain blueberry eggo waffles! you can just pop them in the toaster and have a quick breakfast :) i usually have lite or sugar free syrup with them. they are SO yummy with the fruit and low in fat :) I also love eating yoplait light yogurt…
  • why would your family be opposed to the grocery buying idea exactly? if they are worried you can't manage it time wise, just point out that you will also be more likely to study harder if you eat in your dorm room, not the cafe with a ton of friends. And realistically, cooking one meal for one person will take maybe 15…
  • i strongly believe that you should stay as far away from dining hall food as possible!! I know it makes you cry. Some days I am forced to eat in my school dining hall, and i feel terrible afterwards. It had always given me an upset tummy, and it is SO hard to find something nutrtious that will actually fill you up. If you…
  • if you are pressed for time and have to go drive thru taco belll (and we all do sometimes!) this is actually a great choice. These made the "eat this, not that!" book, 2012 edition. They were on the "eat this" side btw, lol. The sodium may be a little high, but fat and calorie wise, these are your best choices from taco…
  • thank you so much :) oh yes, im trying to keep up my healthy lifestyle, even though once in a while i have a bad day lol
  • Hello there! I only had a few pounds like you when I joined MFP. This site is fantastic! I would love to be a mfp buddy with you, lol. I am maintaining, so I still need the motivation too ;p I'll send you a request!
  • i really don't drink anything caffeinated ever lol. i used to drink tea all the time, but now i only drink water. sometimes during the week i may have unsweetened tea but that's rare. and i don't drink coffee at all, it gives me bad headaches and i am already so hyper, it speeds up my heart too much lol
  • thanks for the suggestions so far, but I have tried eating prunes and prune juice and neither helps me for some reason :( im thinking maybe i have had too much fiber and not enough water.
  • yeah i used the my recipes tool on here and calculated that exactly lol. you are right, i was making it way too complicated! thanks for help with the math! :)
  • thanks so much everyone! this is going to come be very handy for me, considering im cooking at home ALL WEEK lol :) had no idea MFP had that on here! Thanks tons!
  • hi there! I am a couple years older than you, but would love to help! Feel free to add me if you would like :)
  • I am in the same boat as you! I have reached my goals and I'm looking for maintaining friends too :) I'll send you a friend request! would love to add you :)
  • i think we all go through the all of nothing phase sometimes. I am that way with a bag of doritos! seirously, i won't buy them because i know i can't just eat one! lol but having encourgaing friends helps so much! I'm sending you a friend request now, would love to help encourage and motivate! :)
  • you are welcome :) Oh yes, drinking only water at first was hard for me, but it helps so much! It helps keep my digestive system regular. I have had problems with that since I was a child, and eating more fiber and taking medicine never helped. Since I started drinking water on my own, it has fixed that problem completely!…
