struggling to maintain my weight

Hi there, thanks in advance for reading this! I have been using MFP for almost 2 years now. When I first joined I didn't have a huge amount to lose; I lost 20 pounds, going from 134 to 114. That was technically 4 pounds underweight for me (I'm 5'7") so last year I went back to 116, somedays 118. But lately I have struggled to maintain that. I keep going up to around 121, and I'm finding it very hard to get back into a weight loss routine. I feel fat at this weight, even though I know I'm not. A couple pounds more than I want to be, sure, but for some reason I keep feeling huge. I just want to be able to maintain my weight but it's so hard! I don't really need advice because I know how to lose the weight, I just can't get inspired again. Anyone have some inspiration/motivation? It can be hard for someone like me to get motivated considering it's only about 3 pounds I need to lose.

What is your exercise routine? You may feel huge if you don't feel strong and toned. It may not be the number on the scale.
  • If you're not already, try lifting heavy. Instead of losing those last three pounds, why not focus on shaping your body instead? Also, see: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/912920-in-place-of-a-road-map-3-2013?hl=in+place+of+a+road+map

I plugged in your numbers on the fat2fitradio.com calculator, and for sedentary activity alone, you can eat 1,651 calories. I looked at your last diary post, and you logged only about 1,240 something. Make sure you're eating enough! I would honestly lift heavy, eat at maintenance based on your activity level, and give yourself a couple months to see positive changes in your physique  .

You have such little weight to lose - don't do it through a steep caloric deficit.
  • thanks for the advice from both of you :)@Lizzy, lately exercise routine is non existant because of school. I used to go running but it's senior year of college and I have been so overwhelmed I haven't had any time. I am commuter, so it makes it hard to wake up and run then shower and get to school on time since I don't live there. But from what both of you have said, I think getting back into exercising is the answer. I have gained cause I can't run anymore so no I don' feel toned at all :(

Are either of you in college? I think you are scrumisfun, how do you find time to exercise?
  • I'm in college. My exercise is rugby practice three times a week for two hours, lol. Plus I'm still going to lift if I can find time.
