  • When I was training for my half I'd eat a granola bar about 30 min before or I'd be starving by the end (not really starving but hungry enough for it to be distracting). When I did long runs I'd take a snack with me, I liked roasted nuts the salt on them would keep me from getting nauseous plus a little ziplock bag is…
  • Favorite one I have seen is Strokin' by Clarence Carter on a cruise by a guy who was trying to use it to seduce his considerably less intoxicated wife
  • IMO I probably wouldn't count it since you are already going to the gym. It also depends on what activity level you set yourself at. If you listed yourself as sedentary then I'd be more likely to count the break walks. But if you listed yourself as one of the other categories then you are already getting credit calorie…
  • My work does the same thing (Virgin healthmiles) I don't count it since most of it should be in your daily allowance. However if you want to use it for a specific run/walk to help you do the distance that would not be part of your normal activities. Here's how I do it normal step average ~7000 steps say I run 3 miles that…
  • Big guy singing I wanna by the spice girls and getting into it (I have seen a guy do Just Dance to that song, equally funny!)
  • I donate blood alot, and I typically have borderline iron levels (most women do). The night before eat red meat (I treat myself to a steak) or dark greens (raw spinach also works). The day of EAT BREAKFAST! Avoid caffine and drink water. Afterwards drink lots of juice and water. I try to eat lunch before and another snack…
  • I totally understand before my first marathon, and both half marathons... I get nervous and emotional and tend to cry like a baby! It's totally normal and you will do just fine during your race! Some nervousness/excitement is good! Enjoy your race and have fun! (Even if that means being emotional the whole day) I don't…
  • don't use apple cider vinegar...trust me!
  • I'm glad to know I'm not the only one... I tried to ask this question yesterday and all I was told was to try about a billion Jillian DVDs... I have tried one, she annoyed me, so that advice was well intentioned but not helpful. I think I'm going with the power90! Thanks everyone
  • Thank you! One more question, what size weights does it recommend? I have little 1 lb weights that I wouldn't mind carrying but any bigger than that... I'll have a laptop to watch the DVDs on and am staying in a fairly big room so as long as I can get the stuff there I shouldn't have a problem
  • I may be odd but my absolute favorite running song is Mars by Holst (classical genre)... When I get to the trumpet chase part I really start going fast! (you said you like all kinds music...)
  • What you should do is consider the water free. So for example if you drink a glass of juice which is half water half juice enter it as a half glass of juice, (versus a whole glass even though your glass is full) So enter it based on the amount of juice you put in the glass before the water was added.
  • I do when I run 3 miles, but the website I use say 7k steps is the recommended amount. If I don't run, I'm nowhere near 7k. I do other activites on the days I don't run to make up for my lack of moving. Also if you feel like you are really taking 10k steps make sure your pedometer is really counting everything. To make…
  • Go to your nearest feed (or saddle) store and get something called hoof hardener (way cheaper than the person version) it's designed to keep horses's hooves from cracking. If you get it at the feed store you get more than you could use for about $5, vs at a nail salon where a nail polish size will cost about $10. Not sure…
  • I'm doing the half! I'm pretty excited! good luck! happy to know someone else is doing it besides me on here
  • thanks so far! I have 1 more question. I run mostly on a treadmill (safety and heat reasons) does it still work on that or is it a GPS type thing that requires that you be moving?

  • no I didn't win but that was the first time I'd heard of it. I was thinking about getting it myself
  • no problem I have to remember every month to not panic, it's ok, just breathe. I usually check the scale a few times during those two weeks just to kinda be aware of what's going on. But I don't freak out or do it for the record. Good luck!
  • for bread nutrition http://subway.com/applications/NutritionInfo/nutritionlist.aspx?id=breadtop subtract the values from the whole sandwich (if that's what you want) or http://subway.com/applications/NutritionInfo/nutritionlist.aspx?id=salad for the salad version of some of the sandwiches hope this helps
  • I have an electronic one that you hold in your hands. In the instruction manual for it several times it says to do at the same time every day 2 hours (or more) after eating or drinking. It also suggests using the bathroom right before hand. I assume your scale uses the same type of electrical resistance to get you body fat…
  • Subway.com has all the nutrition data you could need
  • I know during my TOM I'll fluctuate by 5-8 lbs and unfortunately for me it sticks for a week and a half but then it disappears faster than it showed up so I basically don't weigh in those two weeks and start again after the lbs go away. just stick it out and keep working out and eating right and try to not freak out.…
  • I count them, mostly because the water here tastes pretty bad. I also drink them as 1 package/1 L of water. I have a water bottle that I carry around and keep the crystal lights in my desk drawer. I still add the packets to my diary as they do have a few calories.
  • Spaghetti! Vidalias are the only kind I buy if they are available. They are also good in scrambled eggs or omlettes.
  • Go Gators! I miss the Krishna lunches! Anytime I visit Gainesville seeing the Krishna people makes me smile. I have no clue about nutritional info for them but man was it good. Mmmm Wednesdays in the Mall of America..... now I'm hungry!
  • Ooo or in the Walmart parking lot waiting for the spot blocking the lane, after they drove around forever to find that spot. Why not just park at the back and walk in, it's not that far!
  • haha thanks... guess I should proofread my own posts :blushing:
  • oh forgot affect versus effect! Affect is a verb effect is a noun.
  • I think if they motivate you to move more, then they are worth it. as far as real restults from the shoe... I don't think so. I have the reebok version (got from a marshalls type store for $40) they are comfortable but I wouldn't run in them. I don't feel any difference when walking alot. I have different shoes that are…
  • I don't know about a special medal for doing both half marathons... but that does sound cool! There are no rules about which races you are allowed to participate in. I know I have my Mickey (whole) and my Donald (half) medals and they sure are pretty! There is also the really insane Goofy medal (disney half on saturday and…
