Anyone have experience with Krishna diet?

I'm a student at UF and one of the things that has been around forever is the Krishna lunches. These are vegan meals created from donated foods. Since the food is donated, meals change daily and things are never exactly the same, which means they cannot provide accurate nutritional data. I have contacted the group that makes the meals and they confirmed that they cannot provide any accurate data.
I know this food can't be *bad* for me. Like I said, it's vegan. Lots of veggies, some grains, salad, and beans or tofu. This is a great lunch that costs only $4, doesn't require me to load more stuff into my backpack, and keeps me full for hours. However, I am conflicted. I have no idea how to log this into my food log.
Does anybody have any hints for me to log this type of meal? If you'd like to look this is the link to their website: http://krishnalunch.com/ and if you click on "campus weekly menu" you can see the type of food they serve.
Thank you for your help!

I don't know about the nutritional info but its great that you have that option. I go to FSU and we have nothing like that. Not that I know of anyways.0

I suppose you can log it after you eat. Just take note of what and how much you ate, approximate the amount of fat they may have added and add each individual food into your food log.0

That sounds really cool! What an awesome program!
I would just log the individual ingredients that you know are in there. Vegan food tends to be pretty low cal, so I wouldn't worry about over estimating.
I am curious what is in the sauces. Did you ask about an ingredient list? They should be able to provide that since so many people have allergies nowadays. Then you can just log off of that. It might be extra work to do, but thats a good way to go. The menu may change often, but I'm sure some of the sauces are the same. It looks like they use the sour cream sauce more than once. So they should be able to at least tell you whats in it.
Anyway, thats an awesome thing that you get to take advantage of. I'm quite impressed.
Good luck.

Go Gators! I miss the Krishna lunches! Anytime I visit Gainesville seeing the Krishna people makes me smile. I have no clue about nutritional info for them but man was it good. Mmmm Wednesdays in the Mall of America..... now I'm hungry!0

Sometime you just have to guess and get close. For example, if the dish was rice with veggies, I would log about how much rice I thought it was and about how much of each veggie was in it. If it was a creamy dish, I might add in something like a Tbsp of butter to compensate for some additional calories and whatnot. Just get as close as you can and go with it.0

It really is great. I'm ashamed to say I didn't know about it until my 3rd semester here because I'm an Education major and the College of Education is nowhere near the main library (where they serve the food).0 -

They actually had to move their serving line to the middle of the Plaza of America instead of right by the road because people were clogging the street around lunch time.0 -
What I've done is made an item called "Michele's Generic Calories". Then, when I have something that I don't know how I can determine the calorie content of, I just make an educated guess and log that many calories. Yes, it doesn't add the sodium, protein, etc. But at least it adds the calories.
Hope this helps0 -
This is a great choice for you!!
I was LOl because when I first started changing my eating habits, I went with my son to a Veggie restaraunt for lunch. He showed me how we picked all our veggies then they stir fried them (anyone know where this is going???)
In my ignorance I blissfully walked through the line selecting, yummy veggies, beans, sprouts, and a tofu cube thingy with soy sauce.
I get to the end.............am so happy at my wonderful choices.........................the dude pours a CUP of oil in the pan and then throws all my lovely yummy fresh veggies in after it!!!! A CUP!!!
I think I actually screamed out loud! I called the manager over and asked why they did this...............he said it is VEGETABLE oil......so is good for me. I explained to him that no one needs a cup of any kind of oil and I would like to start over from the beginning because no WAY I was eating that plate (which looked sooooo good )
I guess my point is be careful. Just because it is vegan doesnt make it the best choice.
I know you are asking questions...........which is awesome in my book...........wish I had done that:laugh:0 -

Wow, that must have been frustrating. At least they let you start over. That sounds like a yummy restaurant though (well... minus the cup of oil).
I know just because something is vegan (or vegetarian or organic or whatever) doesn't automatically make it healthy for you, but with this food I think the worst things on the plate might be the salad dressing or maybe the sauce in some of the currys. However, the people that cook this follow the mindset of not overindulging and living a lifestyle that pays homage to the body. Even the salad dressing, which is mainly made of nuts so therefore higher calorie, is made to provide healthy fats and lots of protein. So even though I don't see them cooking the food I can't imagine they'd do something like that restaurant did just because it's "healthy" for you.0 -
KC that sounds really cool. I will look up Krishna tomorrow to become more enlightened. All I remember was them with bald heads and flowing colorful gowns chasing me through an airport and then at a mall once.........I was young and it scared me  I do know they are of love......0
