  • Well said! Think about how many years it takes to gain weight. Expecting it to shed in anything less than half the time is both unrealistic and unreliable (even if you did, you would likely gain it back quickly). By focusing on HEALTH and not weight loss, I have so much faith that you will see results! Remember, losing…
  • I have the same issue, so I'm interested in what the responses will be!
  • Thanks for this! And thank you all for such quick replies. The great support system is of the many reasons why I love MFP!

  • Amazing! You're truly an inspiration :-)
  • Lol "sensitivity to carbs" I never heard that before. That's exactly what I have! Best of luck everyone. Remember: being healthy takes time, good decisions, and determination :-)
  • This is great advice. The thought of needing to shed off several pounds can be daunting (especially since losing them is a process and not an overnight thing). Become a health nut! When you think about it as a journey to a healthier you, weight loss will just be icing on the cake :-) Best of luck!
  • Honey anyone? :-)
  • To echo everyone else...MFP will actually provide you with support during these tough times. Everyone has a story and, believe it or not, there will be people in your same--or similar--situations. Try to increase your activity if you know you'll be splurging those weeks. At the very least, you won't put on any weight. Then…
  • Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring!
  • Great job! Yay for strength!
  • Ke$ha - Blow (Cirkut Remix)...I DARE you to listen to it and not boost your workout intensity haha
  • After playing around with MFP, I was able to "activate" the daily Sugar Intake, Fiber Intake, etc. It has your recommended amount and keeps a tally of how much you consume based on your food diary entries. This is what I would use to see if I should have a treat. (For example: I'm under in calories, but over in…
  • The best fitness tips I learned were the two I's: Intervals and Intensity. Is your 45 minute elliptical workout constant? Try doing bursts of intensity for 30s every 5min. Or you can go all out with the interval setting and...yes I actually read this...it'll be like you did 90min!
  • I think--and have been reading in the forums--that you need to work on burning off excess fat before completely focusing on the tummy. No doubt that crunches can get you tone, but cardio needs to shed the top layer. I'm learning that exercising AND watching the diet is really the best way to combat that pooch :-) Best of…
  • I actually just joined MFP a few weeks ago but am loving it. Invite your friends to go with you on this journey! Play around with all the site has to offer. Browse blogs and especially forums. The success stories really act as the push, reaffirming that being healthy--looking and feeling great--is wanted and achieved by so…
  • The above responses said it best! I actually used to wake up and work out right away, but EATING beforehand made the biggest difference. Weird, but true. Food = fuel
  • Cutting out weekends will make a big difference for sure! But you might not have to do that. Stick to a drink or two and nothing sweet or mixed with soda, Red Bull, etc. Also...sip slowly? Haha so you order less drinks. Weekends are fun, but so is seeing those numbers on the scale go down! You can sooo do this!
  • Thank you for sharing your story! Best of luck training for the 5k. God bless :-)
  • Haha I completely agree!
  • Milk and yogurt provide calories, calcium, and protein! Always a good snack and filler...but kudos to you for needing to find a way to ADD calories lol
  • Water provides the best cleanse for me! (Copious amounts during a cheat day! Hehe) Can't go wrong with good ol' h2o :-)
  • Agreed! It's like Facebook with a purpose. Thank you to all who post on forums...your stories--trials and triumphs--are inspiring!
  • Thank you for sharing your story. You are on the right path by being vocal and wanting help! I think the first step is handling your interior (talk with friends...dare I say it...family, even a counselor). After that, working on your exterior will become more of a fun goal towards health and not a dreadful journey towards…
  • I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I'm a big dog lover and truly believe they are FAMILY! For exercise on a budget and with limited resources, I would recommend a jump rope. It's an amazing cardio workout! Other than that, I agree with those above me about walking/jogging/running and visiting a community pool. Best of…
  • B is for the Buff guys on the ellipticals switching from weight training to cardio Edit: Oops! Simultaneous post!

  • I need to be at work before 8 AM. Sooo the alarm goes off at 5:45, wake up around 5:55, eat a bit, leave, arrive at the gym by 6:20 (6:25 at the latest), work out until 6:55 or 7, shower there, get ready, and go straight to work. The key is nighttime preparation of the gym bag, so the morning is an easy get-up-and-go…
