  • 13 yr old chocolate lab! Cutest doggy ever!!!!!!!!!
  • It's exercise, but I consider it stuff I need to be doing anyway (haha), so I wouldn't log it. Just think of it as a nice balance because--without a personal HRM--a lot of the cardio database/calories burned are estimates.
  • There's something about making PAYMENT$ that has motivated me to exercise. Haha. But kudos to those with the discipline to work out from home, keep active with sports, and/or utilize nearby parks/trails/school tracks!
  • I agree. I did Slow Carb/4 Hr Body diet for a little while and it mostly taught me to open my eyes to new foods aka more veggies haha. Sadly, this diet made me focus more on how much closer I am to my cheat day and I actually felt more obsessed with what I ate (not a good feeling). Moderation--and an active lifestyle--has…
  • Haha THIS ^
  • Let no one's judgments bring you down. YOU know what you are doing to become the best version of yourself. Stay on MFP--it provides amazing support during the ups and downs of turning a diet into a lifestyle! Best of luck :-)
  • I'm a new jogger, too! Doesn't it make you sweat like crazy?! (In a good way haha.) My best advice is to up the speed by .1 mph every day. I've been jogging 3 mi. 5x/wk...but I'm sure the same can go for your 5 mi. Keep at the distance because it seems like your ultimate goal is speed. I went from 4.5-5.1 mph in a little…
  • I feel the same way about guys at the gym! It's the ones that just do their own thing that stand out--not the ones strutting around. There was this guy who threw punches while running and when I found out that adds an insane ab workout/burns more calories (aka he actually knows what he's doing) it made me swoooon hehe.
  • Thank you for sharing! Simple but the truth!
  • They go hand-in-hand! The reason why I update my weight is BECAUSE I've been logging my food/exercise and seeing progress. It makes the biggest difference. And with MFP, there really are no excuses (which usually makes me like this >> :grumble: haha) They have pretty much EVERYTHING in their database...the tedious work has…
  • I think you're on the right track by asking all these questions...you're only a step away from becoming a fitness nut--which is GOOD! From your previous activity level, I would recommend you start off by making exercise a habit. Do anything from with speed walking, light biking, or the elliptical the same time every day.…
  • I vote for running. For some reason, I feel like I'm working harder. I've done 40 mins on an elliptical, but my clothes have never been so drenched in sweat after committing to a 5K every morning on the treadmill haha! I feel like there's more to play with on the treadmill, too. Incline, speed, distance. Truuuust me, I…
  • Haha yup! Exactly where I got it from!
  • I'm not looking to start any debates, but have you considered Natural Family Planning? The good thing about it would be you're not putting any new things into your body--less likely to have side effects (often relating to weight or appetite). On the other hand (don't want to say "bad"), would be that you would need to be a…
  • I don't think you can go wrong with progressing from walking > speed walking > jogging > jogging for distance! I prefer treadmills because they monitor my pace. I didn't used to, though...so you can always start off with the stationary bike and move to the elliptical and finally the big kahuna treadmill haha. Best of luck…
  • Thanks for that tip! Loving all the motivation I see so far!
  • http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/256183-need-some-inspiration-operation-inspiration-pic-heavy?hl=inspiration+tumblr Go through that thread--it's SO motivating!!!
  • So true!!! I bought a mini stepper a while back and it's just collecting dust. There's just something about making regular payments and the motivated atmosphere that is much more effective than going on the journey in the privacy of your home. Highly recommend! Big tip, though: Choose LOCATION over amenities. My gym has a…
  • This thread was so helpful for me! I've seen taller and shorter height topics and was happy to see people with similar weight goals  Thanks ladies!
  • YES. Dips for sure.
  • Sounds like you are on the right path. Letting go of those three things is definitely going to equal a healthier you! Wishing you many blessings on your journey!!!
  • HAHA I love how you specify "water." I love water! :drinker: ^ The "noway" face is definitely my favorite smiley on MFP
  • HAHA yep the title definitely got me. I was like WHAAAT MEN ONLY?! :noway: I'm gonna click this!!!
  • I gave up putting cream + sugar in my coffee and tea...soo tough, but those calories definitely added up!
  • Great answer. Try mixing up intervals, too! You won't believe how much more you sweat! Also, inches will usually come from the places we don't "need" them to come from. For example, midsection inches take time and tons of dedication.
  • I've recently gotten into the habit of measuring myself in inches. You know, bust, waist, hips...MFP even has a spot for neck measurements lol. (But rightly so, because you actually lose from there!) Try focusing on that more than numbers. It has helped me a lot and allows me to appreciate even the slightest improvement.…
  • I like both of these replies. Atlantique, it was more of a complaint than a problem. Haha. It was a couple of pounds, so you're right on the money (...but you know how those pounds are LIKE money when you're busting your behind!) Texas501, so glad you "got it!" It works, though! If the numbers are higher than they were a…
