it sounds to me like the machine probably uses a small electrical pulse to measure how much muscle and how much fat you have. there is a similar machine at my gym. it depends a lot on your hydration levels. if you're not properly hydrated you'll get a false reading, since your muscles store water. if you're not storing…

Muscle is more dense than fat, so you may not see a drop in your overall weight. If you replace the same volume of fat with muscle, you'll actually weigh more on the scale. But the muscle will give you that toned look and boost your metabolism. at least that's my understanding of it.

not sure of the cup to oz ratio for that, but uncooked it should be less by volume because the pasta will expand/grow when it cooks. It may be a bit heavier too, but it will take up more space cooked. Invest in a simple scale. They're awesome. And hopefully someone else can give you a definite answer to this.

I've seen this too. The only reason I can see behind it is that they want to run 1 or 2 minute intervals at a high speed, but don't want to have to deal with the time it takes for the treadmill to speed up or slow down. I know when I jump on and punch in a sprinting speed, it takes the treadmill a good 25 seconds to reach…

i normally don't let it ruin my exercise schedule or plan regardless of how sluggish i feel. Working out actually makes me feel better....and surprisingly, I've run some of my fastest times and achieved more personal bests while on my period than i have off. it's weird...i may be an exception...

bumping is just a way to bring a post back to the top of the message boards so more people see it. It also puts the topic into your "My topics" tab so you can find it easier later.

I have to agree with the back from a physical point of view. Otherwise, i find a man's voice can be his sexiest quality.

I just made these gingerbread cokies tonight and they are FANTASTIC. taking them to school tomorrow to share with hungry grad students. I halved the recipe on the website and still got 55 cookies out of the dough. Which brought the total cals for each cookie to ~32 and ~1 g of fat. They're a bit time consuming though since…

The hardest way possible huh? when you're doing 200, i think just finishing them is the hardest way. I'll report back tomorrow.

It probably depends on your age, gender, and level of fitness. My heart rate on the treadmill often peaks around 185 when I'm working really hard. I suppose your heart rate could be too high if you were having some sort of attack or something, but while exercising I find it hard to imagine you'd get your heart rate up to a…

I didn't use greek yogurt because I didn't have any (haven't ever tried it really), so I just used another fat free plain yogurt. Don't know if that would make a huge difference. But I thought they came out great for such a low calorie recipe. Normally stuff I try to make that's low cal with substitutions turns out flat…

Mine syncs with the machines as well. But I find the machines can't keep up with it sometimes. My watch will say 170, but the treadmill will only be registering 150 or so. So accuracy may be an issue. Plus I feel the machines at the gym are inaccurate when it comes to calories burned, so I just stick with what my watch…

I usually do some sort of techno...sandstorm-esque. But sometimes good classical piano is a nice contrast to the intensity of my workout. Very calming when doing sprints on the treadmill or something.

I recently discovered the awesomeness of Fiber Gourmet pasta. high in fiber, and 130 cals for 2 ounces (or ~200 for 3 ounces, regular pasta being ~300/3oz). It's pretty good too flavour wise. I'm in Vancouver, and have to order it online. I buy from lowcarbcanada.com Not sure if you can get it in australia since it's an…

I found the powdered peanut butter online and ordered it. I got PB2 from Bell Plantation. Ordered through lowcarbcanada.ca (because i live in Vancouver), but I'm sure you could find it online somewhere.

Honestly, I have no idea how altitude affects things like baking, so I couldn't say. Maybe you should start a new discussion thread about it. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here with a similar issue.
