I have my activity level set at sedentary, but only count cooking & cleaning if its above/beyond normal daily activities.

I log everything, because for me I don't just look at my daily total, I look at the weekly totals too, and try to make sure even with a cheat day I stay below the weekly calorie goals too

It sounds like the deficit was a good part of the problem. My personal opinion/experience on eating back exercise calories is it depends on if I'm hungry or not. Either way I make sure to not net less than 1200 a day, normally I aim for a net around 1500 daily

The kids and I made one tonight that was root beer & french vanilla cake mix, then topped with french vanilla whipped cream, definitely tasted like a float

I do sometimes. Not that far in advance, maybe in the morning while I have breakfast I'll log what I'm taking to work for lunch, and what I'm going to fix for dinner, that way I'll know how many calories I'll have available for snacks or a small indulgence later on
