Hey,
I have taken Zyprexa and Seroquel, as well as trying Lovane and Topamax. . I am currently taking Pristiq. What are other people's experiences in regards to weight gain and taking these medication?. I am quite small framed 5'5 and before taking any medication was 51 - 53 kgs (112 - 116 lbs) (with never exercised and pretty much eating what ever I wanted - yes very unhealthy). I began taking medication and gained, my highest weight being around 64 kgs (140 lbs). I have lost 13 (6 kgs) of those pounds while using MFP. Now it has been two week since stopping Seroquel and am finding I am losing weight fast... has this happened to anyone else?
Regards,
Elyce S

If Seroquel made you sugar-binge (like it does almost everyone who takes it) then you will absolutely see weight loss from stopping that medication. Make sure to keep tracking your food carefully and eat enough so you don't lose too quickly. This can help identify if you're possibly being appetite-suppressed by any new meds you take; not a huge worry but worth noting.
I hope you have a good relationship with your psychiatrist and feel comfortable talking to him or her about this. It's incredibly normal to discuss weight issues and how different medicines affect your appetite/weight. Notes also need to made to your file about weight loss and gain- so be sure to keep your doctor in the loop.
Best of luck to you on your weight loss journey!0 -
I think you might be right. Thank you very much for your kind words.0
