  • I dont have any huge answers, only to say that I'm in the same boat...im peri, and I've put on 6kgs in 3 years. Alcohol totally messes with my hormones soi I'm coming to the realisation that it had to be minimised.. the only thing that seems to work is counting cals and macros and staying in a deficit of 300 or so cals, so…
  • Hey! I am new to IIFYM and looking to make friends who are also doing it ...feels like I am making progress though not sure as yet as haven't weighed etc. Thinking of waiting a few weeks to give it time, and have been injured, but back to gym tonight :) Jenny
  • How come only 1400 cals per day?? surely thats like your BMR?? Coupled with te movement and exercise you are doing. I'd guess you are undereating, hence your body will not let the fat go.??? Jenny
  • That is brilliant! well done you :) x
  • Honestly - bones take as long as they take to heal, but normally when docs give you a rough time frame, I'd add a bit! Are you in a cast?? did you have surgery? Are you now fully weight bearing? Did you have ligament damage? Without knowing exactly what point you are at, I would say don't do anything cardio wise til you…
  • Hi OP, I have to say I feel your pain, I broke my ankle on 11th Dec,comminuted Tibia which broke in 5 places and clean break of Fib, so have a plate and 10 screws on my Tib. I'm now 3 months in, and about 65% weight bearing, It is a slow process, but if you are in a cast with no surgery, you will likely be weight bearing…
  • Totally agree with all of the suggestions! Especially the pampering, dvd's - you time, to do the things you enjoy and that ,ake you feel good, dont do anything you dont want to do! this is key! I absolutely can say with hand on heart that we all go through these times. I had an awful 3- 4 weeks when i just felt depressed…

  • Thanks for your replies:) I probabably do about 9-10 hours a week of non strenuous activity which is where i feel a bit lost, as scooby only has either 5-6 hrs of strenuous, or 7-20 hour of strenuous, which I think is a large range! also 4.5 of those hours are my bike ride commute to work, which I have been doing for…
  • Stay with it ! I gained the most (4-5 lbs ) in the first 2 weesk - felt tired , bloated , really dead to be honest - then by week 4 I had loads more energy, am no more boated than I ever was before if I had a big meal, and feel much better. I'm still resetting due to the fact that i dont feel ready to cut yet, I dont weigh…
  • You absolutely have to eat more. Your body wont let you lose weight til you reset your metab - netting less than 1000?? Your BMR must be at a guess at least 1200-1400. You are literally running on empty. Your body will be metabolising internal organs and muscle at that level. Believe me, I know its hard initially, but once…
  • Thanks - am 36. I think I maybe should go up a bit more - happy to do that. I've only been eating 1950 for a bit less than 2 weeks, but doesnt feel liek it is working, (on high burn days, which have been few and far between last 2 wks, adding a few hundred more so that I dont go below BMR) and yes eating that all but one…
  • It's true and just how the others said! I really didnt actually realise i was netting so low for so long! But - the first 2 weeks wer hardest for me to up to over 2000 cals, mainly cos I just felt so full all the time, and i thought it was crazy to do the oppposite of what i had been doing, but they do say if what your…
  • I found I got very hot to start with, but now it seems to have evened out and I can tolerate extremes of both temps much much better now - a lovely side effect! (used to get very cold in winter and suffer with heat on very stuffy days! )
  • Bump. I'm starting cut today after 8 weeks of re-set, though I'm not sure if I reset enough, Certainly felt like it, the way my clothes got tight! Gonna do 4 weeks cut, 1 week maintain cals, then 4 weeks cut again, Will report back in Aug :)
  • I gave this site my numbers, and it said my tdee was 1950 - oops - well I have been eaitng 2300 including exercise! I then changed the activity numbers wuite a bit in favour of far more heavy workouts and it stayed the same on 3 revisions, so I dont think it can be that accurate! Well hoping not, as otherwise I will be…
  • Chill a bit and take a breath! I know it is hard, but like the other poster said it likely is not actual weight you have put on, rather water and other minerals that your body is desperate for. I started eating more about 2 months ago after unknowingly netting less than my BMR for the last year on here! I feel that a…
  • Love it! Someone else used the term 'liberation' recently and I love that too - I also think that once it becomes no issue, the weight comes off naturally, as all the stress around it has fallen away! :)
  • Ahhhhh OK I get it now - fair enough delete who you like! :)
  • Wow! I am amazed that you would even think of deleting them for being in the red, or for not doing enough exercise or whatever??? as long as they are not offending you or saying bad things you dont agree with, why would you delete them?? Seriously , you are making it sound like it all 'friends' dont confirm to your strict…
  • I'm eating loads too and a bit of exercise, trying to cut back a bit on cardio and upping weights! Currently not losing but hope I will eventually! :)
  • I can relate totally. I think you just used to doing so much cardio. As women i guess we think" if I do this much I will burn x amount of cals, then it will all be good". Well I know I always did, though looking back to last year, I was netting somhthing like 1100 cals on average and had no idea what I was doing to my…
  • That is amazing and puts it all into perspective for a lot of us I think - keep going and keep eating more and fueling our amazing bodies! :)
  • Sorry should have said 1kg for £12.99!
  • My Protein has some amazing deals on whey powders and is bar far cheapest for the biggest hit I think ............(according to me who doesn't use it that much, and others that i work with in sports who use it a lot! ), with taste and stuff balanced out! Jenny
  • You should always net your BMR at least - otherwise you will have all kinds of repercussions down the line, its pretty easy to see why isnt it? where do you think your body will take what it needs from - muscles of course! Its not hard to eat wiser and eat natural foods, no low fat rubbish for a start - as you do needs…
  • Basically you have to force yourself to eat more, once your body gets used to it (wont take more then a few days) you will start to feel hungry, and it will be much better off for it! you will have more energy, feel less tired and look better. You must be eating way below your BMR right now which means your body is eating…
  • I'm certainly not going to give up yet, and I was of th same thoughts really, as in nothing is shifting and that my body is in the process of sorting itself out perhaps, though not quite there yet, and though it feels scary, I am going to continue cos I feeel so much stronger. The gain seems to have stopped at about 6lbs -…
  • A quick glance at your diary had me in shock - I've not read all messages so know nothing of height etc but even if you were doing no exercise, you are not eating enough and your body is trying to tell you to eat more, and you are ignoring it! at least eat your BMR please! otherwise you will struggle later on when you try…
  • Agree with the other poster - it wont hurt and could do some good and make you feel better! The only reason I think the science behind this works, is because twice now I have stopped all exercise other then some light yoga and pilates each day for approx 2 wks when I go on holiday, ate about 1600 cals per day, maybe bit…
