I subscribe to the theory of slow but consistent loss as a result of small incremental changes to my diet combined with small incremental changes in exercise habits. Why? For me, reasons include : 1. I'm In this for the long haul and want to build up good eating and exercise habits 2. Taking it easy with exercise minimizes…

Miss QT I read this thread with a lot of curiosity and I have to say found it very interesting. I don't always look at people's profiles but I could not help to check yours out - which is a very interesting read. First of all, let me start by saying you appear to be a truly focussed, inspirational individual. That youtube…

Lewis, first of all, well done. Please friend me, I am sure you will inspire me on my continued journey. Second of all, you are correct in what you say. You no longer can hide behind your weight/health as an excuse for other areas in your life that are lacking. I am sure you have extra energy now that you are thinner and…

I have not really cut out any particular foods although I have certainly made slow and gradual changes to my diet (some of my friend's may say too slow - my rate of weight loss has certainly slowed down of late!). The main initial change that I made was to simply drink a lot more water instead of soft drink / sodas. I used…

Toned legs. (Not mine presently though, as injured). Of course no body part is sexy as a sharp brain imho (personality).

This topic has been done countless times before as I am sure others will point out. The classic response (I'm sure someone will say) is to simply fill glass and empty glass into your mouth. Or something to that effect. However, here are some tips from me: 1. I try to drink 3 glasses of water with each main meal = 9 glasses…

Hmmm there are two points of view to consider in regulating sugar IMHO. 1. On the one hand there is no doubt that big business in the food industry often does the wrong thing in slowly raising sugar levels of foods that we don't even think as having sugar! This does need to be regulated or at least made a lot more…

Maaaate. Yep Sydney-ite Australian. Have u recovered from Australia day yet?

I'm in Sydney, 44, feel free to add me. I've been on Mfp for 225 days now, lost 16kgs (almost 20kg including 1month prior joining). I have 10 more to go (maybe a little more). I've taken a long term view to weight loss. It's not about losing max weight in minimum time. It's about learning and building up on my fitness and…

Thanks Jose. I think the problem with the Polar FT80 is not the data (great), it's the quality of the screen (very dim and reflective).

.Asmithson19 I paid $250 (Aus). This didn't include a foot pod or GPS that I didn't really need (my iPhone app does that)

Mark Webber, Formula racing driver a few years ago. Nice, down to earth bloke despite all the success

This one has been answered many times, do a search. Personally, I believe in eating calories back, mainly because I get hungry if I don't! However I have seen some mfp friends get very good results by not eating any of their exercise calories (or if they do, they only eat part of them back). I guess it depends on your…

Lol, I thought someone was quitting mfp! Some great advice there, though there are one or two of them that I don't fully agree with (I'll quit while I'm ahead and not say which ones they are)....

1. Had a high fibre Bol of cereal 2. Gulped the water down 3. Surfed the forums for inspiration (yes I just woke up not long ago)

Interesting quandary. I guess the answer will depend on the individual and their circumstances EG: If you can fit in a chocolate bar or bag of chips into your day and your nutrition is otherwise good, you are keeping fit and health and it fits within your goal, I have no objection to it personally. If you are over goal for…

Some funny replies. There are no secrets that I know of. If there was, I would write a book about it and it would no longer be a secret. "Hard work" of course is the key as others have said. However, to me there is one key, important ingredient that comes before others. Something that could mean the difference between…

I agree with chuckles 217, don't ignore the pain. Get your knees thoroughly checked out with a specialist if necessary. Until you know what is happening with your knee, I would not stress it any further, you are only young but damage could become permanent. FWIW I injured my knees years ago and found physiotherapy helped a…

Hmm noticed thus thread and as I qualify as a Cool Kid (by a few years) thought I would bump it!

I used to diet. I failed at all of them. I now track calories and (try to) make better choices. More vegetables, leaner meats, better quality breakfast cereals, water instead of sodas or juices, that sort of thing. To me if you are serious, its about making long term lifestyle changes that will serve you best. This…

My exercise staple for cardio is walking. I started indoors on the treadmill but got bored with that, and better weather has allowed me to go outdoors. In the last 3 months, I have slowly incorporated jogging into my walks. I can now jog around up to 3.5kms non stop. In some ways walking is my favourite exercise in that it…

1. AM is best as you should be at your lightest (no undigested food should be there hopefully). 2. The scales that show the least weight! Seriously, I like my digital Tamika, shows body fat percentage which is more useful than just the raw weight number (even if not necessarily super accurate)
