  • Forever because I am a poor judge of portions. I don't ever want to gain my weight back and counting calories is what helps keep me honest.
  • I use one of the neoprene belts, but I use it to hold everything in place. I lost so much weight that I have a lot of extra skin and can't afford the plastic surgery. So when I'm running or doing aerobic activities I wear one of those belts or a compression shirt to hold it all in place. Scott
  • I like it with fruit added or added to a protein shake. I also like to take some of it and mix it with an egg scramble it up and cook it.
  • The part you are missing is that food is an addiction that you can't quit. You have to eat and take in calories on a daily basis. You don't have to smoke, drink or do any kind of drugs to sustain a normal lifestyle. You can believe whatever you want, but just because something was easy or worked for you doesn't mean that…
  • Yes I weigh all dry foods and measure all liquids. I'm terrible at judging portions and if I don't measure I find that I am way off.
  • Your right, sorry, my apologies I add some vanilla extract to taste. I think the recipe calls for 1 tsp, but I usually put in a tablespoon full. I really like the vanilla flavor.
  • The recipe is a couple lines above the text that you quoted.
  • They cost a bit more, but I really like the Garmin 310xt, it will calculate speed, time, calories all the goodies, has a customizable display, is uploadable to your computer and numerous fitness sites. It has attachments for your bike to do pedaling cadence, and speed based on both gps location and the standard magnet…
  • Have you compared the readings your heart rate monitor gives you for any specific exercise against what some of the online sources list. 1 thing I found with the monitors is that they may not actually take your heart rate into account when figuring out the calories. Many of them use a standard set generic equation to…
  • Cool, I'll have to give it a try. There is always room for improvement on a recipe. I was thinking about cutting back on the dried fruit and mixing up the nuts. Maybe removing some almonds and using some cashews, and adding some carob or chocolate chips
  • Nutritional info http://www.myfitnesspal.com/recipe/edit/1965844 It will vary depending on your protein powder, if you can find no added sugar fruits etc, but this is the basic recipe I try to get 20 pieces out of this so 2x2 inch servings. You could make them larger or smaller but that will also change the info. The 2x2…
  • Yeah whole foods, Olivers, Trader Joe's Most of the places that have a bulk food section at least in the area I live, You just have to read the bulk food bins, the s/f and the sugared are all just intermixed. They are few and far between, but you can find them.
  • bump I also have this in pdf and xls formats if you send me a message, I'll send you a copy if you would like.
  • Yeah I use pb2 myself. I use it more when I'm cooking than just eating it. I really like the pb2 and it's great in the shakes that need that pb flavor without all the calories
  • Smoothies, I was reading an article about them recently and the author uses all kinds of frozen vegetables in his. He claims that the flavor is greatly reduced or not there at all when you use the frozen vegetable. He uses frozen broccoli and carrots and cauliflower, spinach etc. He then adds his yogurt or protein powder,…
  • One of my friends swears by them, I haven't tried them myself. a couple things he mentioned were that it hurt like hell to run in them during the beginning, and it can still be uncomfortable, but that is his clue that his form is bad. Once he developed proper running form, the discomfort went away. Now when it hurts, he…
  • <---- Self conscious. I have lost about half of my excess body weight and I have a ton of extra skin now. Before that I looked like I could fill a D cup or bigger. I was self conscious then, you would never see me without a shirt. I'm still self conscious now, but not quite as much. I will take my shirt off to go into the…
  • Couple half marathons, a 70.3 triathlon, several century and beyond bike rides/races. Currently training for the 112 mile bike portion as part of a relay team for a full Ironman and training for my first full marathon in January. Scott
  • Our local Y has done them in the past. If you haven't tried one before, you should check out a sprint triathlon. You are done in an hour or so. It is really addictive and it is a gateway exercise ;-) It leads to longer triathlons. The sprint tri is usually something like 400-800 meters of swimming 5-15 miles of cycling and…
  • I also like the pure protein bars. I like the fact that you can get them in two different size/calorie servings. I also like their protein shake. Trader Joe's, WalMart, Target and The Vitamin Store all carry it. It also comes in two portion/calorie sizes and a variety of flavors. Scott
